Somebody explain to me this whole thing against 'snitching'

Snitching to save your own ass = bad

Snitching to get on the cool side of cops, aka a narc or a goody two shoes = bad

Snitching on someone as payback when you yourself were involved with illegal activity with that person = bad

Now if you see someone kill someone else or commit another serious crime that i would consider good. I dont want killers, rapists, robbers etc roaming free to rob me. When two fuckers stole my car, I called the police. Would that actually be considred snitching? If it would be, then that's stupid IMO. So I should just let them get away with it because there's some "street rule" even respectable citizens have to follow if they live in the ghetto? No thanks, I'd rather get my car back and the police are better at that more than me and have more means to do it than me, so let them handle it. The police are good for some things, besides drug related crimes of course.

Calling the police to report that you're the victim of a crime is not snitching. Snitching is informing to the police or testifying in court about stuff that's none of your business, or in any kind of victimless crime.

The worst kind of snitch is someone who gets arrested for his own crimes, and then gets a better deal (often avoiding incarceration entirely) from the prosecutor if he agrees to testify against someone in a different criminal case or implicate a suspect to get a warrant. On the other end of the spectrum, there was a murder trial in Philadelphia I think where a few members of the audience showed up wearing "Stop Snitching" t-shirts just because there was a witness to a fatal shooting testifying. This is a ridiculous co-opting of the attitude, because few people really think murder witnesses should keep their mouths shut about it.

me and my man robbed back his car when it got robbed like 6 years ago. Its easy if you got peoples in the hood that be out there, they will know whose comin and goin in wat whip, if you dont got people its simple, Find feen/bum who is near the area it got robbed, offer money if they know where to find the whip at, only give it to them when you find it. thats how my man got his car back when it got jacked in asbury park LOLOL. Plus now we know where all the hidin spots and hidden parkin lots/back alleys is for hiding hot cars in that city :D

pigs said it was a permit for a permit
so it was invalid

If you need to rollover on someone because your to bitch ass to do the time, than dont do the crime.... Or always be faced with looking over your shoulder, waiting to get popped.

I basically agree with drug_mentor. There are clear instances where snitching is wrong, basically those when you exonerate yourself at someone else's expense.
