Bupe Suboxone/Buprenorphine FAQ and Megathread v.1; 2007 - 2010

Ok I have a couple more questions and comments. It's been one year since I've quit injecting heroin. I had $100/day habit and suboxone was basically mandatory anytime I even THOUGHT about kicking. I just recently got back in touch with the addiction specialist who first prescribed me on suboxone. I told him I was dabbling back in with oxycontin and heroin. I didn't have a daily habit again and he put me on suboxone maintenance for a while (while going to AA and bupe group) Since I've started taking my suboxone (2mg 3/day) it seems amost the same to me as a 20mg OC. It's given me a lot more energy (even though some nights it's even kept me awake.) I'm not sure if this is too high of a dose for me (since I basically had no tolerance in me.) Although I do like the effects, bones don't ache, more energy (like I've stated) I still really don't want to feel "under the influence" or really feel like I'm on an opiate (even though I technically am or whatever.) Every day until I've recently gone back on suboxone I woud wake up with an aching body. It would suck waking up and feeling like shit.

I see my suboxone doc tomorrow and I'm wondering if these effects wil taper out as I continue my maintenance plan?

Sounds like you're getting a buzz off your Subs. It's possible, and a bunch of people(mostly in different countries) use bupe as a recreational drug. Take that dose long enough, and you'll become tolerant to those effects.

If your goal is to get off the subs as quickly as possible, I'd lower the dose to the bare minimum needed to hold off withdrawal.

How long do you think I'd have to take this dose to become tolerant to the effects? In the long wrong will suboxone still help with body aches and extremely low energy?

6mg per day would be a high dose for someone with no previous opiate tolerance. A non-tolerant person would more than likely throw up and get sick.

So, It's a good bet to say that you have some opiate tolerance to begin with.

But, for the sake of answering your question, using daily for a week or two would most likely cause dependence(with just about any opiate). What you used, how much you used, which roa, previous dependence etc will all factor into how severe the withdrawal will be.

What's causing the aches and the lethargy? They're two of the most common opiate withdrawal symptoms...

I'm not sure like I previously stated it's been a full year since I've injected heroin. I've used it here and there, but haven't got back into the addiction cycle. I also have hep c and have had that for 4 years

Not sure why you're taking it 3 times a day. IME, it's best to take your full dose once a day.

I'm not sure what you mean by habit. If you mean physical dependence, well, you're already dependent if you're on Sub maintenance. Opiate dependence being one of the prerequisites...

Yes, you'll go through withdrawal if you stop suddenly. It won't be as brutal as withdrawing from a full agonist, but you will have symptoms. You'll be fine if you employ a slow dragged out taper.

Good luck.

what are the benefits taking my dose once a day? Just curious.

Here's a question for the pros here: I'm stabilised on 8mg Suboxone but the doctor thinks i'm on 16mg (i've been palming them off..). Now, if take 32mg in one go (which I think is the ceiling dosage, right?) will I get any kind of opiate high?

It depends on the habit you had before getting on maintenance (dose/duration) and also varies a lot from person to person , how do you feel after taking your daily sub (like happy/speed gonzalez or just ok)

try going without yor meds till you are in withdrawals , then snort or plug 2-3 of those 8 mg pills , euphoric relief guarateed

i was wondering does anybody else have any experience with plugging subu-tex/oxone?

Its pretty unlikely that it will be worth it. Once you have been taking suboxone daily, its near impossible to get high off of any dose.

Cheers JC. I'll wait until i'm clean until I bother trying to get fucked up again.

Or just get clean and stay that way... no need to plan when you're going to slip back into opiate use.
Either way, you do what you do. Best of luck with the suboxone.

I have a couple more questions about suboxone. I started on monday 2mg's 3 times daily. Friday night I (very stupidly) went out and drank. I felt sick as HELL all saturday. Another stupid thing I did while I drank was take like 4 suboxone. Ever since I did this I haven't really noticed the energetic and content effects I had before I stupidly went out and drank. So my question is is it possible to ween myself down to almost nothing and then regain the positive energetic, content feeling? please any answers are appreciated.

Are you saying your not feeling the 'buzz' on suboxone? When you take it now do you feel any better than before? (physically,mentally,spiritually.. etc.). is 2mg your normal dose? Try talking to your doctor to go to 4?
body aches are normal for the first few days, try doing a little exercise, nothing to big, just some push ups, and stretchs. Don't over work it, suboxone is like a antidepressant it takes a little time for it to work.

I wasn't on anything when I was prescribed suboxone this time so for about the first week I felt energy and slightly buzzed (even though that's not really what I'm looking for.) I just felt content and had enough energy to get things done. I'm prescribed 2mg 3 times daily. I guess the "buzz" kind of wore out a couple days ago. I think I just might try to take just 2mg a day for a while. I'm a little apprehensive about going against my doctor's orders but I think 2mg/day would be sufficient.

how long does suboxone stay in your system? I've heard that suboxone kind of works like an anitdepressant in the long wrong and I'm intrigued by this. Even after taking it for about a month will it still help with lethargy like it has this past week or will I become totally tolerant to it? will it help with aching in the long wrong also? For some reason (I think it may have something to do with the suboxone) I have seemed a little bit more secluded from people I have been very close to in the past. I seem to only want to be around my family.

Most places will tell you it has a half-life somewhere around 36 hours.

I've been on 4mg for almost a year now, and because of how long it lasts, I can comfortably skip an entire day and not even notice. Many times I simply forget to take it and it doesn't bother me at all. When I wake up on the third day, however, I do need to dose.

im dependant on 2-4mg of bupe a day (tho prescribed 10mg, down from 24, tho always only on 2-4) for about 5 months noe

im ready to be off. not to use. im just tired of needing it.

can anyone write me a taper schedule with me having 20mg left. also i have xanax to use to help, so factor that in (bars, of course, tho i can eat a handful)

any helps, thanks
any flame, fuck u

Yeah man I saw that shit. I wondered what the fuck she was doing. She was even on the DEA list not to be prescribed narcotics. They said she went to over like 100 different doctors in the past 5 years. Gotta love intervention. best show ever. But yeah I saw that fat bitch nodding out and talking like a crazy loon sitting in her damn garage. And those poor kids!
