So if something interacts with the mu opioid receptor then it interacts with ALL opioid receptors?
No. Buprenorphine just happens to interact with all of them (not every single last receptor, but mu, delta, kappa, and other receptors).
Most opiates only interact on the mu-opioid receptor, and have negligible if not inexistent affinities for the other opioid receptors. There are obvious exceptions, like methadone (also works as an NMDA antagonist), and nalbuphine, and tramadol.
