The Cigarette Thread

I don't have any problem with the new packaging, but I'm not a heavy smoker, maybe a pack or two a month. Who cares what the box they come in looks like, either you enjoy smoking or you don't. If it bothers you excessively, you can always get a cigarette case. In fact, I wonder if they'll become more popular now?
 
that's exactly what i thought, cigarette cases will be the trend again. i bet there's shipping container's full of them on the way from china as we type.
 
they've already started hitting the shelves. mate came around with a pack the other week with a packet of plain packaged.

same here. this whole thing doesn't bother me in the least. i've recently got myself an e-cig and haven't had a cigarette since and only toke on the e-cig a little here and there, far from daily use as well.

i remember around 5 yrs back peter stuyvesant were selling their smokes in metal tins, as opposed to their hard and soft packs, to which i gained a few but lost/gave them away over the years. my dad has a couple of really old school tobacco tins back from my grandad's day. little round tin about 1/2inch high and the circumference is small enough to fit inside a top pocket, as well as fit the pack of papers in there nice and snug.

We're not allowed to call the packs olive green, it upset the Australian Olive growers (I wish I were making this up), the official name is "Drab Brown". =D

Personally I'm still doing what I always do, save the packets with the mildest least obnoxious warnings on them, and transfer cigarettes to that packet from new packets that are of the more 'gross out' variety.
 
I bought a pack of plain packaged smoke (winnie golds), and got exited when I thought that the they were numbered sequentially, as in 1-25 but they all have something somthing 3.

theyre also fun to use the eyeball and mouth packs to use as makeshift masks, good way to get the kids involved.

Olive packs are in my local IGA now... Literally took 5 minutes for the girl to find the correct cigarettes!

I can't find ANY plastic/metal cases.. Only those small tins for cigars.... Was told by someone at TSG that they are illegal?

Yep. Tonnes of people have been getting the wrong smokes. Waste of time for you, waste of taxpayer money fighting in court, waste of time for the courts, the lawyers and everyone involved.

Literally all that has happened is the cig companies have had their intellectual property made illegal. They've literally made the warning slightly bigger, and taken away the colours and fonts (That's all it is! COLOURS AND FONTS!) used to identify which cigs are which.

Another total joke from the Australian Government.

Funny how attached people get to brands IMO
 
Completely agree spacejunk ! The cigarette brand war is as bad as ford v HOLDEN! My PJ smoking friends look down on me for smoking winfield and vice versa. Some of them are so loyal to their brands that they would rather go without then bum those of another!

Also, if I pull a pack of rollies (looooove Port Royal and Champion Ruby) out in front of them I will be called pov, white trash etc. if it wasn't for my bung arm, I would smoke ONLY rollies, the taste is that much better. Rolling one handed takes me about 10mins and no one has gotten laid using a rolling machine lol.
 
Funny thing is I bet 90% of people couldn't tell brands apart in a blind taste test.
