^OK, jerk. Thanks for quoting just about everyones post except mine, ignoring my brilliant observation that an opiate buzz causes contentment, and a stimulant buzz causes more cravings.
I've quit smoking several times; honestly, I don't think "nicotine withdrawals" even exist. But still, I can make an argument that, strictly speaking, "smoking is harder to stop than heroin".
Now matter how bad your heroin habit is, you can always stop taking heroin, easily. How? Just take another opioid.
Notice that this doesn't work so well with smoking. Look at all the people who've tried to quit smoking by using patches, dip, or snuff. The difference is clear. With a replacement opioid, you get...opiated. Part of being opiated is that all your cares and concerns dissipate--hence, your cravings for a particular drug, like heroin, dissipate as well. The same cannot be said of a nicotine "high".

where did this come from??many many people tell me this and insist it is true, but how do they come to that result??are there any studies that find nitocine to be a more difficult addiction??
myself, i have been addicted to heroin(IV) but have never smoked a cigarette ever in my life but i can tell you, i have been thru heroin withdrawal and it is quite hellish and i have seen my sister constantly stop smoking for a few weeks, then go back to smoking yada yadda...i have seen her withdrawals and yes, she is irritable and craving but that is it...SSOOO, why do people think smoking is harder to quit than heroin??could it be true??
smoking is more addictive than heroin
I have been using poppy pod tea twice a month now for several months.
I have no craving EVER for it.
However I crave nicotine almost everytime I drink alcohol, yet I have never been addicted to fags.
Which makes me think its true that nicotine is more addictive than heroin/opiates
We are NOT discussing which is more addictive. We are discussing which is harder to stop using and to continue to not use.
Sounds like a stupid question, but what does "to stop using and to continue to not use" mean?
A five year heroin addict kicks the habit. About a year later he goes to a party and rails a bag. He continues to use once or twice a year for the rest of his life without ever becoming dependant again. Does he satisfy the definition of "to stop using and to continue to not use"?
