Rez does leave a stronger taste in your mouth then smoking some budz. For sure.

Honestly though if its a sunday and i cannot get on the rez has got me stoned for a couple hours and just taken the edge off the day ya know... many times. I mostly these days constantly have weed on me whether thats a joint for lunchtime at work or a bud for taking to a mates house..

either way i only VERY in freqeuntly run out of weed so rez isn't a problem these days.. but its really not that bad IF you use a bit of dust as well ;-)

If not ill use a tiny bit of baccy as a carrier.

Booby traps and pot palaces: All in a day's work for Strike Force Zambesi

THEY are the evil booby traps confronting police on the front line of the war on drugs.

Crime czars are turning to increasingly desperate measures to try to neutralise a massive police operation that has shut down nearly 100 hydroponic drug houses in Sydney this year, The Daily Telegraph reported.
Razor blades attached to fishing wire hung from ceilings have been found as well as metal spikes and nails protruding from floors.

Strike Force Zambesi, the first Urban Drug Eradication Program, has raided 89 homes in the city's southwest, with police destroying more than $30 million worth of hydroponically grown cannabis.Assistant Police Commissioner Frank Minnelli said yesterday: "It is big business, run mainly by Asian crime gangs. They spend large sums of money setting up the homes and then sell the operation."

He said the home set-ups had become increasingly sophisticated to maximise profits.

"A fully operational hydro home can turn over $500,000 to $1 million per crop in about 84 days," he said.
"That's from seedling to a mature plant worth $5000.

"The number of plants in each crop vary. One house had more than 600 plants."
Every home is rented and the lease is in the name of a "house sitter".

"The sitters are normally cleanskins who have their name on the leases. They are recruited from the Asian community and are often vulnerable people," Mr Minnelli said. "Some have gambling debts, but just as many are in financial hardship for other reasons, or purely just don't want to work for a living."

Once the house is rented a team of workers modify the homes, including builders and plumbers, and electricians to bypass the grid. Stolen electricity from the operations is estimated to cost more than $1 million and operators have the expertise to bypass the grid to hide a spike in usage which can lead to detection.

"Bathrooms are converted into a water filtration system to irrigate the house, carbon filters are used to try and mask the smell," Mr Minnelli said.
Previously hydro houses were crude, with windows blacked out by garbage bags and houses left unkempt.

"Now the lawns are mowed and mailboxes cleared regularly of junk mail. The first thing they do is install expensive shutters," he said.
"In nearly every case, people had no idea their neighbours were drug growers."

The police operation was launched in the southwest region in March this year by the southwest region command with assistance from the Asian Crime Squad.
Police won't reveal exactly how they uncover the location of the homes except to say they have intelligence networks in place as well as other methods."Once a house is identified our investigation begins. We don't always wait to see if someone returns to the house. The aim is eradication and disrupting the money supply to criminals," Mr Minnelli said.

"It's expensive to set the house up. We dismantle the place. All the equipment like hydro lights, irrigation systems and the transformers are taken - and that's before we destroy the drugs."
Mr Minnelli said the southwest was targeted for a number of reasons, including its socio-economic state and high availability of rental homes. He said similar programs were now being carried out by other police in Sydney.
"When Zambesi began we were busting a hydro set-up every two days. It is not the low-risk, high-profit deal they think it is," Mr Minnelli said.

The great debate..

Bush vs. Hydro?

Although I grew up smoking hydes from 13 ~ present, I would much prefer bushies anyday over hydro. I find even strong bush to be a much more social kind of a stone.. it doesnt put ya on ya hole, its alot easier for you to smoke, you can get bush with a potency of some good hydro, it tastes so much better (IMO), and more times than not (obviously depending on who ya know), its organic!

everyone elses thoughts/preferences?

I grew up with Bush mostly and Hydro was always a nice treat. I much prefer hydro these days but there is nothing wrong with good bush!

i think good hydro can't be beat, but i totally agree that bush weed can be pretty incredible.
i see some pretty abysmal-sized bags of hydro these days (especially sticks bought from 'open houses' or stingy dealers) but it's nice how you often get much more generous deals of bushies. i guess the grow-ops are much less commercially oriented, or perhaps bush bud weighs less so the deals look more impressive?
either way, i like em both. good bushies are pretty great though, just a pleasant stone and a nice earthy smell.

Yeah I like both also, and used to like hash as well, not that I see any of that anymore, but it used to be nice for a change.

I enjoyed hydro to start with, could fuck all the time when smoking it, but changed to bush for a while which was nice till it either was getting weaker of our tolerance to good for the bud. Moved back to Hydro and I personally find that I seem to get a lot more done when stoned on Hydro.

Bush buds are just as good if not better than hydro IMO, at the end it comes down to the way it was grown, strain and so forth. Where I am bush shits all over hydro as most people have no clue how to grow them properly :S

Does anyone have an idea how to stop parrots shredding mullies? I have a few maturing Malians growing outdoors and yesterday found one with crimped branches and the trunk ripped through beyond salvation. Juvenile Ringneck (aka 28 parrots) randomly vandalize roses, tomatoes, fruit trees etc. for the helluvit, often way before flowering, so they're not just hunting seed. Its gut wrenching to survive hoppers and white ants and detection only for these little fuckers to ruin the season. Can't harm them as they're protected and a physical barrier around my plants isn't an option. I've tried homemade chili spray, quassia chips, mothballs etc but nothing deters them. Ideas anyone?

I don't really have a preference between bush and hydro, personally I tend to judge each batch of weed by its own merit and not get too caught up on preconceived notions of whether its bush buds or hydro. I do tend to find as a rule bush buds will appear a more generous sack (and often will chop out that way), but its hardly surprising because as a general rule it isn't manicured quite as well and in my experience bush is always dried well, where commercial hydro can be a little wet a bit of the time. The one thing I hate about hydro is when they haven't flushed the chemicals right and the weed sparks in the cone when you light it and tastes like absolute fucking shit. Lately though all I am getting is hydro, but it is well dried and has been flushed of any chemicals so I have absolutely no complaints, actually I have been really pleased with quality.

At the end of the day I have had both really really nice bush and hydro, as well as really bad bush and hydro. There are WAY too many factors impacting quality to choose one over on that basis alone.

I also love hash poledriver, it has always been rare in the roughly ten years I have been smoking but some older smokers tell me it used to be quite common. I have had numerous brief periods of availability throughout my smoking career, including recent access to some high quality hash oil. It really is unfortunate how rare these products are in Australia, thankfully my hand grinder has a kief catcher, since I smoke quite a lot of cannabis it does leave me with a reasonable amount of that to smoke.

I find a 2.5g of bush will usually look around 2-3x the size of hydro as the hydro is far heavier. They equal the same if they are chopped up though, a tiny nug of hydro always ends up being way more than I thought.

but some older smokers tell me it used to be quite common

it was very common, one of my main options when i started smoking pot in the late 80's or possibly the early 90's, the blocks had stamps or logos and foil or cellophane around them, mostly was black, sometimes blonde or oils. Apparently it used to come over in shipping containers quite alot back then to our ports in mass, possibly by yachts too, but now days i dont read much about many hash busts, a few tho, pretty rare. Some hippies bring in charisé or however u spell it in sometimes, u smoke it thru the chillum is it? And that stuff is like really strong hash i think, something special, made my mate spew ages ago hehe.

^ I think you might be referring to Charas? It is a common type of soft, dark high quality hashish that is commonly available in India and Nepal. I have never had the pleasure of part taking in it but I would give up my right nut to do so. Shit seems heavenly...

^ speaking of hash i have only tried it once it was shown to me in a cube and smoked through a bong shaped as a camel back in 99. Was good shit and made us goto dominos up the road when it kicked in haha!

^ im jealous, i was offered hash last august but didnt take it as i was very high on 4-5 pills at that time, i wish i did though cos it was good shit from what my mate said and how he looked haha
