In March 2010 Australia followed suit with USA and brought in the FSC (Fire Safety Cigarette). The justification was that in Australia, around 14 people are claimed to die annually from cigarette related fires. The government accepted the proposal for FSCs and implemented regulations. Cigarette companies were required to change their products to ensure that all cigarettes would self-extinguish more readily.
They added some really cool chemicals such as :

And some Ethylene vinyl acetate (also known as EVA) is the copolymer of ethylene and vinyl acetate.
Smokers tried to petition their governments and publically voice their outrage at yet another 2 lethal chemicals being added to their tobacco, But their cries fell on deaf ears, because smokers , like addicts, were
considered a lost cause and a burden on the Health System (the same Health System that is a burden onto itself), and therefore were given 2 choices 'give up' or 'Shut the fuck up'..
But on the positive side, next year we will have saved the lives of 14 people because our new FSC smokes will no longer burn long enough to cause a fire. Aussie Government caring for its Aussie citizens as always
I smoke Winfield, and I definitely noticed the difference in taste, but more so the inconvenience of constantly having to relight my cigarette, or smoke it like a joint so it didnt go out. Luckily I got used to that about a year ago.
Im well prepared and seasoned now.
Now I just sit back and watch the world go crazy , with the new generic brand packets, that show such awesome graphics (Brian is by far my fave). I get fuck all change back from a $20, and I usually have to
check I got sold the right smokes or risk having to trek back down the shop to exchange them, because the cashier is having trouble reading the small printed brand name I asked for , and just reaches for
the closest black packet they can find. Its understandable.. They have to get the smokes from a dark cupboard, that is only allowed to be opened at most 5cm, and most likely time locks if kept open for
more than 10 seconds, and then proceeds to a time delay...
Alot of political thought went into this idea (and alot of taxpayer $$$) . Buying smokes now has that all familiar feeling of scoring your drugs and not being able to get home fast
enough to sample your socially unacceptable purchase
It now stands to reason why I would fall into my usual habit of impatiently sitting back on my backyard patio , while knocking back a handful of Dexy's and cracking open my Jack D , lighting up my smoke and wondering why I have
once again fallen victim to 5 undercover cops jumping my fence to arrest me for a 'Random Cigarette Bust'.
They will ignore my pot, my pills and my alcohol, and confiscate my 25 Pack of Winnie Blues and fine me $500 for smoking in suburbia... Ahhhh... Crazy times ahead..
