Somebody explain to me this whole thing against 'snitching'

Basically im saying you go against the law, youre in a different position now and in that position the real laws are no longer your laws. You cant pick and choose you got to play the game by the rules of the game that you are in, and no goin back.

no offense but
freedom is important more than anything. without that your nothing. your existence mean nothing if you are behind bars. sometimes its better to rat people. personally if the deal with cops is good i can rat anyone, including my friends. for me doing drugs is just entertainment. but its also business and in business world, you must take care & be careful about your benefits. you must know how to use people, lie, trick and take advantage. if you dont follow these simple rules you end up in jail without drugs while ppl who rat you still out and partying
 
In the USA police tend to exploit people at the bottom and try to work their way up the ladder by turning people.

This is bad police work. Its lazy, has the potential to be ineffective, puts the wrong people away, and creates fear within the community which can result in harm to people in the game and innocent people.

By stopping snitching, you force police to do real police work and target real problems in the community, not people buying tiny amounts of shit, to work up to someone that actually is a dealer.
 
I'm about as far away from "ghetto culture" as you can get and there is no way I would EVER act as an informant.

Nobody likes a tattletale. It's as simple as that.

I would have an ethical problem not reporting a crime involving violence or if children are involved. If in the future I choose to use anything illegal (currently I do not) and I got caught, I would not reveal my source.

I have been tattled on for a non-drug related issue and did not retaliate against the person. Recently I found out that their life has sought its own level of suckiness. Karma tends to take care of this sort of thing.

If I or someone close to me were robbed/mugged/raped/other serious crime, I would absolutely report the crime because that is not tattling.

If anyone in the US ever thinks of tattling/acting as a CI, be aware that the Witness Protection Program will do absolutely jack shit for you.

Fuck rats.
 
For me i believe in divine justice...whatever someone does to me or whatever situation i find myself in, i do not wish to invoke more drama or cause more pain. Even if someone were to cause me pain i will still forgive them because i wish to transmute and heal my suffering so my soul can grow..

I've found myself in a situation where i had an opportunity to snitch on a friend who was a dealer but i would not wish suffering on anyone..no matter the circumstances i find myself in.

I believe in karma and i don't wish to create more for myself, and i believe that if others create it for themselves then divine justice will take care of it...

Thats a different matter altogether. People like rapists and child molesters deserve to be in prison plain and simple. Sadly the courts here often go much easier on them then people with drug offenses which just makes me sick.

Ive heard of women reporting getting raped and the cops doin jack shit they didnt care. Yet they go nuts over a grow op bust and it's all over the news. The only crime they are worried a bout stopping is the kind that will get them headlines.

No, without your word you are nothing. They can lock you up and throw away the key and you still have your DIGNITY. Something you will definately lack if you are "out partying" after rattin someone out. I know wat Id rather have. Your logic is the same as the people who would rather turn tricks to get money becuz "its better than being broke". Watever. believe wat you want but at least I know where I stand. It aint about loyalty to others its loyalty to your SELF and the shit you believe in. I dont want to make this thread about flaming so I will keep wat I really think to myself. A person who would proudly brag that they would easily turn in their best friends to get themself ahead aint the type of person that I would ever want to be in my life.

But wat yall dont realize when you think that people wont snitch on these peeps, is that they get dealt with. Yall might think "wat the fuck, this guy knows that the dude in apt 6E is touchin little kids and he wont call the cops on him? wat a scumbag, no snitching so youre gonna let little kids get hurt?" Not realizing that the guy in apt 6E is gonna get laid out on the ground with his ass beat so thoroughly that he cant even walk and chokes to death on his own blood before he can even lay his fingers on another kid.

Thats street justice. I aint saying one thing is better than the other I am just pointin out that the reason people dont call cops aint becuz they are too concerned with not snitchin to care about someone elses life. it aint out of selfishness or a lack of care abot wat happened. its becuz the evil scumbags that do that type of shit to people are hated in the hood as well and they get dealt with the only difference is its out on the streets instead of wat would happen to them eventually in prison anyways.

Also I dont kno wat is so hard for yall to understand about people not trusting the cops. i dont know wat yall neighborhoods are like or how the cops are there. but when you live in a place where the jakes dont do nothing but cause pain and suffering for you and your family you dont trust them like that. Yall ever seen how long it takes to get something done with cops when it comes to shit in the hood , in areas they dont like to go to, areas witout alot of money and high paid cops and plenty of staff on the paramedics team. people die becuz the ambulance takes so long to get there. I seen shit myself, a accident somewhere and the ambulance takes forever the streets are crowded no one will get out of the way it took a half hour for the shit to make it 2 or 3 blocks cuz of traffic and apathy people not willing to move over and let them get thru.

People die and the cops dont do shit. People see someone creepin around their house but when the cops come instead of findin the perp they go check every resident of the house for warrants and end up takin a brother or sister with them on the ride back. you ask for help and they laugh at you. they ride thru your block looking to stop and harass people just minding their own business. they beat up your neighbors for walkin late at night and 'acting suspicious". Why would you call the people who are the constant rivals in your every day existence, to help you when you need it, when all they have ever done for you is hurt.

People raised in wealthy or suburban enviroments are raised with the cops at schools, at the town fair, at 'community day', smiling, answering questions, being nice and polite and children are taught that they are their friends and to trust them and tell if something is wrong. They start out from childhood with a happy safe trusting relationship with law enforcement.

Kids in the hood see from day one the shitty way that cops treat their brothers sisters cousins mothers fathers friends neighbors, who ever. They see the injustice and unfairness of the way that the law is applied to fit watever the cops want it to fit to get wat they want. cops aint a friendly benevolent orginazation thats always looking out for their own good, they are a cruel force that can ruin lives at will in a matter of seconds. when you live your whole life seeing the people that are supposed to be helping you, hurt you instead, of course you are gonna grow up with a healthy distrust for them. And that is why you dont call the cops when your mother gets mugged, you and your brother and your older cousin and your boys from around the way all go and find that bitch ass and run his shit and give him a solid ass whuppin for good measure.

That is solving the problem in a way the whole neighborhood can agree on, becuz the cops wouldnt do shit anyways. Do you think they actually investigate crimes in the hood like that? they laugh! They dont give a fuck! Someones purse got stolen? Oh like the 45 other purses that got robbed this week? Ha, wat a joke. they got murders to sit around and not solve becuz the victim wasnt a pretty white girl. they got surveillance to watch on the poor guy tryna hustle up some money for his baby mother. they aint gonna go find the guy that mugged you. best belive that shit. go see for yourself how it works and then report back to me on how calling the cops is gonna solve a god damn thing. people take things into their own hands when the shit thats already in place to take care of it aint workin. Something is failing in communities like that n the solution may not be violence and petty renegade justice but the fact is something is wrong there there is a dysfunction in the system and to ignore that and act like the world is the same all over is jus close-minded.

Yall have different mind sets from bein raised in a different way. i understand why its like that. But try and realize that the majority of the stop snitching movement is started n rooted in the hood where this shit is actually really relevant to every day life, not just something supported by drug users in suburbs who dont commit other crimes so its only relevant to the way they see drugs. the attitude towards the cops in general is one of fear and distrust and that is why people avoid them as much as possible even in situations where others are hurt, becuz shit does get dealt with and handled even if it may not be in the same neat little 'let the cops handle this one' way that yall would solve it. Just 2 different ways of life that is all. I am really suprised how hard it is for people to see this becuz its very clear where all that type of shit comes from. it aint as simple and stupid as wat yall make it out to be.
 
I, personally don't see anything wrong with snitching in your 'getting mugged' scenario. Any violent crime, or theft committed against you, which you did not provoke in any way (rape excluded. there are violent crimes committed in self-defense. there is no self-defensive rape. rape is always fine to snitch about.) is alright to tell the cops about if you feel you can't or don't want to take it into your own hands.

The problem is people snitching on crimes that do not involve them. Like snitching on drug-dealers they saw across the street. or someone getting beat up or killed (who knows? they might have completely deserved it.) Harm must be done in some way to actually consider snitching about something (doesn't mean you always should, but some kind of harm must be a factor) and when you snitch on a crime that does not involve you, you cannot assess if there is harm. Let the victim snitch. Even if the crime was murder and the victim is no more, unless you know the whole story and were not just a bystander, it's not your place to get involved.

I thought we were all supposed to live by the golden rule. "Treat others like you want to be treated". Snitching to reduce your own time is bitch move because it just completely disregards this rule, and being a good person in general. If you got busted by your own fault, then you gotta face the consequences, theres no reason anyone else needs to face consequences for your actions by throwing them under the bus with you.

The only appropriate time to snitch is when YOU get robbed, beaten, or raped. Or someone you know un-deservingly gets murdered or kidnapped. There must be an innocent victim. If not, don't snitch.
 
I dunno its a tough call, i cant put a blanket over this and say "i'd do this and not this" it depends on the situation. Like if i knew someone who raped/shot someone else i'd grass on them 99% certainty. I'd not grass on someone for shit that doesnt involve me or my family or friends, like if i saw a guy dealing it woulndt botherme buti fi saw a mine/mates house getting burgled and i knew who did it, the'd be in trouble one way or another.

Maybe It'd be different if i lived in a tight neighbourhood where everybody knows you and word got out about being a snitcher then your life is gonna be shit so i'd think pretty hard about doing anything. There was a case in the UK when a 11 year old boy got popped by accident and nobody came forward even though many citizens supposedly knew who did it, that is fucked up. I understand why people dont trust cops, especially ethnic minoritys but when some innocent child gets killed over nothing then somebody needs to get busted for that.

the whole stop snitchin thing started here in baltimore, and its has evolved to be understood as a few different things: Like if you and your boy get popped doing something illegal, you both should keep your mouths shut because A) You dont want to snitch on your boy and B) You both knew you were doing something illegal and need to be responsible.

But its more than that, what they mean in the video is like dont do illegal shit and when you get popped rat out other ppl you barely know just to get a free pass. Some of the points are totally valid, however it has gotten blown entirely out of proportion by kids on the street that think snitchin is telling anything on anyone. It is also understood that once you enter the game, you can rip and run just like anyone else in the game can do it to you. Its understood that no one is gonna go to the cops. The old school dudes know whats up, leave the civilians out of it.

If you get mugged on the street or some shit, go to the cops, why wouldnt you? If you are a drug dealer and someone pulls a gun on you and steals your drugs, dont go to the cops and rat the person out while avoiding to mention the reason the person robbed you was because you were selling drugs!

Its about accepting responsibility because if you know you are doing something illegal that could result in your incarceration, dont make someone else pay for your shit.

i wasnt trying to flame you lacey<3 sorry if my post sounded harsh:) i can see your point, i used to think like you when i was at your age. im sure eventually you'll think different. let me clear myself, i love doing drugs ok? dignity is cool thing really but i dont actually care that kind of stuff;) for me, the only important thing is getting drugs and doin them;)

Agreed. The stop snitching movement doesn't really mean don't call cops at all, although most people involved in illegal activity would say that giving any information (especially about themselves) to the cops such as a phone call complaint is considered snitching. Someone smashed a window of mine and took some items from my house and my parents called the cops. That is definitely not snitching. My families safe-haven was violated and intruded. I don't think that is snitching. As stated above, a lot of it has to do with commiting a crime (a very popular example is selling drugs) and snitching on the dealer above you to get your sentence reduced. Although, from second hand information (such as Gangland TV show and biographies), in gang infested communities and neighborhoods in poverty, I would assume the no snitching rule applies to any violent crime commited, people shouldn't call the cops. A lot of people are intimidated and scared to call the cops because of situations like this.
 
The rule I always followed was that I never snitched on my source when I got caught. Likewise, if we get caught when we're in a car, I own what's in my pocket, you own what's in your pocket, no one stashes shit in anyone else's car. BUT, if you try to do some greezy shit, I will call the MAN, you better believe it.
 
the whole thing is based on NOT running your mouth if U & somebody else goes down for the same thing. If youre moving weight or any other illigal activity be prepared to go to prison , be a man & not to rat out your sources or colleagues.

Thats the whole concept. NOT seeing random crimes & not reporting them. thats not what its about. IF YOU DO THE CRIME BE A MAN & DO THE TIME.

Dont engage in illegal activities if you arent prepared to go to prison. its a pretty fuckin' honorable concept to me.....

I have heard people labeled snitch very often without any proof. I'm sure that in many situations people have really destroyed people by insinuating that someone is a snitch. I'm sure that many times the snitch label has been attached to someone for entirely inaccurate reasons. This whole snitch issue has got to be among the most poisonous aspects of drug culture. Law enforcement and moral do-gooders don't need to expend much energy to damage drug users if drug users energetically destroy one another.

A foggy confusion about who is a snitch aids law enforcement and is likely an intentional tactic. 'No snitchin' has some valid principle to it, it doesn't help anything as an irrational, unyielding preoccupation.
