Anyone tried mango kush? damn that shit is lethal lol weird thing is it smelt and tasted like mango! with a pungent lemon smell especially when grinded. Awesome stuff:)

i mainly get blueberry. no discernible hint of blueberry smell/taste, but i believe the name is in reference to the shapes of the buds - like bunches of berries. very nice stuff.

Dope quadruples in THC strength

Dope quadruples in THC strength

Sophisticated growing techniques have led to super-strength strains of cannabis, with some of the most potent dope coming from Northland, says a senior drugs investigator.

However, a drug foundation spokesman says it is difficult to draw conclusions on whether the increased strength has led to greater problems with cannabis.

A project involving the police and Environmental Science and Research (ESR) found THC levels (the primary intoxicant in cannabis) was now more than four times stronger than it was when ESR last tested in 1996.

Whangarei police Detective Sergeant John Miller, who has 18 years experience dealing with cannabis-related crime in Northland, said samples sent from the region had continually strengthened and was some of the strongest in the country.

Police and ESR used sophisticated hydroponic equipment to complete three cannabis growing cycles, nursing six plants at a time, 18 in total, to maturity. The study revealed the drug was more than four times stronger than it was last tested in 1996.

THC levels varied between 4.35 per cent and 25.3 per cent during the study completed under Ministry of Health licence between 2004 and 2006. When ESR last tested the Class C drug, it found an average THC level of 6 per cent.

In last year's annual cannabis operation, 34,917 cannabis plants were destroyed during the Northland phase over summer, well over a third of the national total of 97,000 plants.

Police believe THC levels have increased significantly in recent years due to criminals using more sophisticated growing methods, helped by the availability of specialised equipment, like that sold at hydroponic growing shops.

Mr Miller said a decade ago the bulk of the cannabis grown was outdoors but with the advent of indoor operations there was much more control over quality.

"With the indoor operations there comes sophistication and growing, to get an optimum product," Mr Miller said.

Different strains of the plant had been cloned, which had gradually increased THC levels. Northland cannabis samples had also been tested by ESR and regularly ranked near the top, he said.

"We are not seeing poor quality cannabis. It's all good quality."

New Zealand Drug Foundation executive director Ross Bell said New Zealand didn't monitor THC levels in cannabis 30 years ago, but there was no denying cannabis was getting stronger.

Cannabis today was stronger than 30 years ago "but we had very low quality cannabis at that stage", Mr Bell said.

"In terms of [higher quality cannabis] leading to more psychosis, that's supposition because there's not been a great deal of cannabis research."

He said stronger cannabis could mean that smokers used less of it.

"Drugs affect people in different ways and cannabis is the most common illegal drug used here, with pretty easy access to it for many people.

"So it's right to be concerned about the health and mental health effects of cannabis, but it's more difficult to say that because there's higher-potency cannabis the health and mental health effects are going to be far greater," Mr Bell said.

Research on cannabis and psychosis was being done in Dunedin and Christchurch and he awaited the results of that research with interest.

If you notice any suspicious behaviour that could be linked to cannabis, contact your local police station or 0800 CRIMESTOPPERS. All information left on Crimestoppers line will be dealt with by a Northland police officer.

It just means most normal people would use less. There is a limit reached where I just can't be fucked packing another. If its good shit and only needs 2 cones then so be it, if it is a shopping bag full of kiff then it might take 20. To worry that kids today are in any more danger than their parents time is stupid. Like someone mentioned earlier you never hear authorities worrying about the type of strain available. I'd prefer indica over sativa if given the choice.

I'm curious about how many Aussie growers are sowing 'exotic' indoor seed/cuttings outdoors. Indoors varieties grown under carefully controlled conditions are a predictable commodity but in my experience they can behave radically differently outside under the Aussie sun. For instance, Hawaiian indica rocketed up to nearly 3 meters (sativa trait) with heads like coke bottles (indica). Took 8 months to get there though. White widow just stretched out and grew into an airy big ball with a mass of small dense buds 7 months later. Didn't have any success with White rhino - 2 out of 3 looked good early on then turned male. Every season is just a bit more interesting with a wildcard in amongst the bushpigs.

Hey guys, I am looking to invest in a nice glass piece but am not overly familiar with the varieties and the benefits of each. Generally I have always been a bong and hash pipe smoking dude, lately I have taken to smoking joints and the occasional blunt but of course I still keep my bong on hand. I am pretty sick of my bong (it’s pretty shit and very dirty) and I have been informed all these new 'pourers' fucking suck (as well as being relatively expensive), plus I honestly feel that using a water filtered device has negative impact on my lungs.

After reading, an article recently posted by tripppAR, about the lack of real negative effects cannabis smoke has on the lungs, and personally knowing a few pure cannabis smokers who seem much healthier than the rest of us who smoke a mix. I am seriously re evaluating my use of tobacco with cannabis (except in spliffs, gotta have some baccy in a nice spliff!). The only problem is right now I find pure cannabis smoke to be VERY harsh.

The two main types of non water filtered, glass pieces I am aware of are steamrollers and glass spoons. Normally I would think the steamroller is right up my alley, as I do like taking a large hit, but I also wonder if it might be a bit hard for me to go onto such an unforgiving smoking device with my current aversion to pure cannabis smoke. I also worry if this type of smoking device would be more inclined to push my tolerance to the point spliffs became less effective. In addition, do these come with screens? Even though I would not be mixing, I would still intend to grind my weed so a device with an adequate screen is essential.

The other option I can think of is a glass spoon/bowl, this option seems like it would be easier on my lungs/throat, and that it would make raising my tolerance to joints less of an issue. I guess the main questions I have about a spoon is do they get you high as efficiently/economically as a steamroller? And is it a great deal more hassle to clean than a steamroller? I know that these have a screen, so would definitely be suitable for smoking ground cannabis.

I guess the last factor I am concerned about is enjoy ability of the smoke, but I suppose that is really going to be subjective. I enjoy both a relaxing mellow smoke and taking monster rips, but currently I have spliffs for a leisurely smoke. I just worry fat hits of pure cannabis from a steamroller might be biting off more than I can currently chew.

I am currently doing as much research as I can but most information out there is really geared towards the North American style smoker and doesn't really answer some of my concerns about the switch from Aussie style smoking. I would really appreciate anyones thoughts/opinions/experiences or even speculation at this point. I apologise in advance for the fact I asked like a million questions, I just only have the money for one good piece and it is important to me that I get the right one for me. Thanks guys!

i used to love my glass "colour changing" pipe. i don't know the two types of smoking apparatus you are referring to - the yanks have some pretty nifty paraphernalia - but if you're concerned about the health aspect, i would seriously advise you invest in a vaporiser, man.
i had been procrastinating about it for a year or two, and i finally got one about 6 months ago.
it's smooth, tasty, and gets you very nicely toasted.
obviously, you get what you pay for, and i'd never had a great experience with the cheaper ones in the past, but i absolutely adore my vapir n2o.

A steamroller is basically a hollow glass tube with a bowl on it, you cover one end of the tube (the side the bowl is closest too) with your hand and then toke on the bowl until the tube is full of smoke, at this point you would remove the flame from the bowl, take your hand off the carb and quickly inhale the contents of the tube/steamroller.

The other pipe I described I am pretty sure is what you are calling a colour changing pipe. It seems to me that a colour change would be smoother but possibly would get me less high. The thing is though I know they have screens and am not sure if steam rollers do. Also, getting a better hit from a steamroller pipe might not be good in the long run because I am worried it could possibly ruin my tolerance for spliffs?

I have zero interest in a vape man, its too expensive and I don't think I would like it as much as smoking. I am sure as I get older I will add one to my collection but as it is I smoke my weed. Really I mainly just want to know what peoples thoughts are on a glass bowl versus a steam roller, if a steam roller has a screen, and if any one is a great deal harsher than the other.

Thanks for your input though brother. :)

yeah, ok i just did a google search.
the 'spoon' pipe is the variety i used for years.
i had the same issue with bongs/smoking through water as you. caused all kinds of horrible coughs and such.
i probably got my first glass pipe in 2004 i reckon, something like that...and every time i've broken one, i've replaced it because they're so nice to smoke through. they used to be hard to find in australian head shops, in my area anyway.
now, i can't tell you much about the steamroller - i think i used a bamboo equivalent once, and it wasn't the best, but probably no comparison to glass. i would be wary of the end heating up though (too much to put your hand over the end) and i can't help but think you'd end up with a resin-covered hand.

the spoon pipes, on the other hand, fit nicely into your palm and they're just a nice classy way to puff on a bit of weed.
i would certainly advise using a screen, as i once broke a pipe by constantly stoking the hole, and eventually the heat weakened it, so when i pushed the ash/resin that was blocking it through, the glass cracked.
i still have a nice spoon pipe and though i don't use it as much as the vape, it's nice for a change. i suppose smoking feels a bit weird to me now, but those pipes were my standby for years.

they're very smooth, and everyone i've ever loaded one for has said "wow! that's nice!"
it was my choice of smoking vessel for years, for my heaviest smoking years.

i wouldn't worry about tolerance issues with either of these pipes - probably only bucket bongs would cause any issues with that, i reckon, and even then, joints are something else altogether i reckon - all that repeat toking gets me really high.

^ It is funny, I am kind of a jaded bong user. I quit bongs for months and really only got back onto them for economy and to help cut back on drinking (sadly the latter isn't going so well :|) but make sure to still skin up atleast one spliff most days. There is no question that bongs are more economical but these days I can seldom be fucked to sit and smoke bong after bong, a fat joint however I am happy to toke on till kingdom come... Particularly when I am pissed I find a fat spliff before bed puts me on my arse like nothing else.

Still though, when I first quit bongs I did tend to find there was an adjustment period where it took a few weeks of smoking joints to get a real good high from them. A lot of people trash talk joints but I really think they are only wasteful if you don't know how to roll or smoke them properly, to me right now a spliff with a high quality bourbon and coke or lemonade is a pleasure that few can rival.

I just really need a piece for when I am low on supplies and need to economise, and for those late night/early morning wakings where you just wanna take a few fat hits and get back to sleep. I find by the time I chop up, roll and smoke a joint at that stage it has to be a pretty fat one to put me back out, where a handful of cones will do the trick easy.

Those colour changing pipes do seem really chill, but joints are also chill. I thought a steamroller would be a good replacement for a bong in terms of forcing thick smoke into the lungs quickly, my only real hangup is if my lungs would be able to handle that straight green. Hopefully I will make it to some head shops through the week and get to suss out my options, will definately post back on what I end up getting and how it goes. :)

yeah, i hear you man. before i got the vaporiser, i smoked joints and pipes exclusively.
joints were generally for social smoking, and usually would hit a pipe or two when i was by myself.
these days, i generally use my glass pipe when i don't have much left, and rather than pack a vape or two i could have 3-5 small cones to economise. i also like glass pipes for smoking dmt, but that's a whole different discussion.
