Bupe Suboxone/Buprenorphine FAQ and Megathread v.1; 2007 - 2010

^^^ I hear that... Seems most Dr's want to start a high dose to ensure long term use/long term $$$ in their office... I found the very same thing... But, while I may know recovery and talk a good one, I'm struggling just like anyone, and coming off a relapse. My personal experience (this fucking instant) is that 2mg of sub (sublingual) is holding me coming off of 300+mg oxy a day. Thats not really a pussy dose of oxy, and for 2 mg under my tongue to be holding me, speaks volumes for suboxone. I understand that IV is 100%, plugging is better that sublingual, so forth and so on... But I for one took all my administrations into my own hand during active addiction... Where did that get me? I need to pull over and let someone else drive when its time to successfully recover

yea, i just got out of detox where i was using methadone. i used a bag since i got out. but that's it. they didn't seem to mind that much. so now i'm going back again today and see what he'll do. i think 8mg to start is fine. i just want it to take care of the cravings.
Although i am a big needle junkie. i don't think i'm going to try and bang them. i've banged quite a few pills in the last month so i should stop while i'm ahead. i don't even wanna hear if they effects will be better. i'd rather just take it sublingualy

^^^ good, Cocksucker... You got the right attitude. 8mg will take care of any subsiding wd's you may have and the cravings for sure... See how you feel about getting down to half that in a week or 2... But listen to your body first and foremost... Good luck w/ the sub maintenance, let us know how you're feeling

Try out 4mg and see if it holds you. A good percent of people feel perfectly fine on 4mg. Just don't take buprenorphine with the addict mentality of more is better, which is hard to do.

Anyone know if a once monthly bupe injection exists yet? I feel like this would be a great way to deter heroin use.

^ Where does a "once monthly" bupe injection exist? The half-life is way too short to allow a once monthly injection.

^^as it was described to me by my Dr. ( 3yrs ago) there exists a monthly naltrexone injection that is used as a suboxone follow-up... At the time (mind you this was 3 yrs ago from his mouth) he suggested it in the beginning of my sub maintenance as a "precautionary" follow-up just in case I still did not trust myself completely getting off suboxone. While it would not provide any wd or craving relief, it would block the effects of any opiate I was to injest for that month.

that is the only monthly shot that I'm aware of regarding sub maintenance.

Not to be confused w/ naloxone, a shorter acting antagonist. Its used as an opioid receptor blockade for rapid detoxification.

I'm not sure how it works for the monthly injection to be honest. I do distinctly remember my Dr. suggesting it initially then made no more mention of it during taper and subsequent cessation. (?) Not sure if this helps, but it rings a bell with me

Here's another more in depth case study of the same study found by dopiate...

My question is why is this news to us? Not that its unheard of obviously we found it, but why isn't it being introduced to us addicts as an option?? I would have preferred this! Be sure to read about the hydromorphone administrations! They gave the subjects up to 80mg daily to test bupes blocking capabilities... Cool shit

wow, that would be a extremely positive option for some people. just once a month injection. people who have busy lives or need to work 12hrs a day.

^ not to mention that this way would eliminate risks of people injecting, snorting, etc... AND it would eliminate a black market for the tablets... If all of us got our shots 1x/month, there would be no middleman, no pharmacy.... OHHHHHHHHHHHHH, wait, no wonder why they didn't approve the shot. Can't make no money of our poor asses without paying a pharmacy

We got played by the feds once again

Nah, thats not it. If it were available it would be a cool $1000.00 per injection i'm sure.

I do believe this would be a great option though. The only problem i have with people getting all hyped up about the hydromorphone depot is eventually you don't get the same effect and there is no blockade effect leaving addicts back on the streets to supplement.

^ wait... did you just disagree w/ one of my posts/ideas dopie?!?! So not like you ;)

"Nah, thats not it. If it were available it would be a cool $1000.00 per injection i'm sure." yeah, and then the fucking pharmacies wouldn't see a fucking penny

Pharmaceutical companies don't give a shit if walgreens sees a penny, all they care about is if 3/4 of that penny makes it to them.

Hows a Sub Doc wean you down?

Curious how a Doctor weans an addict using Suboxen. One thing I know for sure is that they prescribe a dose way way too high to start. Just from reading threads and experience I know this. Wondering if they start telling you to skip a day, then two, etc.? I'm an off the street user and also got my Subs off the street.

Thanks!!

My doctor didn't taper me at all. I was using 4mg most of the time. When I tapered I went straight to 2mg. Then I dissolved 10mg of bupe in 1cc of water and used a needless syringe to measure doses. I think I finally quit taking it at .5mg.

In. Yo. Face. :)

lol nice touch.

Just so you know, I wasn't doubting you. I just found it hard to believe.

That's pretty awesome, though. Thanks for posting the link.

Unless they just added up the average amount a person pays to be prescribed pills, then charged you twice that for the injection.

I have a feeling if this becomes popular, that will probably be what happens.

Or, pretty much what dopiate said; charge $1000 per injection. I wouldn't put it past anyone.

Yeah the docs usually work with you and dont try to ween you down until you feel comfortable doing so. Once you get there it is a very slow process, once you get down to 1mg, you go down to .5 for awhile and thats typically the jump off point. Was in my case anyway. Every doc is different.
