So how long does everyone think the season is going to last in Melbourne, I trhink I got go out again before it's to late.

You have untill late July and i have seen them in smaller amounts from time to time in August.

Don't be too keen to rush out and pick.

We need another decent rain and then give them a few days to mature after that.

You'll find them in shady damp places at the moment but not in large quantities.

Good luck

as a total shroom noob would I be correct in saying the only worthy ones to find around sydney (at the moment atleast) are:

Psilocybe australiana
Psilocybe eucalypta
Psilocybe subaeruginosa?

I know id have bugger all chance of being able to accurately identify em atm but is that the ones one should be looking for?

Hey there, you're looking for Psilocybe subaeruginosa

Recent studies have shown there is no such thing as Psilocybe australiana and Psilocybe eucalypta. They have all been classed as Psilocybe subaeruginosa variants because they are so macroscopically simillar it's just different appearances due to habitat variants and not actually another species...

Just a happy fact for you all...

Happy hunting

How funny. I was down there this weekend aswell and everywhere i looked for shrooms there were fucking Emu Bitter cans and upturned shrooms. As well as on the property we were staying at.

Indeed i was unsuccessful on my journey to Balingup this weekend. What a weird "coincidence" hey :X

:! that wasnt me mate because i didnt drink any EB %) that day. but i cant say i didnt collect all the shrooms ;) . im going down again soon so i just hope i dont run into you.

Not very nice man ^^, i dont think alloy cans will help the mushrooms grow somhow, nor the rest of the environment really .... prick.

I would just like to reinforce this point. Eating the wrong type of Shrooms can not only make you very very sick, but it can kill you.

Maingy, as this is a Harm Reduction website, it's not funny to think about your friend getting unwell for eating the wrong type of shrooms.

If you are not sure what you are looking for I suggest you take someone who is experienced, or you don't go hunting.

Also just a reminder to our new poster to have a read over the guidelines for this thread.

Thanks :)

These are taken from last years thread written by fry-d.

Lets set some rules from the start.

No asking for ID's.

No asking for spots to search or places to hunt.

If this thread gets long like the last few have, make sure you completely read it and search the old ones so we don't have to keep repeating the same information over and over.

Lets try and keep it all together in one thread.

...and remember this is not social

Here is the link to last years thread, please read it BEFORE posting a question as 99% of the time someone else has asked it and there are plenty of good answers.

Mushroom Season 2007

Also just a note, there are far better resources on the 'net for mushroom ID/growing so be sure to do your research first.

Went up to a patch in Hobart this morning. Third time I've been up and the other two have been disappointing as.
However this morning was a cranka! took home about 300 or so of the hugest sub's I've seen in a long time and left at least four times the amount in pins and smaller, but still developed shrooms.
Although the rains haven't been heavy the cold and on and off drissle seem to have come through massively!

There has been a lot of rain out the South East. Next week will be good for hunting, but without even trying to hunt for them I'm finding some random ones every now and then, so keep your eye's open for em!

does anyone go after other plants apart from shrooms? Like maybe some natives containing DMT? seems there is a couple of acacia species with dmt and other alkaloids native around

What acacia species grow around these areas though? I'm defiantly interested now, I can't find any that grow around Melb area's just heaps from Sydney and those areas.

Also I think if you doubted that you would find some shrooms when the season first started i think now would be a good time to go out I'm finding them by accident, not in huge amount but enough to pocket quickly while walking from a to b.

seeing a few young tiny shrooms starting to grow around in the backyard is this the ideal time they start sprouting? just aftr rainy patch in syd. Saw one species that is dark red flat top really cool looking, tho doubt active cause only subs are active really around here yeh?

as for the dmt containing acaica yeh maybe not around melb but who knows they may get planted around, species are maidenii, obtusifolia and many others even
