Sniffer dogs

They usually dont have the dogs out longer then 45mins or so at a time, because the dogs get bored. They did this at Stereosonic Perth back in November, had dogs on for about 30mins or so.. took them away.. came back an hour later for about 30mins or so.. then disappeared again.

Heat is the enemy of the working dog. If its over 30, they have to pull em in most cases.

An old, oft repeated myth regarding beating X Rays. Has been totally irrelevant since the 1970s, yet still many use it.

K9 Coppers live with their dogs. Doggies go home with them at the end of their shift. You injure a police member's dog, be prepared to reap the whirlwind.

well thats what u get if u stick ur nose into something that u shouldnt ahahaha

Looks like Adelaide Big Day Out will be safe from the dogs, forecast of 41 degrees and looking highly unlikely to drop below 30 at all.

The dogs at Melb. BDO weren't German Shepherds, aren't those the dogs they're meant to use?

Anyways, we got in no problem - rolled up bandanna did the trick. When we drove past there were dogs everywhere, when we got in there wasn't one in sight. It almost seemed too easy.

Been labradors at previous events in Melbs.

I can't stress enough - it's all about your reaction.

Take reasonable precautions. From there, walk with mates, chat, walk the direct path to entry and ignore the dogs. Someone I know wandered right through the middle of a group of police and their associated hounds while wandering into an event - all the while keeping up a conversation. The dog sniffed at his leg - and he kept on walking.

At another event someone I know was leaning against a bin waiting for the gates to open at the beginning of the event. Dogs come up to them, sniff. Brain freaks, but they continue doing what they were doing and keep a straight face.

The dogs are trained to sniff at everything - so don't stress if they do that.

If you deviate your path or if you stop and wait once you can see them - you've blown it and become a target. The police aren't just in the group with the dogs - they're also watching from a distance.

Just pretend you're playing a poker game and need to bluff your way through a round.

Just drop some ACID, they wont pick it up :)

But seriously.. the dogs are so unnecessary, i dont know if its already in effect over in the eastern states.. but they did mention this year they'll be bringing in dogs to patrol outside the clubs and bars here in Perth..

Soon enough i wont be able to walk down my own street without bumping into them..

Its all about 'CONTROL CONTROL CONTROL'

They bring them into the clubs over here. The first time you see it, you actually question if it's real. 8o

The one thing to keep in mind is that their primary tactic in these situations - just like at festivals - is not actually using the dogs 'skills', rather, they are looking for the reactions of those within the club. They will have plain clothes operatives inside before the dogs come in, who will then watch for people's reactions and then guide the uniformed police to nervous punter - usually through hand signals. Keep in mind it's not often hard to pick up who the plain clothes police are because they're usually so uncomfortable in that environment that they stick out like dogs balls, they have had the same brown bottled beer for the previous 3 hours or they ask anyone and everyone if they've got any 'eckies'.

I've found that if you're in your own little world, then by the time you react, they have already left the building. ;)

I've got a music festival this weekend in Tassie and it has been announced that there's going to be sniffer dogs there. It starts at 11am but I plan to go at around 1.30-2ish I reckon. Is it more likely they will have gone by then? It's meant to be 31 degrees as well.

A way I have been thinking about this is to intentionally rub marajuana all through your pockets and hands and give the good stuff to your friends. The dog and cops will be so busy checking you out that your mates can waltz on by while the cops give you a good search and find bugger all on you.

Never tried it but it could work.

Haha, great idea.

If you were to get cought with a couple of pills, would it just be an on the spot fine or would you get a record and have to go to court?

You have to go to court. Even if it's only one, you'll go to court and get a 6month good behaviour bond most likely.

I'm pretty sure they just confiscate them and give you a warning for the first time.

Over 6 or 7 (depending on what state you are in and you are charged on intent to deal which would go to court I assume)

If we were sending every kid with 1 or 2 pills on them at a music festival to court, our system would be backlogged for months.

Well my best mate was caught at Field Day with 2 and he had to go to court and received a 6month good behaviour bond. So I'm assuming it'd be the same with everyone.

That's what is meant to happen, though if it's only 1 or 2 they will often just confiscate them.

Anyone think there will be dogs at Good Vibes in Perth this weekend? I think i read they were notably absent over East last weekend, possibly as a result of what happened at Perth BDO.

The dogs have only recently arrived in Perth and have been used at train stations. With GV being on an island there is no station and with the long walk and narrow single entrance it would be perfect for dogs. Hence i'm reading up on all the avoidance techniques(!)

I also heard that those that got done at the last few events, for only like 3-4 pills had them confiscated, some sort of finr/infringement/summons and were still allowed to go to the festival? can anyone confirm or otherwise for WA.

The threat of dogs wont stop me at all, just want to know what is the "worst case" if i get found with a few in WA.

anyone can help?

^Pretty sure its up to the cops descretion if he wants to be a cunt and ruin your day or not. Im pretty sure legally they are ment to lock you up for alittle while. Pills are pretty easy to sneak in anyways as they tend not to smell. If your really that paranoid dump one or two before you go and shove one or two in a water bomb (you can throw it up later, just becareful im not sure if stomach acid could get inside the water bomb and digest the pill which could cause problems?), tie it up and put it in your mouth. If you get sniffed out, swallow, if you dont you can take it out later. What ever you do the place will be swarming with undercovers so I would only redose in something like a toilet.
