The Big & Dandy Seizures & Blackouts on Psychedelics Thread

I'd agree with this. As documented here It seemed to be related to sleep, was almost similar to some kind of looping sleep paralysis.

I've noticed that the 'brain zaps' during mushroom trips are, basically, the same exact sensation felt when coming out of the sleep paralysis state; the being 'shocked' back into the waking state.
However, sometimes the sleep paralysis 'shocks' turn much more into a rather steady pulsating state which grows to an alarming overwhelming feeling sort of like being electrocuted. Likewise, on high doses or during intense moments of revelation in peak mushroom trances, the seizures dont stop as quickly as they should, or at least, seem to last much longer then they actually do, possibly because of being totally disoriented from the trance and exaggerating time.
Who can really know. It's frightening and joyful orgasmic in the same moment, not unlike every other paradoxical reaction to communicating with the 3rd impersonal party between being and nothing.

You sure it was a seizure, and not just an anxiety attack backed by dizziness from not eating and being wide awake for way too long? I'm not doubting you, just wondering because I've thought similar things before.
I've had an experience on amphetamines were I was getting dizzy every time I stood up for around 6 hours until I managed to get some food in me (which was a chore because I was in the mountains hiking for days and only had peanuts which were slicing my throat because I had no water; very bad mistake lol) and other times where I was so nervous that there was something wrong with my body that I instantly got pins and needles in every extremity, then my entire body went numb, I got dizzy and sick and blacked out and hit my head on my coffee table.
When I woke up and was back to normal, I realized that I had been awake for over 72 hours and was so delusional that I thought feeling my pulse in my lower stomach was incontrovertible proof that an artery had burst by my stomach. Which, of course, gave me my first anxiety attack and I fainted, something which I had not prior to nor since experienced, even on ungodly amounts of mushrooms/acid.
The mind is a powerful trickster when you put yourself in a state of overexposure and uncertainty lol. If you take mushrooms with the fear of a potential seizure, you may very well end up bringing something similar about by accident by falling into an anxious mentality.
Good luck.

my cousin had a seizure on shrooms. we were playing mx vs atv unleashed on xbox and all of a sudden he layed back on the bed and started arching and turned super pale and kinda shaking. i literally smacked the shit out of him and he came to but was pretty fucked up the rest of the night. he said he felt weird up to like a month later. scary shit, especially while tripping!!!

i think the video game had something to do with it cause they all have an epileptic seizure warning on them.

Yeah, I think flashing pictures lower the seizure threshold to some degree as do many drugs.

I'm positive it was a seizure. My friend freaked out and called 911 so I also got a hospital stay out of the deal. Lost 24 hours of memory... At the time of the seizure I had been up 48 hours, had nothing to eat, and it was 100 degrees outside. None of that going to go on this time. I'll be well rested, hydrated, & well nourished. I think I may give the shrooms a go. :)

happened again the other night, seems i am prone to it :\ only had 30 lib caps too. scary stuff :\

I almost passed out on mushrooms recently, actually. It was only 2g, but they were potent as hell, and I was having the strongest mushroom trip of my life (far stronger than a 6g trip I'd had before). I was standing and talking to some friends, and I started to feel faint... I tried to ignore it at first, because I thought I was imagining things, but then my vision started to dim, and I started swaying. I had to crouch down immediately to try to get more blood flow to my head, which alleviated it. If I hadn't done that, I definitely would have hit the ground.

A few seconds later I had felt extremely nauseated, and had to run away from my friends (also tripping), so they wouldn't see me puke if I had to. One of them was having a bad trip because it was also the strongest she'd ever experienced mushrooms, and the LAST thing she needed to see was someone else getting sick off the same batch.

Anyway, later, lying in my tent (outdoor music festival), I noticed that I was having severe heart palpitations. This seems like a probable cause of my nearly passing out, my heart just wasn't pumping efficiently enough to get enough oxygen to my brain.

Mushrooms are bizarre and unpredictable, but I have never heard that arrhythmia is a possible a side-effect of consuming Psilocybe sp.!

Anyway... I didn't go into a bad mental state from the physical effects or my friend's bad trip, so it wasn't due to tension or anxiety. On the contrary, I felt incredibly calm, and even excessively so. Knowing that, and based on others' responses here, it sounds like psilocybin may indeed lower blood pressure enough for someone to pass out, which might also trigger heart palpitations? Has anyone actually seen evidence of this? I tend to have fairly low blood pressure to begin with.

happened to me too

I had only eaten half an 8th, but had been smoking weed all day long. I was in my friends car and decided to get out and go to the bathroom, and everything went black. I started yelling for my boyfriend, telling him "I can't see!" and the next thing I know, I'm lying in the road with all my friends around me, yelling my name. Unfortunately, I pissed my pants since I passed out with a full bladder, which definitely sucked! I sat in his front yard for a good fifteen minutes to regain the energy to change my pants and smoked a cigarette, but was fine afterwards.

My friends said that my eyes had rolled back and I made weird noises and had what looked like a small seizure for less than five seconds.

I had smoked a lot of ganja, not eaten or drank much all day, and stood up way too fast.

I personally think it's low blood pressure.

I arrived at a hotel where my friends had just dosed upward of 4 grams, 6 maybe. I was offered an 8th. An hour in & we were sloshing around this littered room like we were on a boat, next moment our friend E fell heavily into the T.V knocking it to the floor & causing the whole room to fall silent! One friend was very frightended, they contemplated an ambulance but he was breathing nicely & had a normal/ish pulse.

Not long after, perhaps resulting from panic, another friend slumped against a cupboard with a glazed look babbling about rhubarb & egypt! Nonsense basically. At this point i became concerned that we'd had a moldy toxic batch or somthing. However, thast was the worst of it me & another tripping friend mangaed to comfort the casualties!

In summary, i believe Blood Sugar, Blood Pressure, & general health are the factors in this.

oh gosh. thats happened to me before. I was so scared, Mid. trip I felt like i was blacking out and completely dissapearing from life. then everything was black for no longer then a minute and I woke up layin on the curb when i was inside on the couch 90 seconds ago.

was a small dose tho. only an 8th but i only weighed 100 lbs at the time.

What's this sound like? Seizure?

A few days ago, i tripped mushrooms. So we were getting right in the apartment, talking and doing all kinds of shit coming up. After a few hours, we decide to watch A Bugs Life on DVD. During the White Sheet on Clothesline scene, i lost consciousness (i think). For a while (i'm not sure how long, neither are my friends) I just shook around on the floor, sweating and shit. I wasn't aware of this until they told me after. All i remember is waking up seeing the ants walk around on screen, SOAKED in sweat and freezing/shivering.

What the hell happened?

ps I'm 25, 5'10" and weigh around 170lbs. I ate them (2g) on empty stomach.

Sounds like a seizure to me, that's not a normal tripping experience for 2 grams of shrooms. The shrooms most likely triggered that (it's a possibility that they didn't, but let's not kid ourselves here).

But I am no doctor, and neither are most of the people who post here, so be careful. I would get some real medical advice on this if I were you.
