Scary movies on psychedelics

And how can you enjoy the Saw movies? IMO that kind of shit is damaging to see. Shit like that contributes to the desensitization of society, which is a terrible tragedy and as far as I can see is a large contributing factor in the state of the US today. Who needs that sort of imagery in their head? Not me.

I tried watching the first Saw movie once, and I got about 5 minutes into it before it made me feel sick. :\ I used to be able to watch stuff like that and enjoy it, but once I got into psychedelics I got much too sensitive for it. It practically makes me hurt to see that kind of shit. And I hate how practically every American movie is about torture and abduction and killing recently.

I changed the title to reflect the topic better.

EDIT: Plus, watching movies on psychedelics tends to be a waste of time, IME. Whenever I have watched movies or spend the time on the computer, the trip gets pushed into the background.

right on

I don't even consider the Saw movies "horror". IMO they're a part of a group of movies that is slightly different, but very distinct from horror movies; Psychological thrillers. Classic horror movies and slasher flics bore me. I love psychological thrillers/

If done right, even a slasher or classic horror can have properties of a psychological thriller.

Imagine the fear of having Dracula working through your brain. The despair of Frankenstien's monster as people hate him due to his appearance. The terror of your dreams (which should be one of the safe havens anyone has) being the most dangerous place to live in.

That's true, but I tend to prefer movies who focus on the psychological aspect.

Personally I don't like watching tv on any drugs (except weed and benzos). I find it a bit odd and often hard to follow, plus I get bored. Always ending up wanting to put some music on instead, but some people insist on putting on early morning games shows/phone ins whilst having ketamine sessions. Not the best type of thing to think your a part of as you begin to k-hole.

I watched Fear and Loathing while coming up on acid once. Though it isn't really a scary movie, it put me in that paranoid mindset for a bit. Very thrilling.

Ahh the Saw series. There isn't a better way to bore yourself stupid. If you want the real horror movie experience, you gotta go out into the world and make it for yourself.

Return to Oz

I would say Return to Oz is the scariest movie on psychedelics by a long shot. Yes, this is the sequel to The Wizard of Oz. I'm not sure what the director was on while making this, but the movie is very twisted. Kids don't really seem to be the target audience for this flick. Insanity is a major theme. Early in the film Aunty Em sends Dorthy to a psychiatric hospital to help her with the insomnia she is experiencing after coming back from Oz and to control her persistent references to imaginary places and people that she saw in Oz. Apparently, the doctor thinks electroconvulsive therapy is the best form of treatment for Dorthy.

I could go on and on, but it is better to just watch this one yourself.

I used to love that when I was doing K. (not k-holing tho)

it made me feel like I was in some multidimensional Interzone type reality.

IMO watching a horror movie on a psychedelic is toying with your sanity. :\

I'd say, just smoke weed 'til you're silly if you're looking for a recreational movie watching experience. :) There are much better things to do on psychedelics.

But... to each his own.

I like to watch flicks like Fear & Loathing, Alice in Wonderland or A Scanner Darkly. Scariest movie I've watched while dosed was Natural Born Killers. Very strange.

edit: just noticed the previous poster after the reload :D yeah its definitely a strange movie to watch while tripping.

semi -off topic , can anyone mention some notable movies that may have been presumably made for people to watch while tripping, or are just plain good for tripping and watching, aside from labrynth :D

Heavy Metal is a really trippy movie.

I had great times watching My Name Is Nobody while smoking low-quality salvia during the come-up of a shrooms trip. Also, Full Metal Jacket on K was a special experience: after a major bump, I felt like I was inside the movie, with the drill instructor Hartman.

Watched the ring on a delerient at a time when i was being pretty irresponsible....SUCH A BAD IDEA!! anyway...

A great movie tripping I would definitely say Tron or The Cell

freakiest thing ive seen is Altered States
