The Big & Dandy Music on Dissociatives Thread

This Album, on 80mg of MXE. No words for it man. Just none at all.
Just lie down and try to remain as still as possible, don't move. You will Hole, if not because your tolerance is to high...
Then just try to remain as still as possible and just be destroyed by this amazing sound.

Well in my few experiences with dxm and K, music just didn't really reach me, I was too far in the hole to hear it right. It comes at me in blocks, like little spurts of music. Being a musician, its not all that appealing when you can't enjoy your favorite thing, which is why I prefer psychedelic drugs to dissociatives largely.

I will say that one time on K the album Green Naugahyde by primus kicked my dick off (in a good way). Some of the hard ass baselines in it really worked for me that night.

It turns out bwiti music is the PERFECT dissociative music there is. Play some bwiti music, grab your copilot add the 3-MeO-PCP, and amazing things might happen! =D I'd never done 3-MeO-PCP with anyone before, and I realize now that was the missing piece. Khole telepathy ain't got nothing on this...and the fact you are NOT immobile like on ketamine means those two dissociated bodies may react to that music and do incredible things to each other, or so I'm told.

IMO, dissociatives and industrial are intrinsically linked. However, in the past, I've enjoyed punk, alt/grunge, even conscious hip hop, though now it almost always Psybient, and bout 90% the time Shpongle.

Since y'all seem to love psydub/psybient/psyglitch etc. as much as I do Here is my pretty full list of favorite artists I've found through the years:
Adham shaihk, Aes Dana, Akasha Experience, Aligning Minds, Asonat, Androcell, Asa, Asura, Biosphere, Bird of Prey, Birds of Paradise, Beats Antique, Bluetech, Blue Phoenix, Boards of canada, Bonobo, Brujo's Bowl, Carbon based lifeforms, Cinematic Orchestra, cosmic replicant, desert dwellers, desolate, eastern sun, entheogenic, Hallucinogen (In Dub), Hibernation, Hinkstep, HUVA Network, International Observer, Ishq, Jairamji, Kaminanda, Kaya Project, Klātu, Kliment, Koan (not to be confused with Koan Sound also awesome but mostly not chill), Kuba, Kurbeats, Lauge & Baba Gnohm, Liquid stranger (album cryogenic encounters and renegade crusade), Living Light, Loess, Loscil, Makyo, Master Margherita, Mathias Fekjær, Nordlight, Orchid star, Ott, Peaking Goddess Collective, Puff Dragon, Quanta, Ruxpin, Ra Djan, Reflection, State Azure, Secede, Shen, Shigeto, Shulman, Shpongle, Sigil, Slackbaba, Solar Fields (hit or miss but Leaving Home is good), Soulacybin, Stumbleine, Sun in Aquarius, Sun:Monx, The Sight Below, The Human Experience, Tripswitch, Tycho, Yasume

I love to listen to Led Zeppelin Dazed and Confused Live from How The West Was Won, Or No Quarter Live From The Song Remains The Same. All live Zeppelin is really great on a DXM trip! Plus watching the shows. Everything is really cool looking and its just great!

I will say I am not sure I was aware DXM could inspire so much writing!

@Psychonautical

Strange, I've found The Glitch Mob to be infinitely less engaging during a MXE trip compared to being sober. I couldn't stand to listen for more than 10 seconds. Cold, distant, and lifeless would be the best descriptions for me. MXE completely sucks dry my enjoyment for certain types of music while invigorating others to the same extent. Speaking of which...

Massive Attack - Mezzanine https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WCwfUX58IZw

These three albums have been far and away the best I've listened to on MXE. Everyone, and I mean everyone, should give these a try. You'll thank me later ;)

There are only very few albums that actually "work" and can consistently bring an entirely new spin to the experience on large doses ketamine which is why I find most of the recommendations here inappropriate for such a state. No offense to anyone, I'm sure there is a lot of good music here, but some of it has been posted because the poster considers it good, whether he is on dissociatives or not.

Some are actually posting lists of artists and while it's great you are enjoying so many artists, this isn't helping anyone imho. I personally had to try hundreds of tracks until I found an album that actually worked. Everything else was CRAP and that's what a lot of posters here have said about their experience with music on ketamine. If you are trying to tell me ALL the music those artists made blow you away on dissociatives, then I dare say you've never really experienced that synergy to it's fullest.

Unlike on psychedelics, where even music you'd usually dislike sounds a lot better, it's a hit-or-miss thing for me and many others on dissos, so if it has never worked for you, I can only promise you it's not impossible, you just have got to find the right album. Once that happens, the whole drug experience will be turned upside down. You won't find that right album without recommendations, which is why it's a shame that this site is being spammed with recommendations that just won't work for 90% of users.

I sound like a twat, but I just think it's a shame that for every 10 artists/albums/songs posted here, people have probably listened to 1. Among the people I've known who have tried certain music there is a very large agreeement as to what works that is completely independent from sober music preference. I can't see that here, it seems more like many people are talking and nobody is really listening.

Imho you shouldn't post a recommendation here unless you know at least 3 people who consistently have their mind blown by the same music on dissociatives. Otherwise it's just highly subjective and thereby creating a lot of noise in this thread.

EDIT: That Glitch Mob album is pretty fucking good, but I'm sober lol.

Crook, I agree with you to an extent. Shpongle is a great example of music that seems to almost universally blow people's minds on dissos. Led Zeppelin on the other hand, rockin music but shouldn't be any more profound on ket than it sounds after drinking some alcohol.
However, while there may be some music that blows minds universally, there is also an element of personal preference, and we should encourage exploration with different music in these states so people can find what they really look for. Glitch Mob for example, blew one dude's mind, but I agree with another poster that said it is cold and distant sounding (the one exception is their song 'BETWEEN TWO POINTS' omg so good). So my point is that yeah we should focus on the really mind blowing stuff, but also give people a point of reference to explore the vastness as I did when I posted my huge list of psy-dub/psy-bient artists. I do love to hear all of those artists on dissos, but I know it won't hit everyone the same way.

Sixperfect albums for dissociatives:

Klaus Schulze- irrlicht
The Fun Years - Baby it's cold inside
William Basinski- disintegration tapes
Birchville Cat Motel - Beautiful Speck triumph
Dialing In - The Islamic Bomb
Windy and Carl- drawings of sound

Trust me. It doesn't get any better than these....

True story: I have never heard Sphongle. I guess the name gets tossed around so much that the contrarian in me resists....I'll try :)

DJ Koze - Amygdala

I personally am in the camp of people that dont really like Sphongle. dont get me wrong, i find it interesting music to listen to, but somewhat pretentious and over the top... a bit like a musical circus act aimed at drug users.... theres just too much going on and too many textures there, and not enough direction... the guy is obviously talented though, but i find his other incarnations a better listen

When I'm high I dont usually listen to music, but listening and watching this on high MXE was pure joy:
