Still feeling DXM effects after 5 days

Not saying it's HPPD, but just to let you know, even if it were to be HPPD, it's still not something to worry about. I have very very bad HPPD, the more I think about it, the worse it gets. For most it can go away over time. It's a cycle of anxiety that I wish I didn't even have to say to you. It makes my visuals on other drugs more unique. though I'm to the point where I can take a valerian root and get sick visuals. If I stare at the wall for a minute and let my site lose focus, before I know it my visuals have gone into another psychedelic dimension almost.
Benzos did not help me.
I personally got HPPD from dxm that I remember, but not really noticeable until I did some shitty RC.

"It's getting to be very hard to discern what's real and what's a placebo or hypochrondria."

What symptoms are you still currently experiencing? I have read the posts, but some were awhile ago.
And it's safe to say it's not brain damage, I know many have said that to you already though.

Feel free to PM if you want to as well.

I don't know if the right term is dissociation or derealization, but it's like a first-person, third-person view if that makes any sense. It gets better and worse, but it's never entirely gone. It comes with a mild sort of pressure/headache, on the temples and forehead, which I've always felt when I'm high. Some days I find the dissociation is particularly bad, and during those times I also have trouble with memory and keeping conversation. But I don't know if that's actually a real problem, or just something my mind is making up. I'd never thought about memory until recently, and I really don't think it's possible for me to have gotten worse, so I feel safe saying that's just my mind playing tricks on me. The visuals have calmed down a bit, or I've gotten used to them to the point where they aren't alarming.

Thanks a lot for the helpful post, by the way. :)

I'd say derealization\depersonalization. I've had everything you've just experienced before in the past, anxiety can do so much, to the point where you think you're dying etc. I'd honestly look into a benzodiazepine prescription, such as lorazepam, xanax, etc. to take as needed.
Just whatever you do, try not to over think it, for sure will make it worse. And if you find that you're over thinking it by trying not to over think it, again, I'd say anxiety. Well, it is a 'real problem', but a fictional problem in a way of that makes sense. It's kind of like (maybe this doesn't happen to most people lol) when you start thinking about how you pronounce certain words, it starts to feel off etc.

Either way, hypochondriac symptoms\placebo\what have you, if the symptoms are fake (but real enough to you) maybe worth getting a benzo script to take occasionally. Just don't get dependent, worst withdrawals ever.

Even if those symptoms aren't anxiety, it's for sure involved.
Not trying to psych you out! But what you're describing has hit home before.

If my understanding is right, what's going on is either HPPD that causes visuals and derealization; HPPD that causes visuals, which causes anxiety, which causes derealization; or something else. But based on my understanding of HPPD, that it's transient and goes away in under a year, I am not afraid of it. The reason I'm so anxious is that it may be something more insidious, that may take longer to go away, or maybe never will. If I knew it was HPPD, and therefore that it would go away (relatively) soon, I would feel much better about it.

your dose was 450mg. i'd guess that there are millions if not tens of millions of people that have taken that dose of DXM. if you did have permanent effects from it you'd be one of the first ever.

Yeah, but few people feel it for a month too. :) It's not much solace that I'd be one of the really, really unlucky ones instead of just the unlucky ones.

Either it's anxiety, or HPPD. If it's hppd, just subside from as many psychoatives as possible until you notice the symptoms subside. Could be a week, could be a month, or could be like mine where I got HPPD, accepted it then did a shit ton of other drugs. Regardless, just hang in there. It will get better. As I continued my drug usage and accept it, things are fine. But if you don't want HPPD (if you have it), then subside from drug usage, be patient, it could take months. Just try not to worry about it.

Out of curiosity, did you have a bad trip?

You do not have any damage, it's possibly psychosomatic, anxiety, or HPPD or a little bit of them all. Either way, you'll be fine.

Thanks, I really am starting to think that's the case. I actually had a really enjoyable experience. Were it not for this I'd try it again!

So in the meantime, I thought I'd double check exactly what was in the syrup to see if I missed anything:

As far as I know, they're just thickeners, sweeteners and lubricants, but it can't hurt to check again.

Hang in there. Late reply I know but I hope your condition is better. For others that might experience this feeling make sure you dose carefully. Over doing it and combining with the wrong things can have severe physical and psychological side effects. From experience one would know... Stay up
