Bupe Suboxone/Buprenorphine FAQ & Megathread v2; 2010

it varies by individual from what i can tell. generally i snort. coming off 160+mg/day this last time, i only needed to snort about 1 mg the first day, maybe .5-1 the next day, then i skipped a day, did .5 yesterday, and here i am at almost 6pm today, having done nothing at all yet. so for me, snorting lasts fine. other people like to split their doses up smaller so they can do it multiple times throughout the day, and others simply require larger amounts, depending on their original habits and how long they have been taking bupe at what mg. it's supposed to not last as long when snorted, but i haven't really had any problems.

in my opinion snorting your bupe lasts just as long as sublingual. It may not last as long, but BOTH ROA's last sooo long that you wont be able to tell a difference. For example.....lets say that for you SL lasts like 18hr's(even though we know it lasts much longer than that cuz of the half life, but im saying 18hrs as the amount of time you actually noticeably "feel" the effects)......then you snort it instead and it only lasts you 16hr's........your not really gonna be able to tell much of a difference in that scenario in my opinion. Allthough, I still think it lasts just as long as SL anyway. Also....why does it matter if you dose twice? I am actually prescribed 12 mg's of suboxone......8mg in morning, 4 mg's at night. No problem there. (Allthough we all know I dont take those doses like that). I actually dose a few times throughout the day and thats the most euphoric way to do it in my opinion.

Edit: Also....snorting DEFINITELY feels better than Sublingual.

if i took that little of sub, i would b so fucking ill..... dont even like to think about it:p

if im still at 4mg is there an advantage to snorting 4mg???

i know the BA is 50 percent, but the dose is to high to gain pleasure.... no?

ha, yeah, i read a lot about it in forums like these before i ever actually used it to either taper off or maintain off of full agonists, so i never started taking the massive doses or anything like that. a little bit really can go a long way if you're not accustomed to taking more first, and even then, because of the half-life, it should be relatively easy to drop from, say 8mg, to like 2 or so w/out really noticing too much discomfort. if you've been way up there for a while, it may be harder to get to lower doses than that, but if you switch from a full agonist to sub w/ the intent of using as little as possible, for whatever reason, you'd be surprised at how little u actually need---at least in some cases, mine for example. i've heard of people who think they aren't being held at like 16mgs, which seems nuts to me, but everyone's different

Yea, I HIGHLY reccommend NOT snorting your subs until you lower your dose to atleast 2 mg's. But honestly, I wouldnt do it until I was at 1.5mg's or less.

i'll second that. i know someone who just loves to snort stuff and will dust like 10 mgs a day. i think it brings out more of the side effects and is not so pleasant on the sinuses, etc. at larger amounts, and really, i think that person is using it compulsively the way he used to use oxy and gaining little to no pleasure and more side effects. that's an example of someone who should take as prescribed once a day bc it's just reinforcing old habits at this point and not allowing the person to move on past his druggie behavior as intended

god, i cant even imagine what its like to snort 10 mg's of suboxone a day. rudolph the orange nosed reindeer.

tell me about it. i was just doing the tail end of lines this dude was laying out over the course of the day, and i couldn't breathe through my nose at all the next day, and i definitely wasn't getting any positive effects beyond the fact that i could have probably gone a week w/out doing another opiate

why would u recommend waiting till lower dose (i agree) just curious... such large amounts of powder... or no real reason to because ur not taking a dose to feel euphoria from.

Both.

Too much powder....and no point because its not gonna make you feel any better.

1. large amounts of powder

2. the euphoria thing

3. if it really does have a higher ba snorting, it seems like u would hit the max dose for euphoria much sooner, so snorting that amount would be that much more pointless

4. the times i've snorted any more than a little bit, i've noticed some adverse effects in the nasal passageways and sinuses

5. i think it makes my friend feel worse the more he snorts past a certain point, which makes him want to snort more, and in turn complain about feeling worse, and the cycle continues...

there's probably more. unless you're doing it w/ a solution, you're definitely going to be wasting some by putting that much powder up there. also, if i left it out, it started to hurt when i did more, both at the time and the next day (this is independent of the inability to breathe i experienced the next day). plus, i really think snorting those larger doses does something--either w/ more antagonistic effects of the bupe or some sort of nasal buildup of naloxone (i know- not possible! but still...) that makes you feel bad.

huh.... i wonder, is there any other opiods like bupe and done..... that could b used for treatment

kratom is a partial agonist at the mu and delta-opiod receptors.

also....methadone is a full agonist, not a partial agonist.

i realized that after i pressed post, so i changed it instantly (already knew that). so only kratom? no other miracles?

There are probably hundreds of compounds that act as partial opiate agonists. Its just that most of them are more than likely not made by pharmaceutical companies and therefore have never been heard of by the general public. This is because most of them, after testing, were deemed not valuable enough to market and sell. There are probably more opiod compounds than you could even bother to remember if you tried.
Are you aware that opium, the raw material that oozes out of the opium poppy plant, contains dozens of opiate alkaloids, most of which you have never heard of because scientists realized there potential for use as medications were too low in comparison to the more famous alkaloids. The only alkaloids from opium that you are probably aware of are codeine and morphine.

As far as partial opiate agonists that are actually on the market....i really dont know. There may very well be, but I dont know about them because I havent bothered to do the research. Maybe CaptainHeroin would know. Or a quick google search might yield some answers.

*Also...your post still says methadone*

Goodday,
So I have developed these joint pains.
It is NOT withdrawal, not even the same sort of pain. The mornings are the most painfull - i need to 'work out' my fingers, arms, legs, feet etc.

Now I have been told by different people that the Naloxone in Suboxone can cause joint pain.
Anything that you have heard or someone maybe have had joint pain?
