Back when I was using dissos heavily, I got so accustomed to the headspace that it lost a lot of its strangeness. On the instances where I've revisited them over the past couple years I've slowly realized that they are inherently somewhat dark substances. I think that darkness was always there, I just got so used to it that it didn't really bother me.
But yeah I've definitely had a lot of high-dose experiences like you describe, that just leave you feeling like a part of you is missing. I think these experiences are quite helpful for coming to terms with the idea of death, but with the unfortunate side effect of losing a lot of the wonder for life.
