the guitar players megathread

I play guitar. One of the few decent things a human being can still do these days.
I play acoustic and electric and electric bass (I wish I had an acoustic bass, that would be so much freakin fun)

I play probably acoustic 75% of the time and electric 25% of the time, but I prefer electric, it's just that I take my acoustic with me almost everywhere I go. :)

I prefer electric.........I have a Gibson SG-red plays great for solos, not good on the low end
I have a Fender Strat American Standard-really really good for just about everything, even jazz.

My acoustic is a Epiphone....not great but I don't play much acoustic

My favorite instrument is my Fender Jazz Bass........loved it from the start and still do

I started out playing bass before I got into six string. I don't own a bass any more, but I've always loved Rickenbacker, Ernie Ball Stingray, and Fender Sting P basses. <3

Nah, I don't actually own one. I was just saying I think they're awesome that's all. :)

Anyone play guitar AND other instruments too?

I teach guitar, bass, and piano at my local music school. And right after an amazing guitar, I think a well-built (30,000 USD Plus) range grande-piano is an absolute delight.

I love making a song up on the guitar, then learning to play it in a different manner on the piano.

^^Yeah I did that for about 4 hours last night while on drone......I play keyboards, bass, guitar, etc. I find that meph is perfect for coming up with some great tracks...last night was like prog-smooth jazz if that makes since. A little jazz in there as well.

I was a drummer first, but was always interested in songwriting...which you can't really do on drums. So I got a guitar and taught myself to play. For the first few years I just learned tabs and stuff.

Doors flew open when I began to learn how to actually play the instrument and perform free flow jams. (around the same time I started hitting the herb haha)

I still feel more confident on drums but I can definitely hold my own on guitar and love jamming both. I've noodled around on bass too, which is fun because it combines the melodic aspects of guitar with percussion and groove.

I've had too many bands fall apart so I'm just recording songs where I play every instrument. Now I just need to learn how to sing...

been playing for years. been slacking recently though. tempted to buy a stratocaster, cant beat that neck pickup blues tone

I love playing the electric guitar, it's my personal fave to get wasted and rock out!:)

I play a PRS SE Singlecut it's by far the best guitar I've ever owned and probably played as it just feels and sounds right. I'd like to get a proper PRS as mine's a student edition but you know, the next time I've got a spare couple of grand kicking about I might just go pick one up. Yeah right, I wish!

Been playin about 12 years and used to take it dead serious, but spent past few years mainly just getting wasted and jamming for fun. Been in a band once bout 10 years ago and found it to be just like seeing four girls all at the same time and trying to keep them all happy. Pretty exhausting! But I would be up for giving it another go.

Joe Bonamassa lives in my CD player at the moment, either solo or with Black Country Communion. That dude really makes me buzz!

What are your favourite 'hairs stand up on the back of your neck' guitar orientated buzz songs/bands?

I seriously want one of the Fender Jazzblasters. I've looked on ebay and there isn't one to be seen. Anyone know where I'd find one?.

I was thinking of getting a Blacktop Jazzmaster until I saw this. But then I realised the Blacktop is made in Mexico and swiftly changed my mind.

What's everyone's view on the Electro Harmonix Nano series?. I have a couple of the pedals (Nano Clone and Memory Toy). I notice a volume dip with both, and the Clone has an annoying hiss to it. Anyone have any of the pedals?. Sure they look cute, and they're relatively inexpensive, but are they really worth it?.

I play bass and can fake the funk well enough on the git fiddle to fool music noobs. I`ve been playing for about 9 years. I have : Fender p bass that I turned fretless, Rickerbacher 4003(just like the one in the pic) Fender Jaguar bass, Fender P bass deluxe,Epiphone Thunderbird,Epiphone El Segundo acoustic bass,Epiphone SG bass and my Dad`s 74 Les Paul custom,77 Gibson double neck(think Jimmy Page) and a old Epiphone acoustic. I have a Ampeg SVT-350 head and a fender stack(410 and 115 cabs), a fender bassman 100 combo amp and a little 15 watt fender guitar amp.
By the way, I notice how old this thread was but hey, better late than never!

Play all kinds of random guitars in songs I have recorded. I prefer telecaster for electric and I own a epiphone masterbuilt acoustic in which sounds awesome for the price. Stuff I have been recording latley I have been using a squire with nice equipment in it and great action, it sounds like the real thing imo
