Bupe Suboxone/Buprenorphine FAQ & Megathread v2; 2010

yea, you are most definitely not the first person to try it. they give it to you IM in hospitals sometimes(allthough usually IV)...atleast thats what my doctor told me.

I would be worried about getting infections, abscesses, etc...

Well, I would mainly be concerned with having a sore ass, cuz thats where i would IM it....my legs arent fatty enough.

Hahaha, I have used my triceps and thighs before. I would probably primarily IM in the upper thigh.

Also, I never really got "sore" from IMing unless I used more than 10 units of water at a time.
 
^^^ I vastly prefer I.M. buprenorphine, always did buprenex this way as it doesnt have the spacey semi-dysphoria of I.V. use. I recently did I.M. generic subutex (micron filtered) for a few days. And while it still met all my needs, I dont think I will continue to do such. It is much smoother and warm than I.V., but it still has the GREATLY reduced duration that I.V. does. I was in fact quite suprised that I still had to administer it every few hours, and it didnt seem to last much longer than I.V. Having such peaks and troughs, the focus on the needle, and always feeling the dose wear off ( and waiting to re-administer) completely goes against the desired aims of Opioid Replacement Therapy, and having been thru agonist therapy MANY a time I quickly realized I wasnt making much progress:\

btw, the bioavailability of I.M. buprenorphine is reported to be around 70%, and this is exactly what it felt like. Duration maybe 20-30% longer than I.V.

Ah...thats right, I keep forgetting, you only inject like 26mcg's...tiny amounts. You can easily get by with only 10 units of water.

Even when I was only injecting 0.2-0.5mg's I would still use 70-90 units just cuz I have always liked using more water. Sometimes because it made the solution less "dense' and seemed safer to inject, sometimes because it made the solution more clear(when shooting heroin) so i could easier tell when I registered...its hard to see a plume of blood through a wall of dark brown.

Anywa, my point is that I like to use alot of water every time I inject something....it just feels safer in general to me. Do you have any thoughts on that?

thats very interesting. I have never felt like IVing suboxone had "peaks and troughs". I never really even felt my dose wear off ever. I just simply re-dosed a few hour later and got another nice little rush, and then did it again a few hours later until I wen to bed. Then I would wake up and do it all over again.
Sometimes I would just not dose at all for days or weeks, and then dose again and get the nice little high, and then do it again a few hours later. I truly find it fascinating that you have such a different experience than I did. I find it odd that you actually had noticeable times when you felt your dose wearing off, I have never experienced that really. What dose were you taking?

I know. I wish I could go days without. I really do. But, Subutex for me, is sheer hell. It wears off literally every morning, and every morning I go thru withdrawal. It never used to be like this on higher doses like 8mg. But, now I'm down to 3.6mg, it is really hard going.

I just want to be clean again. And never use heroin at all in my life.

Halloween tomo, so ill dose 2mg again, so i can be comfy going out with the gf.......

and ill start 1mg doses just a day late.............

why do you think starting your 1mg dose will make you not comfy?

I think it would make you more "comfy".
 
im already not feeling so hot.......

and im sleeping with her, just need to feel perfect......

going out to a club aswell, maybe being silly......but better safe than sorry.......

ha nice.....im gonna be House from the hit tv show cuz of the cane I have to use to get around now. Unfortunately im not gonna leave the safety of my living room floor because of the excrusciating pain, but im still House dammit!. I guess ill just sit here and call people and make ssarcastic, witty remarks all night.....sad.

I would say your experience is atypical to say the least. Strange. If I were taking buprenorphine i.v. (usually about .5 - 1 mg) I would feel it wear off within 2-3 hours, and usually quite dramatically. If my daily dose is below 2 mg by any ROA I feel fairly dramatic withdrawal upon waking. From my experience this is pretty damn commonplace. Lucky you:D

Damn, speaking of luck. Today was my unlucky day. First, my disabled persons bus pass has expired, so I had to spend £3.20 (my drink money) on a bus ticket. Then, the pharmacy only supplies me with 3.2mg. They've gone ahead and reduced me down on the day I see my drug worker.

What should I do? It's gonna be real hard getting onto this 3.2mg dose from 3.6mg. Because, I was taking on Friday, 4mg, then on Sat, 3.6mg, then on Sun, 3.2mg/ So I really dunno what to do.

Maybe I'll see how it goes I guess. And tell the drug worker to see me in two weeks time.
