Terrorist attack on London

Looks like there has been a co-ordinated attack on buses and the rail network in London. Massive explosions have occured all over the city. If there is one thing terrorists know its how to work the stage, with the games being awarded, Live 8 and G8 having occured. Looks like there are fatalities
 
We're watching BBC World News. So far, police believe that there have been 6 blasts. One was on a double decker bus and others have been at various stations around London's West End. :(

Incidentally, my friend's sister lives in London. She got a call from her about 15 minutes ago saying she was fine, but said that she made a spur of the moment decision to go to work 1/2 an hr early today...if she hadn't have, she would have been at Edgware Rd Station, where one of the explosions occured.

There's a thread on this in the European DD... it's such a tragedy.

Apparntly they have shut down the mobile networks to stop any remote explosions being let off...

What kind of people would do this????????
 
Tony Blair just spoke, seems to be relatively convinces of a terrorist attack.
I'm getting tired of hatred.
 
They were saying not long ago that it was a power surge, now it's a terrorist attack... I don't understand how they can come to this conclusion so fast without any evidence. Im not saying that it couldn't be an attack but what if it was a power surge that blew up??

They should get their facts straight before reporting!
 
IN OTHER DEVELOPMENTS:


POLICE have found indications of explosives at the scene of at least one the blasts.

A SENIOR Israeli official says Scotland Yard had told Israel minutes before explosions that it had received warnings of possible terror attacks.

THE European Union's commissioner for justice and security affairs said the blasts were terrorist attacks.

THE BBC has reported Arab sources linking the attacks the Al-Qaeda network

^ yeah i'm with anna --- i'm not one for maths but that doesn't seem to make a pattern to me :\

i thought 9/11 and bali bombings were the beginning of one....

yeah this is terrible stuff, and the apres olympics festivities provided the perfect foil i guess :(

i have friends over there and they're all safe and sound but i was scared to death for a few minutes until i heard from them :(
 
I'm so scared...two of my best friends are over there at the moment, one of them's been living there for the past few years...not to mention the random people I know backpacking etc...

I was watching BBC before, but it's doing my head in too much and honestly, gluing myself to the tv isn't going to teach me anymore than checking it every hour or so will, all it will is add to my stress.

Man, I really really hope the best for anybody in London or anyone who has loved ones in London.. :(

I also agree That WTC, and Bali bombings start a simple pattern.. but the rest have got me fucked....

I just think that This event Is just to do with Current Goings on in London...

As for the random Pattern's im sure it hasnt been overlooked..

Anyways.. poor old london town... and those tube stations what a horible place to be During that !

A report came in during SBS news that at least 50 people were dead, but BBC seems to be sticking to only two confirmed dead so far.

Sad news.

Also sad is that fact that anyone in a position to make changes to prevent further terrorist attacks of this nature seems to be spewing forth the same old rhetoric about defending ways of lives etc.

Blair and Downer particularly have said some stupid things. Looks like the old propaganda machine is starting to wind up again. Thank you specifically Downer because you are making me feel very safe to be living in this country at the moment. Quit making us a target jack off.

It seems likely due to the nature of the attacks that this was done by an islamic group but I don't like the way the news is virtually assuring that it is. There is no proof so far. It is an extreme possibility that this is related to the IRA.

Anyways, my empathy is extended to all those harmed or killed, and relatives and friends. I'm sure most of us in Aus. Social will have friends or relatives in London at the moment. Some of our family friends are there at the moment but due to them holidaying I doubt they would have been out and about at that time of the morning.

There's been a blast on a double decker bus as well... that combined with the distance between the explosions in the underground make it seem unlikely it's from a power surge.

I guess they were just being hopeful in the beginning :\ No-one wants to believe the worst.

Sad news :(

I've heard from my school friends who are over there and they are all ok. Has anyone got news from the aussie blers who are there at present?!?

Seems like the mobile services have been shut down and landlines are either congested or something. Have heard from PsychoKitten - they're ok.

dilated - the attack on the Australian embassy was 9/9/2004.

Blergh.
