The Girl in the Bikini
brigitte's first (edit: oops, second) feature film. though her looks and acting refine over the following few years, at 17 she is adorable and perfect for the part. must-see for any of her fans.
the movie is just a vehicle to show her off. but it frames her well. was better than i was expecting. she plays a cute little island girl. isolated. coveted but pure. jumping off rocks, tanning, and swimming around all day in her bikini. very male-fanstasy. but she never gets slapped. not the that i give the director too much credit for that, as she is way too soft and fragile looking to hit--even for 50s france.
biggest complaint is how long the movie takes to introduce her. once she is in it, she's the star. but that's half-way through the movie. as the film is nothing without her, this is a big negative. Doctor at Sea made the same mistake.
oh, and what really surprised me is that you get a glimpse of little brigitte's nipples. those few months make it feel so much more illicit.
edit: i guess the version i saw is missing 10 minutes. that's a lot, for a film that is only 86 minutes un-cut. fuck region-codes.
^or maybe not. despite what imdb and amazon say, there is 86 minutes of movie on the DVD. internet is full of so much bullshit information.
