Tell us about the last film you watched, mate!

you know what im talking about?
the tall more talkative "dirty blond" ... that must be her.!
^that's her! something about jane is special and attention grabbing--a pleasant spike to the mind. beyond her absurd beauty. or as part of it.

Wild Strawberries is on my list. so is Annie Hall, but a little further down.

^ haha yesss

;-D

yes indeed - she definitely had no problem casually being a star.
Wild Strawberries is going to be, be, beee fucking good.

and oh wow, if you havent seen Annie Hall, and like Woody Allens work - im excited for you...

Conan-OBrien-Cant-Stop-2011-Movie-Poster.jpg

A documentary about Conan O'Brien's Legally Prohibited From Being Funny on Television tour, which took place between being let go by NBC and starting his new show on TBS. Alot of big names were involved, Jack White, Eddie Vedder, Colbert and Jim Carrey all stop by.

Dancer in the Dark

mmm, i did not like this. and i really wanted too. the story was cry-porn. the camera was killing me. some conventions should not be broken, like good looking film and a smooth moving camera. why would you want your movie to look like it was shot by a dad with something bought on sale at BestBuy? especially if you are gonna have it set decades ago in a quiet town.

was sad though. and it was interesting to see Catherine Deneuve in a modern film. speaking english.

Kristen Scott Thomas was great in this, very good show IMO.

Birdie Always liked this film.

Hamlet 2 Very funny but terrible toward the end.

Good Will Hunting - Meh. Thought it was a sappy melodrama.

The Deer Hunter - This on the other hand, is an amazing piece of cinema.

i liked that
;-)

havent seen it in a while but i did like it.

and it was filmed right up the road from me...to give you an idea of what its like out here in my dwelling, and as far as i can see... haha
Edit:
never-mind that, i dont live in sweden....
-------

Wild Strawberries
is damn good - i only watched so much of it last night(57- minutes), but every actor is perfect, every scene is too. Sara, shes awesome! so im guessing shes a goner somehow - "Sara" sure looks a lot like Scarlet Johanson...nothing has even happened yet but this must be a favorite, easily one of the best movies ive seen.

including ALAPHAVILLE of course.

Edit:
what can i say, i would loved to of seen the look on my face when Wild Strawberries ended...
;-p

just finished the commentary off the Criterion DVD, i dont normally like to do this, but it was needed..! ill be seeking The Virgin Spring this coming week.

the-company-men-2010-bluray-rip.jpg

THe company men, which I thought was a load of non funny/interesting bollocks.

halfway into captain america and... no not doing it for me, i thought it was going to be like the captain america i knew when playin marvil vs capcom on the arcade machine box.

Umm watched the new last potter lol, well THE END!
tinychat is enough entertainment for me atm ;)

glad you were so happy with Wild Strawberries, panic. you've got me all excited to see it.

i watched Biutiful last night.

i cannot get over the obvious mirroring of Loves of a Blonde in the first two scenes. google only has one other person mentioning it, and that person does not go any further than mentioning it. i did not see any other connection between the two movies. it's weird.

The Girl in the Bikini

brigitte's first (edit: oops, second) feature film. though her looks and acting refine over the following few years, at 17 she is adorable and perfect for the part. must-see for any of her fans.

the movie is just a vehicle to show her off. but it frames her well. was better than i was expecting. she plays a cute little island girl. isolated. coveted but pure. jumping off rocks, tanning, and swimming around all day in her bikini. very male-fanstasy. but she never gets slapped. not the that i give the director too much credit for that, as she is way too soft and fragile looking to hit--even for 50s france.

biggest complaint is how long the movie takes to introduce her. once she is in it, she's the star. but that's half-way through the movie. as the film is nothing without her, this is a big negative. Doctor at Sea made the same mistake.

oh, and what really surprised me is that you get a glimpse of little brigitte's nipples. those few months make it feel so much more illicit.

edit: i guess the version i saw is missing 10 minutes. that's a lot, for a film that is only 86 minutes un-cut. fuck region-codes.

^or maybe not. despite what imdb and amazon say, there is 86 minutes of movie on the DVD. internet is full of so much bullshit information.

Toy Story 3

Have only seen the first one, but even without seeing the second, this one was very well done. Even had me in tears in a couple spots towards the end--Though that isn't very hard with Disney movies. :p

honestly, i keep wanting to watch it again - and have been avoiding the other films.

Annie Hall does pantomime Strawberries actually at times, as i see many of Allens films do - Crimes and Misdemeanors for instance recreates the same scene as Annie Hall does from Strawberries, and the passing discussion of sin, and how those who speak of sin should be avoided in the first place - im referring to the dinner table scenes in all three. Sorrow and the Pity is mentioned(in theory) and shown at times in Annie Hall, but Wild Strawberries, and probably several others, is a seeming platform for Allen in these.

Realy interesting little norwegian film. I quite enjoyed it. Silly at times but a quite a cool theme and great animation given the low budget. Made me absolutely 100% want to visit Norway in my lifetime.

Unapologetically cheesy and over-the-top action flick but without that sense of irony found in say Iron Man. Perfect comic-book conversion I guess. It reminded me a lot of the old Indianna Jones movies.

I'd give both of the above 3.5/5. They were both entertaining, engaging, with a few laugh out aloud moments, but not masterpieces. :)

Watched this a couple of weeks back, i love this style of animation and dark fantasy.. if you enjoyed The Nightmare Before Christmas, you might enjoy this.. it's by the same director, Henry Selick.

Coraline 4/5

Well I'm back from the dead again!

Night Watch
Ugh, I wanted to like this one, but it was too disjointed for me. I was expecting to see some cool supernatural stuff, instead I got a wishy-washy vampire movie. The main character was not interesting at all, and neither were the villains.

Baader_Meinhof_Final325.jpg

A pretty interesting German film about the early years of the German Red Army Faction.

3/5

mac_gruber.jpg

Loved it. I had watched "Your Highness" before it, and I was in the middle of lamenting the shittyness of modern comedies, but MacGruber showed me that it was possible to be funny in this new decade.

^ Haha i loved this movie! I wasn't really sure what to expect.. i actually didn't realize Hesher was Joseph Gordon-Levitt until 10 minutes into the film, totally spun me out watching the difference in his acting from his character in Inception to Hesher..
