one of the lines in the grinch song is that he has garlic in his soul. for some reason, this is supposed to be a BAD thing.

if you don't have garlic in your soul, i implore you to never speak to me, because i don't want to know you. not one bit.

Hehehe I like that one.
Lucky for us, my partner and I are garlic fiends.
But even though I love it, I don't agree with the haggard after-breath which lingers around my work mates some mornings..

I've always found that tomatoes and tomato paste help with garlic breath. Especially with my extra, extra garlic-y pastas. The pasta is also a perfect cold/flu war ammunition.

Only problem is it's so delicious I end up eating an 8 serving pasta all to myself *hordes*

So I have a sort of etiquette question for my dark siders-

My cousin is the "man of honour" in his friends wedding. So of course, just like a maid of honour, he has to throw the obligatory bridal shower. I'm helping him with it. We're kind of lost on ideas but were thinking a luncheon at a restaraunt. Now if we do that, is it rude to make the guests pay for their own food, or are we going to have to shell out a ton of money?

It is traditional for the host to pay. I wouldn't be offended paying a per head entry fee like a do for any other party/rave; although some may be. Fuck em.

That's what we were thinking too..there's 50 people going so he still needs to do invitations, reservations, blah blah blah. We don't want all those people at our house because its not like we're super close with them all so we think a restaraunt would be te best option. Weddings are SO damn expensive! Reason #6738 why ill never have one (besides the fact that I doubt ill find a husband lol).

I hear you. I'm all for love, but in my opinion marriage is an outdated tradition that will never have any place in my life.

If I tell my girl I love her while we are alone laying together as one, I think that is infinitely more powerful then swearing my allegiance to her in the name of the Abrahamic God which I have no belief in front of some random priest.

To each their own though. I want everyone to be happy; and to some people a fairytale wedding is a prerequisite to happiness.

so i really want to see les mis but i dont think my bf would like it.... guess i will wait till i see my parents so i dont have to go alone!

No it's not rude. Many people understand that there is a ton of money being thrown into weddings. For both my brothers weddings the best men threw the bucks party at a public venue and only the groom didn't have to pay. They informed everyone well before hand and also had a small drinking session at their places afterwards for the friends that were in the closer circle to the groom (eg no cousins or friends who only appear at weddings/important things) which was catered for.

Drag him out! Honestly I hated musicals with a passion, but seeing Les Mis for the first time kindled an interest in them again.... then I started in theater a few months later.

^ This. The groom pays for nothing at the stag, of course; everyone else pays. Free ride for guests is at the wedding, and even then only because they're giving gifts.
