Heading to work today was hard, passing everyone on thier way to the gabba.

I'm the boss and I stupidly gave one of the boys the day off about 5 months ago to go to day 1....then I got offered a free ticket yesterday and had to turn it down as we had too much on!!!!

Gutted. Especially with all the action that happened!!!

I'm having a XXXX for the honourary QLD'er, Siddle right now!

Can't wait for the weekend so I can enjoy the next few days properly.

Oh, and there are hundreds of poms hanging around my local at the moment. The atmosphere is GREAT!

Roll on day two....

Holy fuck, what a day!!

3rd ball wicket. Hat trick!! and England all out for 250-ish.

Siddle has silenced any detractors who said he shouldn't be there. What a day!

I agree with the detractors who say that Bollinger shouldn't have been omitted. Absolutely not. He has been our best bowler for the last year. I think it is seriously time to Mitchell Johnson a spell. He just really isn't performing with the ball. His No. 8 batting is enough to keep him there if he keeps contributing, but seriously, he needs some bowling adjustments...

I hope that the quality and standards of the first day keep on going :)

Nothing magical about long hops smashed to the boundary for four. I was impressed by Dohourty, not so much his two wickets but more his economy. Hauritz could always be guaranteed to go for 5-6 an over with the odd wicket.

Agree Johnson is under the pump. With Watson getting runs Australia don't really need another all rounder but you need the top to fire. Ryan Harris is another bowling option who can flay the bat a bit but I imagine Bollinger will get first dibs next test if Johnson fails to take wickets.

I fucking love Brisbane during an Ashes test, the beer gardens are pumping from 10 o'clock until the last EPL game at night.

^ 100% agreed. Last time the ashes was held in the colonies I was up at the Gabba for the entire test. I feel in love with Brisbane all over again that year. I remember scouring through the real estate section of the Courier Mail looking to buy on the river somewhere. In hindsight that would have been a ripping investment.

My personal bullshit aside... I must say that finishing up on 260 is a very interesting place to be for England. It could really tip either way from that point. Australia will really need to spark it into life today (and hopefully) tomorrow.

So far today its not looking too bad. 32nd over and the Aussies are just short or the century with 1 wicket down. Based on Englands progress though we are peg for peg and just below if anything. We should be over 105 at this stage.

Ah fuck fuckedy fuck fuck fuck.

What happened to our bowling? Why oh why is Bollinger not in the team.

Seriously... how the fuck did we let Cook get a fucking double century!!???

Fail team is fail.
