Bupe Suboxone/Buprenorphine FAQ & Megathread v3; 2010 - 2022

I was told about suboxone and saw it as a miracle pill... I thought it would free me from my obsession... it can be very useful drug... I'm never in withdrawal.. but I still use.. and I do get high... I often think "oh great now I have two dependencies".... Is there anyone else out there who has experienced this (started taking suboxone, anticipating a life without opiates.. only to start using after a few weeks of clean time --or less-- for whatever reason..) Sure.. I'm functioning now.. I don't have to go through the ups and downs of getting high and dealing with WDs (no access to drugs.. no money.. etc)... but I suppose I'm not functioning.. I'm riding this perpetual roller-coaster of emotions.. I'm juggling uni... my addiction...other life stuff... it's hard

please tell me I'm not the only one going through this (I do realize that people do (mix subs and opiates), I've read about it on this very forum... but my situation is different.. I WANT to stop.. I am not doing this recreationally.. I hope I'm making sense) I met a 72 year old successful professional that makes a once a year Dr. appointment for this very reason.

thanks guys.. don't know what I'd do without all of you... <3

If you are strong and can operate on freewill 0.5- 1 mg. of Buprenorphine (Subutex) used on occasion can be a very usefull tool for pain & as a mood elevator (not for use everyday) but you must be strong & find a doctor that understands
that this is what you need for "pain" instead of full on agonist opiate/opioid meds'

Been on Suboxone for three month's now and it has changed my life around BIG time . I was using up to 6 K4's a day for a long time then starting looking for help and ran across Sub's on the net . So I found a local Dr and life has been great . I am reading this thread now (on page 6) and mite take me awhile to read it all but have a quick question that mite already be in this thread but just have not found it yet . I have Hep C and I heard that I should not take Sub with a bad liver . Can someone shed some lite on this . Taking 8mg/2mg two time's a day now . Sorry it this has already been answered already but need a answer asap on what to do now . I do not want to go back to my old way of life . Life is good to me now but my liver has been hurting a little and has me worried a little .

i found this training article concerning suboxone and liver hepatoxicity:

Recommendations:
Level of evidence: Low - observational studies
1) Obtain liver tests including transaminases, bilirubin, prothrombin timellNR, and albumin
prior to initiating bup/nx treatment.
2) Obtain Hepatitis Band C panels prior to initiating bup/nx in patients whose serostatus is
unknown and who have risk factors for these viral infections.
3) Periodically monitor liver tests during bup/nx treatment. There is no empirical evidence
currently to guide the frequency of monitoring. Therefore, the frequency of monitoring may
be determined by physician discretion.
4) Inform patients to contact physician immediately if they develop symptoms or signs of
hepatotoxicity such as fever, malaise, nausea, vomiting, abdominal distress, dark urine, clay
colored stools, or icterus.
5) If a patient does have clinical and/or laboratory evidence of hepatotoxicity (e.g.
transaminases >5X upper limit of normal, abnormal bilirubin or abnormal prothrombin time)
• All possible causes of liver injury should be evaluated.
• Strong consideration should be given to consulting a gastroenterologist or hepatologist.
• Consideration should be given to lowering the dose of bup/nx or discontinuing bup/nx .
• The patient should be followed with serial clinical and laboratory monitoring until
evidence of hepatic injury resolves.
6) It is recognized that in certain clinical situations

Suboxon is hard on the liver? I have seurosis of the liver already could this be making it worse? Also if you snort subox and your on a 16mg dose already and you use this method to clean the filers out and get strait bupe do you still have to be careful? 16mg is the max dosage anyways right? I would love to get the fillers out and I don't take the full dose anymore im just wondering if it would be dangerous to use it if I have been on it for along time. To use pure bupe.
Also I know I can take vic and stuff on subox but can I use ox and stuff? I don't get it I thought the suboxon clings to your receptors and won't let other opiates get past? Sorry for the spelling im on a weird laptop hard to use the mouse or spell or type so just posting this with out spell checking my fingers hurt to much from trying. Sorry for spelling.

I have been on suboxon for 7months nothing else but im feeling my walls crumble. I have real pain problems from gastric bypass. My intestate and stomach were cut out (most) I have a small stomach and my D.S part of my intstance are gone. I hate dealing with the pain I have managed this long but its breaking me making me want to do drugs again. Could I get something for break through pain? *sigh*

Yes, you can & should ! Buprenorphine is not good for pain management of your condition. Tell your Dr. you feel you need a stronger opiate w/o a ton of tylenol in it...If he looks/acts uncomforatable about it, have your homework discussion ready from official websites on your condition & the stronger meds' prescribed to take you lower than a 8-9
on a 1-10 pain scale. A good Dr. will work with you if you do legitimate (homework).

I have seurosis too but my liver never hert until I started the sub treatment . I have had Hep C a very long time . Back in the late 80's but it would look like the suboxone would be better on the system than firing (cold shake) the K4's . I was not going to stay on the sub's that long but they are working so well for me I hate to even think I would have to quit them . Thank's for the forum and the help and sorry that I am not the best speller or writer . On page 11 now .

Check the link dcraver posted a few posts up... it is about the best info you can expect to find regarding bupe/ naloxone and the liver.

so basically naloxone doesn't dissolve in rubbing alchohol? I'm surprised that that is all there is to it

I'm surprised too..

for anyone who knows..I'm assuming there's no difference between "rubbing" and 91% Isopropyl alcohol. Why not just dissolve the pill in the alcohol first and then strain it. I did a [probably] sloppy trial and the alcohol did not break down a 2mg orange tablet... unless you're suppose to crush first which wasn't in the method.... or it was assumed that would be part of it?? Why the pyrex dish if a fan works to make it ready?? I'm rather certain I'm naloxone sensitive and would like to try...

Thanx guys for sharing the extraction method as sharing is indeed, caring. I would have gone and done it straight away of course if i wasn't
on my last few days after 13.5 months of Bupes. I can never forget those Naloxone headaches and how they made me hate everything
since i hated my daily dose, imagine that! Blaaa.

No Lolita, you're not the only one and it takes time to will and decide to quit all together. Just a simple notion to remember
when doing so; You got on the Subs in the 1st place so you can beat your problem with your D.O.C (Drug Of Choice). Yes, you're not
scoring and spending your money on dealers, but a potent substance as Bupe, even with being a partial agonist, is of course addictive.
Exchanging a dependency with another is not your long term goal, i believe.

Blocking the effects of other opiates for as long as 48 hours sometimes is also something worth thinking about, you don't want to waste
your money AND your high. Bupes wont really get you high if you're used to full agonists, especially after some time.

I'm trying here to show you both sides of the coin, since this dilemma has been discussed over and over and the final decision will always be
yours and yours alone. Personally, after consuming 2 bottles x 30 pills (Subutex once and Suboxone once) while still using Heroin, because
honestly, the high cannot be compared especially after years of usage, i still had to finally relocate to get clean.

Subs are not the problem solving pill that will fully heal you once you take it, no, it's a great invention that will help you beat your dependency
in a natural and more human way. Along with habits-changing, sports, a healthy diet and a positive outlook towards life, maybe even relocation if you
really need to, you will get there. Bupes did save my life in a way, but only because I have decided so. When you wake up one morning, looking back
at your life and say, i really want to feel better, you will know how to use the subs.

Good luck and share with us your progress, maybe even pass by The Progress Thread for a broader view on the whole thing.

I have been seriously considering relocation... however, I have found a meeting that could really work for me.. it's called smart recovery and isn't based on a higher power, it is mostly based on strategies.. decision making, etc.. I haven't used and it's been two days, I'm up to 8mg and feel great... but I still fantasize about using... right now, I'm just looking for distractions.. until I have a better of why I use.. so anyway.. probably will go up to 16 mg.. dr. went to a convention in Chicago and a very experienced doctor explained to him that doses higher than 8mg are conducive to sobriety.. and it helps depression.. ill wait and see..

Good luck lolitaofott , It's been a hard road for me fantasizing about using too and it's been 3 month's . But as long as I'm not dope sick I'm happy .

For a safer & easier method you can pour the (shotglass) into a pyrex baking dish, direct a small fan onto it, a few hours
will give ya' powder...Not dissin'

since you know of what this is about or are an "expert on this too... Why would a fan do the same as what heating does? And why not just skip the shot glass.... and filter directly into the pyrex dish. Why would pyrex be important to the process if heating isn't involved? I pm you with no response so i'm hoping you know of what you speak??? I got some good responses from xburtonchic but since you claim knowledge on the subject, I'd like to respectfully request a 2nd opinion...

^I know nothing about this particular process so I can't vouch for the accuracy of the process, but the fan/ heat relation is that they both speed up evaporation. The pyrex dish is likely just so that the liquid is spread out in a thin layer where there is more surface area, rather than using a dish that has less surface area. This is again likely done to speed up evaporation.

Uhhhhhhh....mkay

so I've gotten myself comfortable at 3 mg/day through SL administration. I decided that I really don't want to go on with the I.V ROA because it's a bit of a trigger for me (fixking several times a day, makes me kind of just want to shoot some full agonists), Plus I actually like the SL more now anyway. This is my fourth day going from 4 mg down to 3 mg, which I am very proud of, that 72 hour mark seems critical. My plan is to continue to taper down a bit more. I'm going to stay on the three mg/day and then I was thinking on monday of going down to 2.5 mg (1 mg in the morning , 1.5 at night). I think I'll try and stay on that for a few days and then go down to 2 mg. Is this taking it too fast? I want to eventually get down to under a mg a day, or to a point where I can skip days between doses, and then step off and use the suboxone whenever I feel the need to if I feel as if I'm going to pick up (that way I can get a buzz still, but i don't have to risk illegal activity to aquire drugs.)

Also at 3 mg a day, would opioid receptors still be completely saturated? I tried to calculate the math, and due to the half life I figured something like 6 mg would be in your system if continually taking 3 mg, which would still be either at the cieling limit or to close to really catch a buzz if I wanted to take more suboxone everyonce in a while staying on maintenance if my taper doesn't work out. Does anyone have any knowledge of any of this?? And yes I accept that it's not exactly what maintenance is meant for but I'm having a real hard time as it is staying clean, though I have gone 59 days now without the use of any narcotics or stimulants!

Thanks pegasus... that helps. Always good to hear from and get info from people whose been at BL and seen most of what's has been posted in this category for quite some time. I want to publicly thank xburtonchic too who was very helpful from direct experience in the matter. Always nice to get detailed and specific answers to inquiries.

I was just wondering something. Ive been addicted to Roxy 30's for almost five years with no prescription. Im tired of the roller coaster, being sick and being broke. I scheduled an appointment for this monday for suboxone. My friend helped me out and gave me one yesterday (friday) to help get me thru the weekend. It helped, but im pretty sure ill be sick by the time of the Dr visit. from what I understand U need to be sick to get the script anyway.

What I want to know though, if he (the Dr) knows I already have a small amount of Suboxone in me, will that be an issue? Also I had smoked some weed earlier in the week to help with withdrawals. Im hoping if im honest with the Dr he will give me the treatment.
