Biology Sea Levels - Who Cares?

I find it interesting that, considering how many cities world wide are on coasts, that this is being put on the back burner.

I understand that it's a slow process and scary to think about, but it's an eventual process, so what is the plan?

china seems to be the only one with a plan, ramping up production of green energy sources. the US doesn't care if it doesn't increase profits for the next quarter

I've been waiting for them to do something since forever. They either have good insurance, plan on uploading their conscience to a Data Center, or are moving to the DeathStar Musk is building behind the moon.

I'm under the impression that he might have a tough time negotiating for real estate on the moon. Especially for a death star. And I hope that's true. I believe it is.

To think that Elon Musk is that important of a human being is just ridiculous (I know you weren't implying that)

At best, one could say we are placing our faith in our incredible human ability to manipulate our environment and save ourselves...at the last fucking minute. ( and it's true that we are very creative)
But really, as a species, our timelines never extend very far into the future. Do our brains just work that way, only caring about the immediate threat?
As an individual, I do all kinds of environmentally sound things but the result of my actions are effectively zero. It's only through collective action that anything will happen. But look what our collective nation chose for a president, just to give the most egregious example. Our sense of collectivity on a global scale sucks.

How come NYC isn't underwater? These type of doomsday senerios are nonsense and they have proven to be. Besides Trump takes care of Business.lol

musk doesn't even build his own blueprints for its rockets. musk is hand-in-hand with govs, especially us/russia.

musk doesn't play around south pole but who does is our downtown effect that the wind carries there.

very unlikely for the arctic tundra to melt in the next 100yrs as the gov still hasn't finished their homework about our species.

How quickly does the sea level rise?

What is the lifespan of an average building?

We can simply build further inland and move the pretty ones and abandon/recycle the old ones that will no longer be necessary.

Or we can start living underneath the water, like in Bojack Horseman season 3 episode 4, Fish Out of Water.

It has Underwater Times Square!

Better we don't muck it up there then.

The speed of it, I'm not sure it's probably pretty dependant on how we treat the issue? Sounds like @Shady's Fox might have a better idea?

Under water.. I've always been interested in those underground cities, bases, tunnels, bunkers. Never been down a manhole or in a passage way, but I just hope the rich homies at least give us a heads-up before a catastrophe.

If they want to hord their wealth then fine, were already used to this. But not giving us a heads up before something apocalyptic is just next level and I'd hope that we at least have a fighting chance

I see, Zion. Yeah it might exist and either be populated by cannibals or serve as a illuminati party or just where all rich goes during private annoucement we the public do not receive. Such as influenza, certain experiments, bla bla.

I do belive they exist at a certain length and possibly serve half of their purpose, if. But as a cost it would be enormous even for rich, unless you're one of the shadow people that has priority. Most belivable are Moon's craters for ex-alien life rather than Zuckerberg eating a pizza 250m below ;)

I am not sure what the path is -- but I remember many of years ago top scientists saying "This is our last best chance of a hope" Direct quote --- That is TOO MANY QUALIFIERS from a scientist to be very optimistic. (I think that was around the time the name Greta Thumberg became known but not 100%)

Back in elementary (early 90s) they were talking about climate change and how we would really be feeling it in around 30 years --- here we are; worst winter since 1978 and two years ago (If I recall) was the worst since 94'.

So I think it is pretty real and undeniable by anyone that TRULY looks into it IN GOOD FAITH.

However it is not in the interest of the almighty dollar to acknowledge that so a great amount of money and effort has been spent on disinformation --- Dont even get me started on "We gotta go back to charcoal, I hate windmills and solar panels guy"

If you watch where rich (Even climate change deniers) are purchasing property it is fairly clear they are aware what they are spewing is BS.

Living off the largest fresh water lake on earth (Was that redundant, aren't all lakes 'fresh water?) and a fairly large river I will be one of the first ppl screwed I imagine lol

Yeah and actually that reminds me, on the PBS channel yesterday they did a thing on West Coast fires.

Said basically, 5 feet of gravel between houses, vents that don't allow embers to go inside, and flame retardent roof would basically save mostly every house.

And they also said, insurance are starting to not want to cover coasts..

We legit all should go to Denver.

I forget where they said the place to go was but several multi million/billionaires have been buying up property there ill run a google -- i dont think it was denver but that is pretty far above sea level! (Wrong you were dead on about denver if the brief A.I thing is accurate at all)

Denmark and New Zealand -- Billionaires are buyin up (That is one of the reasons; I think; educated guess). our friend A.I says The best places to live for climate change generally offer cooler climates, distance from coasts, stable water sources, and proactive local planning, with the Northeast (Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine), Pacific Northwest (Seattle, Portland), and Upper Midwest *Hooray!* (Great Lakes region) frequently cited for their resilience against wildfires, extreme heat, and sea-level rise, though no location is immune. Inland areas with elevation, like parts of the Rockies (Boise, Denver)

Word.

We need to make sure everyone else doesn't die in the process.

But honestly, Alaska, Canada, Russia, I'd hate to rip down the forrest but if we absolutely had to we could stack up people like sardines there. Maybe even freeze the elderly, put them on dry ice.

Yea I am not sure but if you are on a coast you should prolly think about this at least a bit. I still dont think living off that giant lake is doing me any favors but its nice to hear anyways

Looks like Iceland a big chunk was bought by some ratcliffe billionaire. The Alps are being bought up. Switzerland. Of course these are global players.

US wise MI, WY, CO, and Montana. Idk how accurate that is -- get high above sea level seems a common theme though certainly!

Montana is one of the places we are looking at to move actually. Any clue where is good in montana for a small family looking to cause no trouble--- but also join no hoa and do any of that bs. (Cheap usually isnt those places anyways and cheap is a priority)

Montana is indeed MJ legal correct? Wonder what the prices look like cuz they GREAT in MI (and I am a tough customer ive been told) lol --- if cost of living is less (and I believe it is) who cares it evens out

I am not sure - I just know it's beautiful and some highway speed limits are 80mph which I've never seen before.

My best friend's parents moved there.

And YES - med and recreational too - you'll be chilln
