Raptors in 6! I called it haha.

I wonder how much klay and kds injuries will hurt their free agency prospects
Fucking Nostradamus! I cant believe how it all went down! Warriors dynasty ended in front of our eyes

It makes next year much more exciting though right? Totally up in the air for the first time in a while.

oh for sure. I like Portland as a dark horse if they can stay healthy

Reports that KD will engage with 4 teams this summer:

Warriors
Clippers
Nets
Knicks

Looks like Lakers are interested in D'angelo Russell to fill up their last max spot. Reports that the Nets will set him free after they sign Irving.

Brooklyn and Irving approach 4 year deal

Butler to meet with Heat, Rockets
Jimmy Butler needs to stay in philly. They had success last year and was one game away from the finals. That team was also assembled in the middle of the year so they haven’t had much time to gel.

Well we will know tomorrow evening I guess. I read the Clippers want to pair him with Kawhi.

Which team do you support?

Brooklyn to sign Durant, Irving, and DeAndre Jordan

Free-agent All-NBA star Kevin Durant plans to sign a four-year, $164 million contract to play for the Brooklyn Nets, he confirmed Sunday.

Durant will join free agents Kyrie Irving and DeAndre Jordan, who also plan to sign with the franchise, league sources told ESPN.

It is a remarkable chain of events for a franchise that general manager Sean Marks and coach Kenny Atkinson found in disrepair less than four years ago.

Across town, the New York Knicks and owner Jim Dolan were not prepared to offer Durant a full max contract because of concerns over his recovery from the Achilles tendon injury that is likely to sideline him for all of next season, league sources told ESPN's Ramona Shelburne and Adrian Wojnarowski.

The players can officially sign their contracts starting Saturday. Irving will sign for four years and $141 million, sources said. Veteran guard Garrett Temple has also agreed to a two-year, $10 million deal with Brooklyn, agent Mark Bartelstein told ESPN.

After ESPN reported the planned deals, Caesars Sportsbook shortened the Nets' odds to win the 2019-20 title to 18-1 from 25-1 on Sunday afternoon, following some bets on Brooklyn placed at the company's New Jersey shops, a sportsbook manager said.

Pelicans land Redick for 2 years, $26.5M

Free-agent guard JJ Redick has agreed to a two-year, $26.5 million deal to join the New Orleans Pelicans, league sources told ESPN.

Redick joins a Pelicans roster that expects to compete for the playoffs despite the loss of Anthony Davis in a trade with the Los Angeles Lakers.

Redick leaves the 76ers after two seasons in Philadelphia.

Redick's ability to spread the floor with his 3-point shooting played an immense part in the Sixers turnaround for the past two years. Redick shot 39.7% on 3-pointers last season, which freed All-Star center Joel Embiid. His shooting became even more important for the Sixers once the team traded Robert Covington and Dario Saricto Minnesota for Jimmy Butler.

Redick averaged a career-high 18.1 points per game last season, including 63 starting assignments.

I'm personally not convinced of the KI/KD combo. An abundance of talent, obviously, but these are two very odd characters that don't handle adversity very well. I'll have to see the leadership, the structure, the team dynamic etc before I know anything.

Durant won't play next year and he won't be back in top championship form until maybe halfway through year after next. That's a lot of waiting, and he will be 33 by then.

DARK times ahead for Charlotte, I'm afraid. Kemba was that guy who put asses in seats for the Hornets , now he's gone. I'm not mad though, I'm glad he's going somewhere he can compete for a title.

76ers offer Simmons five year $170M deal.

As for Kawhi, rumors have been all over the place today. But as of right now, seems the momentum is with the Clippers.

Excited to see zions debut. Sucks he is stuck with the pelicans though

KAWHI LEONARD, PAUL GEORGE TO CLIPPERS

The LA Clippers are making a blockbuster trade for Oklahoma City Thunder forward Paul George, clearing the path for free agent Kawhi Leonard to sign with the Clippers on a four-year, $141 million contract, league sources told ESPN.

In an 11th-hour move to keep Leonard from partnering with LeBron James and Anthony Davis on the Los Angeles Lakers, the Clippers are trading four future unprotected first-round picks, a protected first-round pick and two pick swaps to the Thunder to get George, league sources told ESPN.

The Clippers are sending Oklahoma City their unprotected 2022, 2024 and 2026 picks, their unprotected 2021 and protected 2023 first-round picks via Miami, and the rights to swap picks with the Clippers in 2023 and 2025, league sources said.

The Clippers also are sending point guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Danilo Gallinari to the Thunder in the deal, league sources told ESPN.

George and Leonard wanted to play together, and George and his agent, Aaron Mintz, approached Thunder general manager Sam Presti in recent days and requested a trade, league sources said. Leonard wanted to walk into a championship contender, and he believed George was the co-star he wanted by his side.

George could miss the first few weeks of the season as he recovers from shoulder surgery, league sources told ESPN's Ramona Shelburne.

With Friday night's additions, Staples Center appears set to be the most starry arena in the NBA: Leonard and George vs. James and Davis.

Leonard had held meetings with three teams he planned to sit down with in free agency, according to sources. He met with the Clippers, Los Angeles Lakers and Toronto Raptors over the past week, with Toronto receiving the final meeting, league sources said.

Lakers sign Cousins, Rondo

The Los Angeles Lakers have agreed to a one-year deal with free agent center DeMarcus Cousins, and have brought back point guard Rajon Rondo on a two-year deal, sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski and Ramona Shelburne.

Agent, Jeff Schwartz of Excel Sports told ESPN Cousins' deal is worth $2.3 million.

The Miami Heat had interest in Cousins, but several Lakers players -- including Anthony Davis -- helped convince him to join the Lakers, league sources told ESPN.

Cousins surprised many by signing a one-year, $5.3 million deal with the Golden State Warriors last July amid his recovery from a torn left Achilles. He made his season debut for Golden State in January -- close to a year after having surgery on the Achilles -- and ended up playing 30 regular-season games, averaging 16.3 points and 8.2 rebounds.

He was at his best in April, averaging 20-11 and offering the Warriors a glimpse of what could be come playoff time. But in Game 2 of the team's first-round series against the LA Clippers, Cousins suffered a torn left quadriceps while chasing down a loose ball.

The injury initially was expected to keep Cousins out for the remainder of the playoffs, but he returned for the NBA Finals and, despite a limited role, was a factor in several games. He had an 11-point, 10-rebound, six-assist gem in Golden State's Game 2 win in Toronto.

Cousins said the significant injuries he has suffered recently had him contemplating whether he wanted to continue playing.

"I was just ready to quit," he told ESPN's Rachel Nichols. "Like, throw the towel in. ... Human nature is the first thing. It's like, 'Why? Why me? Why now? What did I do wrong? Why do I deserve this?' And that's not always the case. It's usually [that] it's repaying you for the next moment.

"This is you putting your armor on. Slowly but surely. Because your next moment's gonna be even tougher."

Cousins, who turns 29 in August, was an All-Star for four consecutive seasons prior to signing with the Warriors. The fifth overall pick in the 2010 draft, he spent his first six seasons with the Kings, then was shipped to the Pelicans in February 2017, and spent the remainder of that season and all of the next with New Orleans.

Among active players, he ranks 11th in points per game (21.25) and fifth in rebounds (10.9) for his career.

Rondo was one of several veteran free agents who signed a one-year deal with the Lakers after LeBron James landed in Los Angeles last summer.

Boku, were you surprised that the Sixers gave Simmons a max contract? I believe he has unbelievable potential but I also think it's fair to say he's underachieving thus far. How long will they wait for his jump shot to develop?

As far as the subject of this thread... I admire MANY athletes for their hard-work, passion, commitment etc...but I'm not sure any of my admiration has to do with their nationality. Is it strictly based on that? I'm just not that patriotic I guess.

No i wasn't surprised that the Sixers gave Simmons a max contract, he was rookie of the year and here in Melbourne AU the whole local sports media is talking up how good he is going in the NBA, most aussie bball commentators reckon Philly will win a championship in the next 2-3 seasons.

To be honest i am not an expert on basketball but from what i have heard on Melbourne talk back radio Ben Simmons more than compensates for his lack of jump shot with the rest of his game. Its just when Ben is good he is real good but when his game is off he is a shell of the player he has the ability of. Ben lets the crowd get to him or so i hear.

Simmons is young and he only has two full seasons under his belt so he is still getting used to playing at the elite level against professional men in front of vocal crowds in packed arenas with fans that can be merciless and intimidating to play in front of. given time he could learn to handle the pressure from the crowd as well as work on nailing a better jump shot
