Police speak with gunned down bikie Peter Zervas

HELLS Angel Peter Zervas was leaning against a car after being shot multiple times when police arrived at the scene last night.

Superintendent Peter Lennon of Campsie Local Area Command said a Triple O call was made by a friend of the man.

Police have already spoken to Zervas as he lies recovering in St George Hospital and is expected to help with inquiries, Detective Lennon said.

"We have started to initially speak to the victim, because of his medical condition we will go back to conduct further inquiries with him at the appropriate time.

The shooting came one week after his younger brother, Anthony Zervas, died as a result of a violent brawl involving 15 members of the Hells Angels and Comancheros bikies at Sydney airport.

The gunman approached the victim from the rear of the vehicle, a white Hyundai Excel, after it pulled up at the garage entrance to the Punchbowl Road unit.

Zervas was shot in the right shoulder and upper chest, right hip and right foot and was conscious after the attack.

"A number of shots were discharged from a small calibre hand gun,'' Detective Lennon said.

"He's very lucky to be alive.''

Neighbours reported hearing eight shots in close succession.

Detective Lennon said Campsie police were working with gang squad detectives and StrikeForce Raptor on the investigation, but did not link the incident to recent bikie gang violence.

Police have asked for witnesses to come forward who may have seen a man running across Punchbowl Road after the shooting and want to speak to a driver who honked his horn at him and the runner himself.

The man is described as 175cm tall, of heavy build, with long dark hair past his collar.

He was wearing a dark shirt and dark jeans.

All these gangs at war but who really knows who is firing the shots ...

The shooters are not wearing their colors or patches when attacking so for all we know this Gang Notorious or the Bandidos could be adding more fuel to the fire to the Comancheros vs Hells angels war.


Peter Zervas is lucky that the shooter must have had butterflies in the stomach or very inexperienced at firing a gun otherwise he would have got him in the head and done the job properly ... Peter is a very lucky bloke and tough as hell to be alive...

thats a good point you bring up kingpin how does a little group take on the big groups he makes them thin k they are being attacked by a larger group and watches them fight it out from the sidelines both groups are to hard heaed to sit down and figure whats going on ......its all pack mentality with these guys

Queensland will follow South Australia and NSW with legislation to outlaw motorcycle gangs, to avoid the state becoming a haven for the criminal groups.

Qld Premier Anna Bligh on Monday announced the state would prepare tough laws like those put in place in South Australia nine months ago and soon to be introduced to the NSW parliament.

NSW moved to introduce the laws after an outbreak in bikie violence, including the death of a man at Sydney Airport last week during a brawl between members of the Hells Angels and the rival bikie gang Comancheros.

Ms Bligh said Queensland had been watching the progress of SA's laws with a view to introducing similar powers, but the recent surge in violence had increased the urgency.

"Like all Australians, the Queensland government has been watching recent events involving bikie gangs in NSW with some distress and horror," she told reporters in Brisbane.

Ms Bligh said the new legislation "goes to the heart of the right of association", and was not dissimilar to anti-terror legislation.

"An organisation can become a proscribed organisation and it then becomes an illegal activity to be a member of that organisation or to associate with it," she said.

"These are very serious laws. They will require careful consideration."

Ms Bligh said a national approach to the gangs would be preferable but Queensland could not wait for the other states to act.

"I don't want the sort of thing we've seen in NSW in the last couple of weeks to ever find a home in Queensland," she said.

Under the SA model, the police applies to the state's attorney-general to outlaw a group.

SA's attorney-general is currently considering the first application of its laws, which would outlaw the Finks motorcycle gang.

The NSW laws would require an application to the Supreme Court to outlaw a group.

Queensland will consider which of these two options to adopt.

The government will also consider whether gangs proscribed in other states will automatically be outlawed in Queensland.

Opposition justice spokesman Mike Horan said the coalition had introduced anti-gang laws to parliament in 2007, but Labor voted them down.

Mr Horan said Labor had effectively denied police the powers they needed to tackle organised crime for years.

"It is only after the media publicity surrounding the latest bikie gang violence that they are finally considering the tougher laws Queensland should have had years ago," he said.

Police Minister Neil Roberts said Queensland had 14 known bikie gangs, with more than 800 members, mainly active on the Gold Coast.

The police service's Task Force Hydra, targeting outlaw motorcycle gangs, has laid 931 charges including attempted murder, arson, extortion, robbery and drug trafficking since its inception in February 2007.

The government will consult legal groups on the legislation, which could be in place by mid-year.

Quick question for those perusing the forum with some legal background: these anti-bikie legislations, are they an infringment on basic civil liberties? Surely the associations themselves aren't illegal; and the activities that are illegal can already be appropriately dealt with by LE. Could these legislations be stretched in the future to apply to other groups/associations?
 
Slowly but surely they chip away at our civil rights, through the use of scare tactics, that will mean total control before we know it.

This isn't the only example of it happening in Australian society at the moment. :\


In answer to your question though - Yes, they are an infringement and have he potential to flow on to any other groups that the government deems a 'threat'. The associations aren't illegal at the moment per se, however, a quick change to legislation will change that.

BOTH the police and the bikies want him - Comanchero chief Mahmoud "Mick" Hawi may just be Sydney's most wanted man.

The Daily Telegraph has revealed Hawi is said to have a $100,000 bounty on his head issued by a rival gang, possibly the Hells Angels.

Police are also seeking to find Hawi and question him over a fatal brawl with rival Hells Angels at Sydney airport.

Police have been unable to find Hawi. Instead, they have been involved in negotiations with his lawyers to have him present himself to police for questioning.

Hawi's laywer Lesly Randle said Hawi had arranged to meet gangs squad detectives at a police station yesterday but that this did not go ahead because his barrister "became unavailable". Negotiations over a meeting were continuing.

Yesterday, Hawi was not at the two properties in Sydney's south linked on the public record to the 28-year-old Comanchero national president.

His large family home in southern Sydney had mail piled up at the front gate and no one answered the door.

There was also no answer at another address, also in southern Sydney, a housing commission unit linked to one of Hawi's companies.

Both bikie and law enforcement sources have told The Daily Telegraph that they have heard of the alleged bounty and that Hawi's life is at risk. "He'll be holed up in a hotel somewhere," one said.

A source said he was informed the bounty had been issued from the "cashed-up" Hells Angels, whose Guildford sergeant-at-arms Peter Zervas, 32, is in hospital after being shot on Sunday night at Punchbowl.

No charges have been laid over the shooting. Zervas' brother Anthony, 29, was killed in the airport brawl allegedly between the Hells Angels and Comanchero seven days before.

The Comanchero are strongly suspected of being behind Peter Zervas' shooting, as a "pre-emptive" strike against a revenge attack over his brother's murder.

"There's no doubt if the Angels found out where Hawi was, in my view, they'd go after him, whether there was a price or not," one source said.

He wont be at a hotel as people would recognize him from the photo above and dob him in and imagine someone calling the hells angles to collect some $$$ for telling them where he is ..

This bloke would be hiding on a rural property around NSW somewhere or another house of his that the police don't know about and would have a few boys with him to go get his food and stuff & of course protecting him.

If he was smart ... heading down tasmania be good idea or use that fake passport to get out of the country lol
 
true he wont do the micheal bolten out of the country he would loose to much face but tassie always a good hiden spot if i were him id be worried about incoming charges also over the blue at the airport ....as if the right hand dont get ya the left 1 will
 
i doubt prices will go up for gas more like quality goes down for the gak that they put out and call gas its shit quality anyway ...or so swim hears

I thought it was the opposite hehe gettin rock whizz ill let u guys know how that went in sydney:) Why do people assume that only the bikies run the drug business? Other counties citizens are responsible ofr most businesses as they see a massive profit here in AU. As long as our dollar is up, there will always be drugs for the same. I have seen pill prices go very low in europe where the currency is gettin shitter day by day.
 
hm this is going to end up very steamy, hawi can run but he cant hide.. tip offs will be given to both police and hells angels sooner or later.

the quality of the shards at the moment is fkn shit, cant wait untill this shit slows down and we start seeing quality again.

The leader of the Comanchero bikie gang has turned himself in to police.

Mick Hawi has been wanted since the Sydney Airport brawl which resulted in the death of Hells Angels associate, Anthony Zervas.

He has been in hiding ever since, with rumours the Hells Angels have put a $100,000 bounty on his head over the brawl.

Police even raided his home last week, but Hawi was not there at the time.

Five Comancheros were earlier charged with affray over the March 22 airport incident.

Hawi and his lawyer, Lesly Randle, are now talking to police.

"In accordance with the undertaken given by Mr Hawi and his legal representatives, I accompanied (him) to meet with the police," Ms Randle said.

"We will make an application for bail at 2pm (AEST) today."

Wonder how much evidence they have against him. Even if the ydont he will be killed sooner or later im afraid. Shit will get nasty.
