The Bikie Wars

Bikie politics, both between clubs and within, both at a chapter and national level, roll on behind doors year after year. People go missing or cop floggings and make statements of no complaint if the police come a knocking. There's no need for the public to enter their world and the police are happy for them to do their own thing... until things become a public issue much like the situation with various Melbourne figures until a couple of years back. Look how that ended up.

Yeah... there was a highly-unpublicised attack at Qbar in Melbourne, allegedly instigated by the Bandidos one sunday night, about 3 months back. Apparently they knocked a security guard out, punched on with the manager, and made them promise to remain tight lipped about the incident. Even chicks weren't getting let into the club at one stage. weird shit...but it's part & parcel of the bikie world i guess.

NEWS: 7.4.09 'Alleged bikie drug ring smashed, say NSW police'

POLICE have smashed an alleged drug ring linked to two outlaw bikie gangs after simultaneous raids on eight NSW properties, including a clubhouse.

Six people have been arrested, including two men at gunpoint at a McDonald's restaurant in Sydney, after a four-month police investigation into the sale of speed and cocaine.

Officers from Strike Force Kook conducted a number of covert controlled drug purchases from suspected dealers in recent months as part of the operation, police said.

Two men, both aged 22, allegedly linked to the Rebels were arrested at gunpoint in the car park of a McDonald's restaurant at St Peters just after 3pm.

Detectives allegedly recovered a large amount of drugs at the scene and the men were taken to Newtown police station for questioning.

Police then raided eight Sydney and south coast properties.

A 37-year-old alleged member of the Comancheros was arrested at a home in Hurstville in Sydney's south, while another team of police raided the clubhouse of the Cronulla chapter of the Rebels in Taren Point.

Two men and a woman were arrested in a raid on a Batemans Bay property, which police believe is linked to the Rebels.

The raid allegedly uncovered an amphetamine factory and a large amount of drug precursors were found hidden in the garden.

The scene has been secured pending analysis by the Police Chemical Operations Team and Hazmat firefighters, police said.

Police carried out other raids at Sutherland, Arncliffe, Oatley, Hurlstone Park, Dulwich Hill and Leppington looking for drugs and firearms.

One of the targeted premises was a tattoo shop in Eton Street, Sutherland.

Central Metropolitan Regional Commander Catherine Burn said Strike Force Kook had smashed a significant alleged drug manufacturing and distribution network.

"Police will allege dealers supplied undercover police with a large amount of illegal drugs over a couple of months," she said.

"Our investigations, we allege, have also led us to the manufacturers of the drugs offered to police.
"Any OMCG (outlaw motorcycle gang) that engages in similar illegal activity can expect an identical response from police."

^^^ would have been funny had they busted Notorious, after all their drug-denials... heh. comancheros are in a fair bit of strife from all angles, looks like.

On ten news right at the end they had a special report saying bikies arrested blah blah ... showed a cops in full gear ...

Hells Angels tattoo parlor opening up in commancheros territory 10 months or so ago was cause for it and police know this and thus why they are going after Comancheros because they had shot up and firebombed the place over a week period and then the Hells Angels Clubhouse had a big bomb dropped at the front which all points to Comancheros ... The hells angel who got shot up and is in hospital is co-operating with police.

I'm still yet to hear a press release from Alex Vella ( president of the Rebels ) .. He be very worried at the moment ...

This is a big warning to all other gangs ...

Bail application for bikie adjourned

18:59 AEST Tue Apr 7 2009

A Sydney bikie chief who sought peace talks with fellow outlaw gangs following an airport brawl has been named by police as a main instigator of the fatal clash.

Comanchero chief Mahmoud "Mick" Hawi, 28, of Bexley, was on a March 22 flight to Sydney that preceded a violent clash between members of his gang and Hells Angels, police said.

He has been refused bail on a charge of affray related to the melee that rolled through Sydney's Qantas domestic terminal, resulting in the death of Anthony Zervas, 29.

Mr Zervas's brother, senior Hells Angel Peter Zervas, 32, was shot in the chest, shoulder, hip and foot as he sat in his car in the driveway of his southwest Sydney home a week after the brawl.

He was released from St George Hospital on Tuesday - nine days after being rushed there in a critical condition.

Amid escalating tensions among bikie groups and growing public concern, Hawi called for a meeting of outlaw motorcycle gang leaders to "discuss the issues".

Hawi's legal team planned to make a bail application at Sydney's Central Local Court on Tuesday, arguing their client was attempting to be a mediator amid the violence.

Instead, lawyer John Korn requested an adjournment as fresh information was presented by police, including details about Hawi's involvement in the airport fight.

Tensions began when Hawi and up to five other Comancheros boarded the flight and found Hells Angels Sydney president Derek Wainohu already seated on the aircraft.

Two of the 150 witnesses, who include passengers and Qantas flight crew, said they heard Hawi say: "Get the boys to meet us at the other end."

A witness allegedly told police that when the men disembarked at Sydney's Qantas domestic terminal, a man wearing white, identified as Hawi, grabbed another man.

"This witness states the man in white (Hawi) grabbed a man from behind, pulling his arms back and the man slipped out of his shirt and ran away," police documents tendered to court said.

"The fighting continues and the witness states that the man in white (Hawi) held another male facedown on the ground, whilst another person involved in the violence kicked the person being held.

"This witness states that the person being held on the ground by the man in white (Hawi) is kicked twice in the kidney area."

Mr Korn asked Magistrate David Armati to adjourn the bail application until Thursday next week.

Hawi, dressed in prison greens, appeared only briefly in court, guarded by six Corrective Services personnel, while plainclothes and uniformed police were also present.

Outside court, Mr Korn's instructing solicitor Lesly Randle explained "the purpose of the adjournment is so we can ascertain what case at this stage is against Mr Hawi".

While police allegations put Hawi at the centre of the airport violence, Ms Randle said prosecutor Alan Baghurst admitted there was no CCTV footage showing the fight.

"So there's no CCTV footage of the incident either upstairs or the incident downstairs," she said, referring to the domestic terminal.

Meanwhile, at Burwood Local Court, alleged Hells Angel Brian Brown, 29, was remanded in custody on charges of possessing a firearm in a public place and possessing an unauthorised pistol, ammunition and a prohibited weapon.

His matters are due to return to the same court on Wednesday next week.

Police hammer drops on bikies

FAMILIES enjoying a meal at a suburban McDonald's watched in terror yesterday as elite police threw one man to the ground and dragged another from a car following an undercover cocaine sting.

Just after 3pm, undercover police arrived at the fast food restaurant in St Peters where two men with links to the Rebels allegedly tried to sell them a large amount of cocaine.

Moments later members of the Tactical Operation Unit pounced on Cronulla Rebels member Daniel Isbester, wearing a fluorescent orange shirt, and an associate.

Do you have any information about the bikie war? Have you seen anything in your neighbourhood? Call us in confidence on (02) 9288 3413 or email [email protected].

The arrest of the two 22-year-olds was followed by another arrest in a fast food restaurant, this time in Hurstville. A 37-year-old Comanchero was similarly brought down.

Their arrests were the trigger for a carefully co-ordinated series of eight simultaneous raids with six arrests across Sydney and the South Coast.

Peter Zervas out of hospital

One of the prize catches came at Bingi, near Batemans Bay, on the South Coast, where an active amphetamines factory, allegedly run by the Rebels, was shut down and two men and a woman arrested.

The alleged lab was located in the home of Rebels Batemans Bay chapter president Adrian Farquar, who has not been charged and was not to be found last night. But at least one of the men in the house is believed to be a fellow Rebel.

Special section: Inside the bikie bloodshed

A large amount of drug pre-cursors were allegedly found hidden in the garden of the property and the scene has been secured pending analysis by the police chemical operations team and hazmat firefighters. Police will go in again this morning to determine the lab's full extent but it was believed to be in the middle of making amphetamines.

Assistant Commissioner Catherine Burn said Strike Force Kook had smashed a significant alleged drug manufacturing and distribution network. "Police will allege dealers supplied undercover police with a large amount of illegal drugs over a couple of months," she said.

"Our investigations, we allege, have also led us to the manufacturers of the drugs offered to police.

"Any outlaw motorcycle gang that engages in similar illegal activity can expect an identical response from police." It was the culmination of a carefully-executed four-month covert operation run by the central metropolitan region enforcement squad, involving numerous undercover drug buys.

Editorial: A win over the bikies

It allegedly implicated two of Australia's biggest bikie gangs in large-scale drug supply.

Assistant Commissioner Burn said police had smashed an alleged drug distribution network involving the sale of amphetamines (speed) and cocaine linked to two bikie gangs - the Rebels and Comanchero.

The major show of strength led to the arrests of five men and a woman and a major clandestine drugs lab at Batemans Bay was busted. As the two men were taken from McDonalds to Newtown police station, across the city at Cronulla police rescue squad officers smashed their way through the fortified windows of the clubhouse of the Rebels' Cronulla chapter.

The Daily Telegraph witnessed the armed police ripping out the steel bars behind the glass as they forced their way into the plain single storey building in Alexander Ave at Taren Point.

Dressed in white overalls, the police could be heard barking out orders as they watched each other's backs. "Go left. Go right."

The clubhouse was empty but about 30 minutes later, a bikie turned up. Gesturing to the damage, he blamed a couple of bikies getting into trouble for bringing the full power of the law on to them all.

"There's nothing in there," he said. No-one but police were inside.

A tattoo parlour in Eton St, Sutherland, linked to Cronulla Rebels president John Devine was also raided.

Other raids were carried out at Sutherland, Arncliffe, Oatley, Hurlstone Park, Dulwich Hill - where a large stash of cash was allegedly found - and Leppington as police looked for drugs and firearms.

The massive operation involved the tactical operations unit (TOU), the public order and riot squad (PORS), the dog squad, the police rescue squad and additional police from the Redfern, Ashfield, Sutherland, St George, Hurstville, Marrickville, Miranda and Far South Coast Local Area Commands.

Idiots clearly didn't watch the first season of underbelly and see how sucessful all-out-war was for those involved down in Melbourne. This was so inevitable, i don't know why they need to fight over drug turf, I could be wrong but I reckon the demand for drugs in Sydney is nowhere near close to being fully met.

Most of the dealers in Sydney I've known have had no problems referring me on to other dealers of the same drug if, for example, they're not in the area just for that evening. At first this seemed to make no sense at all being counter to business principles but i eventually realised that they could do this because theres enough business to go around, always and that drugs wasn't really in anyway a competitive business. They just need to look at selling drugs some place other than nightclubs, half the nightclubs they fight over are a long way from being in any way drug hotspots. Make drugs not war i say.

Indeed. The market is so huge and supply small enough that they seem to be able to get away with producing really shonky product.

What are they fightiing over? There speed is shit and the pills are worse lol

Its so damn funny watching Sydneys drug war when most of the drugs are shit. Low quality and very high prices. In Europe where i grew up a few maffia families were fighting over the drug trade and the prices droped and the area was flooded. Where are all the good drugs then?

the article mentions coke - so probably that
although a lot of the coke to filter its way through the bikie chain nowadays is synthetic
someone's making a lot of money from very little, somewhere

Thank fuck I'm over in WA? haha
I heard that coffin cheaters might be lending a hand in to help hells angels? >.>
And from what i saw, they came over to re-arm.

I expect good drugs to flood, and prices to drop.
or the exact opposite, depends if they want to get their name out or not...
Anyone over in syd thats high up, but not rolling with hell's angels, GTFO? lol
just my $0.02

NEWS: 8.4.09 - Police claim Rebels bikies trying to sell cocaine at McDonald's

TWO alleged Rebels bikies arrested at gunpoint in an undercover police operation at a McDonald's car park in Sydney were attempting to sell more than half a kilogram of cocaine, a court has been told.

One of them was also trying to sell a similar quantity of the amphetamine drug known as speed, police allege.

Three men with alleged links to the Rebels and Comancheros bikie gangs have been charged after police raided eight NSW properties and arrested six people yesterday following a covert four-month police operation.

Jason Anevski, 23, appeared in Newtown Local Court today charged with supplying a commercial amount of cocaine.

Wearing a cream-hooded jacket, he nodded to supporters at the back of the court as he appeared in the dock and did not apply for bail, which was formally refused.

Daniel James Isbester, 22, chose not to appear in the same court.

Police allege Mr Isbester attempted to sell 521g of methamphetamine and 478g of cocaine when he was arrested.

The pair were arrested in the car park of a McDonald's restaurant at St Peters in Sydney's inner west about 3pm (AEST) yesterday.

Mr Isbester has been charged with two counts of supplying a commercial quantity of speed and cocaine, and knowingly dealing in the proceeds of crime, namely $4919.65, and attempting to conceal them.

Mr Isbester did not apply for bail and it was formally refused by Magistrate Bernard Kennedy.

Both men were remanded in custody to appear at Sydney's Central Local Court on April 14.

A third man, aged 37 and allegedly a Comanchero gang member, was arrested at Hurstville in Sydney's south and charged with supplying a commercial quantity of cocaine.

He was due to appear in Sutherland Local Court later today.

^^^521g of meth... well looks like we won't be seeing ice around for a while. not that i was sad to see the back of that drug. what happened to the days where bikies were dead against it? unless they're using their terms interchangeably, and actually meant speed... in which case, i am gravely disappointed, as there is not enough pseudo-based speed anywhere anymore!!!! /rant

It sounds as if the two guys caught at McDonalds were just high level errand boys. I know from my own sources that bikies use people who while affiliated wouldn't rightly be considered bikies to do work like this. So not much of a bust at all.
