System Of a Down
A lot of other stuff too
Damian Marley

Music i like to listen to while tripping is the same music i like to listen to sober.
Hearing my favorite bands while im triping lets me experience the music in a whole new way, making me appreciate the bands i love even more.

For the most part i listen to:

blind melon
beatles
phish
Jerry Garcia Band
Shpongle
sublime
benevento russo duo

Psy/Goa trance of all types...
as listed above, Shpongle is awesome.
Can't believe no one mentioned JUNO REACTOR.
Some other darker artists you might dig...
Naked Tourist
Scatterbrain
Psysex

I saw Naked Tourist live with a head full of acid last year. That was pretty intense, but after a while I felt like I couldn't shake off this trance I was going into from the rumbling. What was I doing? oh yeah, hopping around... wait, why am I hopping around? oh yes..

Pink Floyd
DJ Keoki Ego Trip ( I reccomend everyone listen to this when they are tripping, I would even be more than happy to send someone a copy of the CD to get it out there, it is soo fucking trippy its rediculous)
Infected Mushroom
DJ Harware

I still have not listened to Sphongle though, anyone want to send me some Sphongle :)

Im gonna see Roger Waters in May in Tampa, (SOOOOO excited)

Beatles
Bob Marley
Hendrix
Marcy Playground

I'm a huge fan of pink floyd when I'm sober but for whatever reason when I'm tripping I can't stand it. I used to have the whole 'I listen to whatever music I do when I'm sober' kind of mentality, but that's just not true for me. Maybe it's just because pink floyd is too dark, I like happy stuff while fucked up.

^fizza
I also saw them a while back while under 40mg 2CI.
Man I love how it's capable of throwing you into a trance like that... still desperately trying to catch your breath and you just can't stop moving. I remember I was out of shape at this party, on the 2nd night in without any sleep and that damn 2ci... I couldn't STOP MOVING... even when it hurt, I -HAD- to keep going.
Seriously, you've got to listen to this stuff.
Scorb is also good...
or try Slackbaba for those of you don't like it so hard, I've really been digging it lately.
Also for all of you who mentioned psyambient you should give Entheogenic a whirl if you haven't heard them... great organic stuff.

I watched the Hendrix portion of the Monterey Pop Festival DVD while tripping the other day. Check out the commentary track, its great. Watching/listening him do Dylan's "Like a Rolling Stone" while peaking on DPT/Rue combo was interesting to say the least.

Floyd is definitely trippin' music and so are the Doors. But I've over listened to them..

Definitely a focus on bright melodies and intricate harmonies during trips; most recently:
Animal Collective (you must download “Leaf House”)
Panda Bear
Four Tet
Joanna Newsom
Neko Case
My Morning Jacket
Sufjan Stevens
Saul Williams (Amethyst Rock Star album)
Sigur Ros
Radiohead
The Beatles
Bob Dylan
Bright Eyes
The Decembrists
The Shins
Brian Wilson
Holopaw/Ugly Casanova
Friendlier Modest Mouse
Edward Artmiev (Russian Composer)
Nina Samone (ever since seeing Lynch’s Inland Empire on 4-AcO-DMT)

Got some Animal Collective ... thanks for the suggestion. If anyone hasn't heard Godspeed You Black Emperor, you're missing out. Please, everyone, do yourselves a favor and at least listen to the two songs/movements (whatever you want to call them), Gathering Storm and Moya. ;) You can get them at www.archive.org.

Godspeed You Black Emperor is great. A friend really into Sigur Ros introduced me to it. I don't know that its something I'd listen to tripping though. I'd leave it on if someone else played it, but not something I'd really choose.

I like a lot of psybient/psydub. Its so mellow, atmospheric, and smooth. Like floating on a cloud. I'll dig up some recommendations later... but if all you've heard is shpongle in that area... listen to more! There's a lot of stuff out there thats good that isn't made by Posford.

Also you guys into Shulman, check out Bluetech. You might really dig it.

one of the few "punk" bands I still like... but tripping? no thanks. Though I'd prefer it to "gangsta rap" any time.Thjat's some negative shit. In fact, whatever music gives me the creeps while straight doesn't do me much good when wired. Olivia Tremor Control... now there's good music :)

I dunno, seems to me this is a pointless thread. It's like asking the social question "what kind of music do you like?" ... ok, there's specific things I am more inclined to listen to when tripping and others less, but on the whole this thread is merely an enquiry into people's musical preferences.

I like to take the weirdest experimental albums off my shelf and check them out when tripping... often stuff I never really take the time to listen to when straight.

My music-while-tripping motto: "If I can't listen to it now, when can I..." ;)

I really like the intelectual aspect of Bad religion that is sadly lacking in most music now. I do drive my trip partners fucking insane with it though, but they drive me insane with radiohead and modest mouse. It always works itself out though. It seems to really be an aquired taste for intense altered states. I wont smoke 5-meo-dmt without it.

when im trippin, i love stepenwolf. also i love to sit down and smoke when im on shrooms and listen to reggae. i relax so much. and when im rolling i like some electronic drum and bass, and Deftones

TOOL is a big one...first time I ever heard TOOL I was on acid and heard Aenema all the way thru...It was the best music I ever heard in my life...

also:
NIN (especially Downward Spiral)
Portis Head
Bjork (right song at the right time)
Hendrix
The Doors
Sneaker Pimps
SUBLIME

Lots more

Recently I have been hooked on 12 step rebels for tripping music, especially with dxm in conjunction with a psychedelic. They have an awesome "creep factor" that no other psychobilly band can hold a candle to. Check out skinwalker (yes, its a story about the navajo legend) with incredible imagery. I really feel like I have lived the song after listening to it on almost a gram of dxm.
