Really hope it all goes well for you man. I'm only half joking when I say you win this thread. And I appreciate your writing style and your quite amazing stoicism through it all. Crossing my fingers for a totally successful outcome for you.

No winners in here. At least I'm only in pain in the short term after each surgery, from the sounds of your last post your pain was ongoing. Has it subsided a little at least now? Plus with what you're dealing with you have the worry of staying in remission too, which is no issue for me when they remove the whole damn organ! No, I definitely don't envy you in your position one bit. Hope you're doing well. Everyone else too <3

I'm sitting here now without a care in the world, like there's never been a problem.

This time yesterday I was screaming in pain and crying on the floor and wanting my life to end. :\

My pain is not from the cancer but from the interventions, from the fucking cure! And, yeah, it's extreme. Trouble is I don't know which mornings its going to happen and which not. Went to bed dreading this morning and what do you know, everything is fine today.

This was the dilemma with early stage PC. To intervene or not, because intervention may be worse than non-intervention. It's an odd one.

FWIW, they've whacked my cancer out of the way but appear to have fucked up my bowel. You might also like to google retrograde ejaculation. ;) :(

Sorry to hear all that SHM. Good news about the big C though.

Fortitude and good pain killers to the rest of you suffering.

Ive got a horrible headache. I had it last time i took a strong, prescribed laxative and felt also like i wanted to die. Ive got theories why it hurts to pass all that old slurry but i wont put you off your lunches. Just make sure y'all eat your fibre. That stuff isnt meant to hang around.

I do know that the next day though i felt fresh as a new born daisy so perhaps thats something to look forward to.

I feel kinda bad to say this reading some of the other stuff but my throat is killing me, everytime I swallow it feels like sandpaper.
Having a roll up feels like I am sucking on a car exhaust & hurts.

I get really bad migraines that confine me to bed for the whole day. Went to doc today, told me nothing can be prescribed to help the pain (painkillers don't work apparently) and that I'd just need to ride it out. Also told me to take daily paracetamol as a preventative measure.

Thanks doctor.:|

Edit - Actually, I'm not that surprised considering SHM has only been given codeine for his cancer pain. What a joke.

Wow, reading back some of the thread and props to SHM and Roganjosh for coping with some truly harrowing sounding pain.

I've still got this disorder causing massive stabs of insane pain throughout my head, but at least I can take solace in the fact it isn't a physical injury and is not going to harm my health like some of the stuff many in this thread are going through. However, the metric ton of anti-epilepsy drugs might in the long-term, remains to be seen.

SHM, I noticed you were now on codeine also, I've found it much more effective than either the MST or the 30/500s, I think the Amiltriptyline may be playing a part as I have extensive nerve damage. I'm on a waiting list to see a consultant about having a special shoe insert built to try and improve my walking but it's 8 weeks before they will even tell me when the appointment will be, ultimately they are going to have to remove much of the metal work, rebreak the tibea and try and line things up a but better.

With all that info my doctor now seems more willing to provide a regular script for pain meds and agrees that we are looking at a period of pain management rather then a temporary thing during a healing process.

I really want them to put a new knee in at the same time as this one is just a jumble of bits held together with mecanno and chipboard screws but they don't seem keen, I could relent and go private through work but the consultant stated he still would replace the knee as I'm not old enough.

Guess I'm glad I can at least walk on it, with the aid of codeine a walked nearly 5 miles along a beach, each step has some pain but it's the kind of low level you can live with. Unfortunately my right knee is showing signs of the strain, it was already problematic and the signs aren't great.

On the brighter side I can now walk without a stick and with some confidence, being in a wheel chair was a scary experience and in general my work doesn't require much in the way of standing let alone physical excursion.

@Rogan sounds all a bit serious mate hope it works out for the best

@Sham...just<3

Woke up this morning & I felt like death I got some terrible cold virus, my whole body felt like I was into a 3 day rattle but it's amazing what good quality H can do for pain, I feel a new man now.

Props to SHM I gotta say.

Aaaahhhhh fuuuucckkkk! :!

My neck is extremely sore. I haven't taken the Nalproxen my GP gave me as the only time I have taken it, it had little effect other than fucking up my sleep for the night.

fucking hell, headache and neck pain. Not good. I'm a cripple I tell you.

My "takedown" op is tomorrow now. In a rare occurrence for the NHS, the op has been brought forward by a week! I'll get my "gunshot wound to the stomach" just in time to use it as part of my Halloween costume heh. Hope to be discharged within a week again, basically I just have to take a fairly normal shit and be in control of it and they'll send me home. But they still have to handle my small intestine a bit during surgery so the potential to have another ileus (when your bowel shuts down), bloat up and vomit litres of green fluid again, is quite likely.

The op itself is quite short though and as soon as I'm back on the ward I'll be bored stiff, so once I get my phone back I'll likely be on here with an update for you all :) looking forward to my first shit in (just) over 12 months!

I can confirm that having a 50p sized hole in your abdo wall that is only stitched internally and left open on the skin side stings a bit. Has to be done like that to stop a cavity forming under the skin which has infection potential though, it'll heal from the inside out.

Still, stoma is gone (weird NOT having a bag stuck there now!) and my new internal plumbing is connected up. Only had blood and watery fluid out so far though, the watery fluid is worrying (the blood is standard post op) because I've eaten a bit today and hoped to see some evidence of that by now. I'm pretty bloated so I'm hoping there isn't a blockage...

If it's all good I might be discharged tomorrow though :)

Fukin hate the change in weather , makes my Thrombosis much worse just walked 500yards up a slight gradient n my Calf is Rock Solid like a fukin tree Trunk .

It's bearable in the summer but i forgot just how bad it is in the winter especially as it has got considerably worse thank to some fukin stupid Nurse that thought putting a line in2 my FEM on the Thrombosed side would be a good idea when even i know a central line in the neck is standard practice.

What's up with ye olde neck? My necks got worse and I have to hold it when I walk now with one arm, it's a good luck. Another gp today poor lad looked about 19, he knocked on his own door? After he had left to go get advice on something.

More Botox injections in my neck today n he said I might have mild dystonia, really fucking hope not been a month though and it getting worse. Fucking month off work now think they going to sack me, they cut my contract hours so I'm getting 8 hours sick pay a week... :|

Has that nurse made the pain worse long term?

Yeah most def.

she tried inserting a line in 2 my already Thrombosed Leg via the fem when standard practise for someone with very little Veinous access is to put a central line in the neck .

I had a Scan a few days after ( they said it would be months but my GP went fukin ape ) & the results show the damage that was done.

Prior to that i could get by on compression stockings & occasional DFs now i'm on Oxy IR RX .

I was in agony with leg cramps till i took that 4mg subu an hour ago feeling better now.

Man Brimz that don't sound good hope it gets better soon homie

That's the thing it won't get better it's permanent . The Condition is called Post Thrombotic Syndrome.

I find that it is far more pain full in the winter , hence why i brought it up . All the more reason to live somewhere not as cold !

Spondylosis (according to GP). It's not particularly severe, just painful and irritating. Sometimes I don't notice it, sometimes I have to lie down to rest my neck.

Did work cut your hours after you went off sick? Fucking shocking if they did. Cunts.
