The Cigarette Thread

I don't really smoke but do have a ciggie every now and then. Been going through a pack a week, sometimes less since Jan this year and go days without one so they're def not addictive with me luckily! They still give me headspins most of the time and can't even finish a whole smoke if they're of a stronger blend lol :P

Anyway, my mate has gotten me on to menthols(marlbrough ice blasts) and I've now found that I can go back to normal ciggies find the smoke to be way too harsh on my throat in comparison. Been told by a few people that menthols lower your sperm count and just wondering if there is anything out there that's a bit nicer on your throat besides rollies as I can't be arsed rolling smokes. But even if anyone wants to suggest a nice tasting rollie, i may be wiling to adjust. Honestly everything else I've tried after menthols now taste like arse and I 'cant' really smoke them.. winfields, dunhill, PJ's, bensons

I actually like the act of rolling cigarettes, but if you don't you can buy machines that do it for you.
Personally, I love Champion Ruby. IF you want a sweeter RYO, have you tried Port Royal or whatever they're called? There's like a whiskey/scotch and I think a wine and yeah.
I've found unfiltered Camels to taste delicious and be smooth as fuck, although the last pack I brought didn't taste quite like the previous one, it could have just been an old pack.

People have been saying menthol cigarettes affected your sperm count for ages, how much truth there is to that I honestly don't know. I am pretty sure tobacco smoking can contribute to impotence and perhaps a reduced sperm count, this being the case then menthols presumably wouldn't be any better but I can't really comment if they would be worse. All I know is I mainly heard it in High School which makes me a little wary that it is probably a rumour.

True that. I have heard of plenty of people mentioning it.. but have never heard of anything to back it up.

I mainly smoke when I'm out or at work so i can't see myself really having the time or parience to roll my own ciggies tbh. I also don't think I could be bothered carrying around tobacco, papers, filters a lighter since my pockets are usually always full anyway. I guess I'm just making excuses cos I'm lazy lol. Yeah my mate rates port royal pretty highly as well. I've also heard/read that the camels here are different to the ones you would find overseas and aren't anywhere near as good? Almost every deck of smokes I've bought have been different and I don't really want to waste my money on something(tailored of tobacco) that I don't wanna smoke. It would probably be easier just to give up smoking huh? :)

What you can do is roll x amount of cigarettes (depending on how much you smoke) at home and put them in a cigarette packet so you can just pluck one out when you're out and about.
Just don't do too many more than you'll smoke during the day because they dry out quicker than tailors.
Also, I don't know if I'd get a pouch of Port Royal. They're a good novelty, but I couldn't see myself getting through a whole pouch. This is just me though.
Also, pick up a pack of Camels before you call them nowhere near as good. They're great. (remember to tap the bottom/top of the pack, and sort of roll the cigarette inwards to stop baccy getting in your mouth if you end up getting a pack)

^ Good luck! What methods are you using to assist you to quit, if any?

Thank you :) It's been two weeks on thursday. I'm not really using any methods, just quitting cold turkey. I haven't tried any other methods, but I've found that I'm fairly good at just denying myself of things (lol). The tough part is having a group of friends who ALL smoke!

I found a supplier for E-cigarettes and bottles of "0 nicotine" ;) flavoured too I tried it last weekend inhaling was harsh just like a real ciggy and I may invest in one...

Good work for two weeks (almost three now!). I don't have plans to quit, but I know that having people who smoke around you when you are trying to does not help... that's probably why my mother finds it so hard to quit, because she sees all of her children smoking all the time. ;)

kinda gettin over durries for the time being... sure that first hit of 'nicotine' for the day is awsome.. but smokin em' sober is really becoming a less enjoyable experience for me personally...

even when I'm fryin on the meth I have been smokin next to no cigs.. kinda weird considering I practically used to chain smoke when I was off chops :\ guess Im too busy talking a mile-a-minute LOL. Now I think of it, I smoke more when Im pissed apposed to off me head 8o

^ I am exactly the same, smoke fuck all cigarettes when I am chilling through the week and many days my only tobacco intake is via bongs. If I am out socially then I do tend to go through like half a pack or so but yeah I can't chain smoke most the time it makes me feel ill.

sorry for the late reply.. havnt been online at all really since I posted that...

its funny you mention it because without goin into detail, (through your posts on BL) both your and my drug habit are nearly identical which is wierd since we're both from two completly different 'scenes' (melbs.~perth)

I just got a fresh pouch of Champion Ruby a few days ago. I rolled a few smokes for people and they commented on them because I was rolling them heaps fat, in a cone shape, so they were at the filters girth at the bottom and at the top the paper wasn't even closed properly/completely. Tailors are packed more, so it's not that bad imo, but I was rolling some straight ones this morning and I'm about to roll another smoke.
I think I prefer the fatter, cone shaped smokes.

^ Wait, so it was thicker at the filter end and then thin at the end you light? I used to roll like that a lot at first, then once I managed to get them straight I'd find they didn't smoke so good if I rolled them too tightly. Now I've got the hang of it and I can roll them pretty decent looking and they smoke well. :)

Other way. They're thin at the filter end, the same width/girth as the filter, and by the end you light up the paper would barely be connected.
I guess I roll my cigarettes the same way I roll my joints.
Also, I've found the difference between a good RYO and a bad one is whether you roll the paper or the tobacco. It's hard to explain, but I sort of grab the paper above where the tobacco is and roll it there, and then take the flap onto the tobacco and roll and lick and voila.

bump

winnie blues have resurrected my nicotine addiction.. why oh why must you be so much more enjoyable than every other tailor out there :( (mabey with the exception of craven golds ;) )

My first experience of nicotine withdrawals last weekend. I thought perhaps it wouldnt be too bad because I've been using Swedish Snus instead of smoking- Wrong
Looks like it got out of hand. Does anyone here have any experience with nicotine tolerance reversal? I understand that it is only partially reversible. The only reason I stopped was to try and get my tolerance back down because I wasnt getting as much enjoyment out of the snus anymore. I've cut down by 75% or so and got some gum hopefully will have another few days off on the W/E

Also is it true that you still get the same severity of withdrawal symptoms even if you cut down your intake before you stop completely?

Tolerance to nicotine seems like tolerance to opiods. Once you've had a habit, no matter how long you stay away, you're going to get back to the same level very quickly.

I've quit smoking several times now for periods longer than 3 months. Each time I've "relapsed", it's been a case of days, or at the absolute most, a week before I'm back to a pack a day. Usually goes nothing for months. 1 smoke because I'm stressed/life sucks. Few days later, another one won't hurt. Next day, another one. Two the next. Two or four the next. Then I buy a pack and it's pack a day again until I get broke enough or motivated enough to try and quit again.

^I can believe that. I suppose my question is more about that first smoke did you feel the effects more after a month of abstinence?

Personally I'm only interested in that nicotine buzz and my tolerance has gone up to a point where I dont really get much of a buzz at the moment. The nicotine dose from snus is a little bit different from a cigarette though it takes a bit longer to take effect and lasts a fair while longer for a long time I was ok with 2 or 3 a day its only been after a year or so that I started taking quite a few more- bad idea.

Tobacco

Wont be long now before the olive green hit the shelves, prices seem through the roof. Not much discussion on it here, I wish i could find alternative, take that as how you like lol. Not trying to score, but just pisses me of the Government take so much tax then give us a shitty packet to boot. :!:! . You think it will really make a black market boom here?? Discuss thanks. =D

i personally dont give a fuck how my cigarette packaging looks
honestly if the government knew what was up they would lower the price of cigs because the majority of smokers are in the lower socio-economic areas and they are the ones who dont need to be taxed up their ass
cigs are a bane to society and everyone should be trying to quit, instead of finding an alternative, try stop smoking

I got wild tobacco growing where I live. maybe illl give it a go and drying it out and doing a bit of DIY
