I have to disagree totally on that one man.. Pink Floyd is IMHO some of the best psychadelic music on earth. It doesn't have to be electronic to be awesome on drugs :)

am with phoenix on that one.
Pink floyd is just simply amazing. no words can aptly describe how beautiful their music is on lsd. So many of my best trips have been spent listening to their albums.

much rather listen to them then like luke vibert or aphex.

Ketamine & music

Playlist for my first k trip, one hour of music, you get to submit one beautiful track, GO!

The album "Summer Make Good" by múm

Utterly perfect magickal shadowy thanatotic ketamine music...

Only appropriate for serious journeying however, not for playing around.

I find that steady, rhythmic music doesn't really work too well with K... off-beat, a-rhythmic, glitchy, stuttery sounds seems to be more to Her liking...

Awesome suggestions!
This World's End Girlfriend song is very cool.

I picked out 3 nice Aphex Twin songs off SAWII; Lichen, B+W Stripes, and Rhubarb.

All sounded really nice :3

I'm partial to Boards of Canada, Infected Mushroom, and Deadmau5.
Boards is especially good on acid, and the latter two are awesome on the fungus. In didn't like the Infected as much on acid because it was too hard and driving. Acid for me is much mellower than mushies. I think the Mau5 would be good on either because of his approach to music. Boards of Canada is probably one of the best overall artists/groups for the psychedelic experience, IMHO.

Non-electronic? I'd have to say that Tool, Team Sleep, and the Mars Volta would be good choices.

I have always wondered what it is about psychedelics that causes them to enhance music so much. Music tends to sound much more lush and full when on a good psychedelic.

Perhaps it is is some kind of increased short term perceptual memory in a sense that you can hold more and longer musical phrases in your mind and thus make more connections, causing it to feel that much more profound and engaging.

It seems to allow you to both feel it more on an emotional level and also be more aware of it's significance on an intellectual level.

I have had some really amazing experiences, particularly at Phish shows, in which my mind seems to absorb the music and develop an innate understanding of the musical(melodic/rhythmic) vocabularly being used.

I would walk out of the venue after a great show and the music would still be playing in my head, note for note. After sitting down in a quiet place and paying attention to it I slowly became aware that I could direct and control the music. I could improvise full arrangements with absolute perfection inside my head. Pure emotion being expressed effortlessly.

My brain would take the lead and would keep chugging it out and I could become as involved or as passive in creating/altering it as I would like. It just taps into the underlying essence and structure of music that exists inside all of our brains. The interplay between reason and pure emotional expression is just beautiful.

Sorry I am rambling a bit. Hopefully someone knows what I'm saying here. I tend to listen to a lot of Jazz and electronic nowadays and not so much jam bands but improvisation is still really my favorite aspect of music.

Infected mushroom's latest (legend of black shwarama) is worthy of mention here. I'd recommend it even for someone who doesn't normally like electronic music.

Really loved that album myself.

Take one look at yourself, and realize...
Life is treating you nice, better be wise...
And enjoy your moments.
Take one look at yourself, into your eyes...
How you treated your life, wasn't too wise...
Cause its getting closer...

^^^ i thought it was too much of a straight rock sound

for me though i've found their albums to be hit and miss. i enjoy classical mushroom, converting vegetarians, about half of vicious delicious, and a few songs off of b.p. empire and the gathering

i have yet to really listen to the newest album yet i just did some skimming of their songs then heavily got into listening to shpongle

Reading through this thread it's notable just how different people's experience of music is under different drugs.

In contrast to some of the above posts, I've never got much putting mushrooms with music, whereas LSD, though similar in other ways, just makes music absolutely glorious.

And music that I liked before my first drug experience don't necessarily sound that good to me when I'm high, even where that music itself had some psychedelic genesis - early Pink Floyd, Hendrix, Doors, all of which I quite like, just don't do a great deal on acid or MDMA.

My first proper euphonogenic experience was in a club coming up on MDMA just as 'I Feel Love' was being played - and for me ever since the sound of analog synths has been pretty special.
