☛ Official ☚ The Big & Dandy Scale / Balance Thread - Part 2.000±

I use my mg scale for weighing out grams and even eighths. It has a 20g capacity but the surface area for the weighing mechanism is too small to put more than a few grams of bud on it.

Your better off buying one decent scale that weighs in mg while buying a cheap scale for weighing anything over a few grams.

I need a scale to weigh out 2c-e with (so it needs to be hella accurate).

I also need a scale to weigh out mushrooms amounts and Ayahuasca vine amounts (in grams).

Any ideas?

Cheaper the better obviously as long as it's very accurate (especially for the 2c-e one)!

You're likely going to need 2 separate scales. Those capable of weighing 0.001g usually have small weighpans and a low maximum weight. You'll need a milligram scale for the 2C-E and a normal 0.1g scale for things measured in gram and tenths of a gram quantities.

not necessarily, there are some very accurate milligram scales that can weigh a decent amount, like up to 120g or 300g.

Yeah I figured I'd need two, but can anyone recommend some?

^that is the Acculab VIC-123 milligram scale. i highly recommend it. it is very expensive though, but it is what you need if you are gonna be weighing things like RCs.

So, I had a chance to test out the Tanita 1230 against various professional analytical scales earlier this year.

As it turns out, the Tanita is accurate within about +-1mg of the actual mass to the mg -- but only if you don't use the tare function and rather subtract to find your masses. For instance if the scale value was 16mg the actual value would be usually between 15-17mg. It was fairly consistent.

I NEVER use tare on any scale. I've never had a scale I trusted it on. It's best to take cumulative steps in the math and write it out, so you can reproduce the same measurements of mass in the same order to verify that the same figures show up at each stage.

I didn't realzie that about the tar function.

So using the tar function in effect makes your readings less accurate?

This is very very good information to have, thanks.

Also, I fully support the vic 123.
You can find it for a decent price online second hand if you look.

I bought mine off the shroomery, new in box, opened but not used at all for i think 200 if I remember correctly.

I got my Acculab VIC-123 a few months ago and have to say that it was a great, great buy. No more anxiety about dosing RCs...

has anyone else had problems with their vic-123?

My scale works properly and all.. but sometimes it behaves like a damn child.

If 20mgs is weighed out for example, the scale has a tendency, to give an accurate reading inititally, but then slowly it keeps adding weight..
21
22
23
etc. it just keeps going up.

Can anyone recommend a decent pair of 000.1 scales (mostly for weighing out aMT) available in the UK?

I would rather not order from Abroad and all the ones on Ebay seem to come from China or Hong Kong.

Is using my credit card to order these scales a bad idea?

My fucking 0.1 Scale just busted on me. Its a f'n Digiweigh and the problem is with the on/off button.. For a while I was able to press it hard and a bunch of times and it would eventually go on now it won't. Can I open this shit up and maybe solder a connection back or something? Or am I fucked?

Hey everyone...about to invest in a scale and I have ~$350 to spend. I have been reading up on the Tanitas and like what I hear.

Any other suggestions in my price range? Thanks in advance :)

edit: I should add that it's for weighing out RCs and such.
