Bupe Suboxone/Buprenorphine FAQ & Megathread v2; 2010

I was thinking at one point to switch to methadone to get off the codeine and Oxy's. But methadone WD is supposed to be very harsh and very lengthy. Not as harsh as heroin, but pretty damn close and much longer (for some as long as 4 to 5 weeks 8o ).

So I think I'll pass on the methadone :)

Actually, from what people tell me about methadone WD, I would rather go through heroin WD again than even start methadone.

Captain.H I just PM'd you. I'm, heading out the door for work here in about 15 minutes though...but to stay on topic, yeah definitely don't get sucked into methadone wrath, that WD is the longest of them all and more intense than buprenorphine.

Anyone who have dissolved 7,5mg Midazolam (Dormicum) benzo and mixed with Bupe?

I do not want to overdo thr Midazolam, my benso tolerance now is 20-40mg Valium + 1-4mg Xanax/day.

Should i only take half of thr 7,5mg Midazolam at first?

OK a pretty silly Q, cause ofc i will try the Midazolam alone at first but it would be fun to hear from other experiences.

7.5mg of midazolam is good enough for four shots for me, if I space them out.

Then again your benzo tolerance might be higher than mine. 1/2 of the pill might be good to start with.

There's more filler in Dormicum than Subutex/Suboxone, so you want to prep your Sub shot, then prep the Dormicum separate. Expect to get back 70 ish units out of 1 CC.

Welcome!

Hey everyone... I'm new here.

Unfortunately, I am going through suboxone withdrawal right now.

Just to give a little background (don't know if this belongs here), I have been using heroin IV since I was 17. Finally made the switch successfully from heroin to suboxone 6 months ago (I am now 21.. have been through so much). Now this is day 3 off of suboxone and I want to kill myself! Did I ween down too quickly? I never took more than 8 mg a day (well, there were times that I did in hopes of getting high) because I know that doctor's overprescribe suboxone. So I was on 8 a day for months, then 6 a day very briefly, then 4 a day for about a month to two months, then 2 a day for only about 2 weeks if I'm lucky, and now I'm off. This is the first time that I am reading anything on the internet about drugs in general, and this is the first time that I am hearing people weening down to 0.5 mg before they come off. I really want to use (obviously), I just don't want to end up where I was. I am really stuck. How long do you think my suboxone withdrawals will last? Any advice? Thanks a lot guys.

Welcome to Bluelight!

My advice to you: if you were on heroin for years, it might take years of maintenance to successfully quit.

I would go back on Suboxone, at 2mg per day (or 1mg per day) for a few months. See how you feel then; you may have less WD symptoms when you wake up in the mornings. If so, that means it's helping you out.

You may want to be on a low dose of Suboxone for a few months, if not a whole year, before switching to dosing every other day, and then jumping off.

It sounds like you have good aspirations to become opiate free, and that's great! Stick with it and you should get there one day. Good luck!

Ok, so I have been using 2mg Suboxone off and on for a week and a half to try and soften the blow of coming off a heavy opiate habit. First time i took some, like an idiot i smashed some trying to chase a high. I read about precipitated withdrawals but figured since my last dose was a 24mg (low for me) shot of Dilaudid that morning, I would be ok given its short duration. Well i got some nasty effects off of that, right to the toilet, sweaty/cold etc.. So I managed to down some diphenhydramine and sleep it off.

Next morning i tried it again and just was not getting withdrawal relief after 2mg sublingually, and smashing another 1mg. I went out and scored some Morphine and Dilaudid, and went to town for 3-4 days. So yesterday was the 2nd time i tried it... Woke up, did the alcohol solubility thing posted here in another thread, felt shitty still, Smashed another 1mg, got terrible side effects again off that shot. After about 1/2 hr i took another 1mg sublingually and within 20 mins i noticed my aches going away and my runny nose stopping and i was content for once. I railed another .5mg and was good to go for the entire day. Finally!

So.. I found the sweet spot as far as suboxone, 5mg, but obviously I'm not really ready to quit. I'm a hopeless fucking junkie at this point I'm not really mentally ready to quit. I love to get high. So today I wake up and didn't want to take my dose cause I wanted to somehow get high today. Well a buddy came through with a 30mg Hydromorph Contin. I have it in my paws but I'm wondering if I should do it or not. I'm not really sick so I think the sub may still be working.

My dose for the last few shots of Dilaudid have been 45-60mg. Sick I know, thats not even an exaggeration. Does suboxone work to lower your tolerance? Or does it raise your tolerance?

Sorry I guess this post comes off more as a blog entry then anything just wondering what suboxone does for tolerance and If there's light at the end of this hopeless tunnel.

I would save it for later; there's always a 'rainy day' ahead. Yeah, Suboxone does eventually work to lower your tolerance, but initially it may even raise it while you're adjusting to the Suboxone at a high dose initially before you taper.

Im wondering in thr US & UK subs prgrams do they check in any way that you actually are taking all of your doses?

so ive been wondering about dilaudid lately. ive never got to try any. i would prob have to do at least 40-50 mg in a shot. can u fit that many pills in one syringe? if so what size syringe?

I mentioned in a earlier post that i should get a hold of some Midazolam 7,5mg tablets.
Tried them with bupe yesterday and it vas a mellow nice experienc.
Midazolam is sadly pretty short lived. My highest injection was 4 x 7,5mg = 30mg

Did Several IVs, ans a warning the day after you can't walk straight for an hour.. hehe.

Short Term Buprenorphine use (Less than a month) What W/D's to expect?

Hey all. Got a quick question that I've already tried running a search for with no luck (can only find cases of ppl who have been on sub for a maintenance period of months or more). I went to a rehab center for 7 days to get off a year's time of using Methadone (went to a methadone clinic for a problem with oxy's, big mistake). Anyway I've been on subutex, starting at 16mg and had weaned down to 4mg before jumping off. I've been on Subutex for a little less than 3 weeks. I took my last dose of 4mg two days ago on Wednesday morning. What kind of W/D symptoms can I expect seeing how I haven't been on it for that long of a time period, yet more time than a rapid detox method (7-10 day detox).

Since yesterday I've been feeling edgy, yawning a lot, runny nose, minor insomnia, and some minor leg cramps. None of the real bad sweats or RLS and DEFINITELY nothing near as bad as oxy or methadone W/D. I've felt about the same today, maybe actually a bit better. Has the worst of the W/D just not hit me yet?

^Merged into the mega thread. Plenty of relevant info here, and also, tons of people check this thread regularly to help you out. This thread will never disappear whereas your one thread may have gotten lost quite easily...

You really should try to wean down past 4mg to get a relatively clean jump off. I jumped off from under 0.5mg/ day and it was still quite unpleasant. Since you weren't on for too long, it might not be that bad, but if you can get your hands on even a few more mg, I would save them for when you start to feel crappy and take the lowest dose that you can to alleviate the symptoms (probably like 0.6mg insuffulated would be plenty). This would allow for a much slower and more peaceful transition than coming off 4mg at once. 4mg bupe is really quite a lot...

I would still wanna know this..

My first sub dr used to test me for other drugs in my system and for the levels of suboxone in it also.. but my dr that i have now has never even drug tested me, never mind checking for the levels of sub in my system.. i think it depends on the dr.

While I do agree that 4mg is still a relatively high dose, I don't agree that you should continue to lower your dose, as it would just prolong your use. Those are the two factors that go into "how bad will my withdrawal be". Amount of use, and duration of use. Personally, I think how long you are on it is more of a factor than how many mg's you were on. IMO, stop now, and use the standard OTC meds to help you during whatever WD's you have, i.e. immodium, vitamins, etc. Obviously benzo's help, but not everyone has access to them. Good luck man.

Greatly appreciate the response.

I agree with both of you in that 4mg is definitely a relatively high dose, but my reason for wanting to jump off now is that I don't want to take it for too much longer and end up being on it for months, making the W/D process more difficult.

Is this accurate?

Yeah totally. If you look around at the other bupe threads, you can see all my posts. I tapered with one 8mg suboxone pill for 10 days, doing tiny amounts every day. After the 10 days, I stopped for 4 and felt no WD's. So last night I actually did a little for recreational purposes since I felt like I didn't do it long enough to get an addiction to it. I think Suboxone works best when used for short tapers/detox's and not for maintenance purposes. If you stop now, I'm sure your WD's will be manageable...3 weeks is right at that point though, where if you use for longer, it will hurt more when you stop.

How much you are taking is also a factor; if you are using < 1mg per day, the withdrawal will be less severe than taking many milligrams per day.

I wake up some days with nearly no withdrawal symptoms, other days I might only have yawning/runny eyes at best.

I've been on Suboxone for over a year and a half now, and the WD's are less intense than they used to be. :)

This is a trully heroic dose. What leads you to conclude that you would require that much dilaudid. What drug and how much does it take for you to get right? Thats assuming your still alive?
