Bupe Suboxone/Buprenorphine FAQ and Megathread v.1; 2007 - 2010

I hold the stuff under my tongue until it cannot be tasted in the saliva. Usually on the upper end of 15-25 minutes depending on how much of the drug I'm taking. 20ish minutes is plenty of time for 2-3mg

PS-Don't swallow any spit during that time, keep it all under your tongue. The more still you hold your mouth/tongue, the more steady your breathing, the less saliva you'll have to deal with. It was hard for me to get used to slowing the spit production, but with a little practice it's easy as pie.

That's really cool. I'd love to see whatever information you guys dug up on amoxicillin/clavilanate & suboxone interactions. PM'm if ya can.

unless i'm only putting like 1-2mg under my tongue it is gonna take at least 10 minutes for the thing to dissolve and for me to stop tasting it... so i'm not really sure what this thread is asking about...

i mean, the more ya put under your tongue, the longer it's gonna take to dissolve... do you mean swallow the remaining undissolved pill after a few minutes vs. letting it all dissolve over 10-20mins?

personally i keep it under my tongue 'til i can't taste it or feel it there anymore, and yeah i mean i've swallowed it before it was all dissolved before and the effects were a bit weaker... i'm still confused!

i've never really fooled with it that much but when i have took it it seems like after 10 minutes that it has completely dissolved and the taste is gone so i agree with you am i missing something? please shed some light on this for me thanks

Suboxone re-induction help

Alright, I've been looking all over the place for an answer to my problem so here goes: I was a heroin user off and on for about 8 years. 3 years ago I went on suboxone started with 40mgs/day and eventually going down to 24mgs/every other day.

Long story short, I ran into an old friend about 4 weeks ago (cliche, I know), stopped taking my suboxone, and starting shooting up again doing ~2 grams/day.

2 weeks ago I decided that I'd quit so I finished my last bit and then decided to go back on my subs. Sunday night at about 9pm was my last dose and took 24mg suboxone the next day around 10am. I believe this put my into precipitated withdrawal as I felt pretty awful. I kept taking suboxone that day totaling to about 80mg throughout the day. The next 2 days I continued taking 24-32mg suboxone and then couldn't take it anymore. Still felt like crap so I went back to using heroin.

Last week I tried again. I failed miserably, as I took my last dose on a Wednesday at midnight, then found some left over cotton balls on Thursday at 9pm, then, mistaking mild anxiety for mild withdrawal, took 24mg suboxone on Friday at 7am. This ruined me! I was again in precipitated withdrawal - this time MUCH worse than the previous week. This time however, I didn't take massive amounts of sub - I took 24mg on Saturday and 24mg more on Sunday. By Sunday, almost all the withdrawal symptoms had gone away except for really bad anxiety. I had to do a lot of things that day that required me to somewhat "normal" so I went back on heroin and have been back to ~2 grams a day. On a side note, the heroin I did on Sunday only took away the anxiety, but didn't get me high at all.

My Question: What's the best way to get back on suboxone? Should I start as if I was just being inducted for the first time? i.e. 4mg-8mg first day, 8mg+ next 2 days? Or should I go back to my usual dosage of 24mg/every other day once I reach a COWS score of 6+?

Any help is greatly appreciated!! Thanks!!

the ceiling dose for suboxone is 32mg, any higher and nothing really happens...
stop bouncing the heroin and subs around, it's not going to help any.
but start taking the subs at least 24 hours after your last dose of heroin and continue taking the subs daily. they should prevent any withdrawal from happening.. that's why when you go to a doctor for suboxone they want you in the beginning stages of withdrawal.

i hope that helps.. if you have any questions, lemme know.
be safe! <3

Heck yeah it does. Suboxone over 32 mg will start to create an antagonist effect, which is much like PAWS. I hear it sucks. :\

Hmmm...Well it looks like I'm alone on this one. I'm convinced it is the combo that's causing those flinches or twitches. As soon as I got off the antibiotic (after good results on my wound) those jerks have gone away. Its kinda scary that something as benign as antibiotics would cause this kind of dyskinesia. I just wonder what's really causing this. Do myoclonic jerks or this kind of dyskinesia (is that even the right word?) come from the electrical system in the brain? Although it was just a nuisance, I'm glad it stopped.

i've had twitches like that since i was first put on suboxone 3 years ago.. could that be a side effect and the anti-biotic just makes it worse?

bunk pills or tolerance?

I've been taking buprenorphine about 4mg per day or every other day for about 45 days. Today, after not taking any buprenorphine for 48 hrs, I insulfated 40mg of oxycontin. I have never take oxycontin before, and I have never tried these specific pills before. I have not take any opioids besides the bupe for the last 2 months. I did not feel anything from the pill.

Is it possible that my bupe use sky rocketed my tolerance in just 45 days? Oxycontin has always been this mystical drug for me, and now that I finally got some I'm a little disappointed that I felt nothing off 40mg. I'm even more worried that my tolerance could be that high. I felt NO WD symptoms over the 48 hrs since my last dose of bupe, but this worries me.

I thought bluelight would be the best place to ask this since people here seem very knowledgable. Has my tolerance risen to the point where 40mg insulfated does nothing? Or could these be bunk?

Another thing, basically, would be that buprenorphine is a very sticky substance which takes quite a long time to work its way out of your system. Without feeling any WD symptoms, I would have waited longer until dosing the oxycodone.

You also perhaps could have tapered from 4mg to 2mg to 1mg to 0.5mg over time, and then gone 48 hours, and it probably would have been different for you.

Taking 4mg every day will pull your tolerance up.
