It was a Google account, registered to Blake Benthall. (Google Apps allows users to register a Gmail account with a personal domain name.) He used the same e-mail in his public profile on Github and his public Twitter profile shows that benthall.net was his website

I know everyone has to live somewhere but it always amazes me where some people, dealers, live. I know Aberdyfi quite well, often go camping near there. Its tiny and, on the face of it, one of the last places I'd go looking for a major drug dealer. You never can tell etc.

On a side note, and this means nothing to anyone but me...I am currently in Bali at the site of my mate's ashes. My mate died because of Silk Road and the WoD. It's a long story. But I found the synchronicity of this story breaking just when I've come to visit his ashes quite alarming.

-SR2 has been compromised since the very first day, at the drawing board step.
-Blake Benthall, aka "Defcon", also lived in the USA.
-he logged as defcon on his personnal computer
-he registered the silkroad servers using his real email, which was actually his entire name.
-he bought 270,000$ worth of luxuries from cash exchanged from bitcoin on public exchanges using his own ID in the 2 first months of SR.
-physicial surveillance from his house matched the conection times of Defcon and massive tor usage
-he accessed some silkroad server functionalities and did silkroad-related bitcoin transactions on a normal browser

I never normally use net slang but OMFG! It's market evolution though. It's parallel evolution on both sides. We should never lose sight of the fact that the great majority of today's hackers and ideologists will one day get married and have kids. That's when they swap sides and take their knowledge with them.
