Scary movies on psychedelics

I depends on the person how you handle it. I find that when watching movies/tv while tripping I cant grasp the story because it is blatently obvious to me that it is fictional. And also images that I see are warped. One instance that comes to mind is when I was watching TV while tripping (after the trip started to go bad I decided to go home and watch tv) and Naked Gun was on, everybody's heads looked different as if stuck on their bodies. And their bodies were moving out of sinc of their heads. I thought that the whole movie was fimed by somebody else with the heads stuck on. Also rainbows came out the tv set :S

Haha.. I know exactly what you mean! I got that feeling when watching porn on acid. Very bizarre :\

I like comedies if I ever do find the time to watch something on acid. Especially cult classics, like Fear and Loathing. Definitely no horror for me, I can do just fine without that shit. :!

I had a panic attack watching Wolf Creek sober, so I would never try it tripping.... that said, horror movies are great; Wolf Creek fucked my head up for months until I watched it again and realised it was only a movie ;)

I can't believe nobody has mentioned Pink Floyd's "The Wall".....in-fucking-credible movie to watch while on LSD or shrooms (or any hallucinogen).....it was practically MADE for tripping....8o ;)

I don't understand why people like to subject themselves to scary movies / death metal / generally trying to freak themselves / others out on psychedelics ... Personally I try to avoid any negative stimulus / bad vibes for some time before after & certainly during, and would recommend the same to anyone else.

There are disturbing films that I believe can add immensely to a psychedelic experience. And by disturbing I mean in a way that takes talent and vision rather than simply a strong stomach and a lack of tact. The following two artists make some horror films. For example, "Alice" (less so) and "Lunacy" (more so). These clips are only mildly disturbing, but are ment simply as quality representations of their work:
From the DVD: "Visions of Frank"

Jim Woodring is a visual genius. His ethereal animation is the closest to DPT visuals that I've come across.

Jan Svankmajer is one of the most accomplished surrealists alive.

or rent I <3 Huckabees, i can recommend watching that on acid ;)

+1. I really enjoyed that movie on the plateau/come-down phase of a 2C-T-2 trip.

I often find that movies on the tail end of a trip can be very worthwhile. Just as psychedelics can increase appreciation for music, they can increase appreciation for film and narrative as an art form as well. I just think its important to be selective. Just as I wouldn't want to listen to someone growling and screaming while tripping, I wouldn't want to watch senseless violence either.

Well I made that post out of curiosity about others who are not like me, sorry if it came off as judgmental.

I'm always down to learn something, so a little insight perhaps?

Just to repeat, I certainly wasn't planning on going in tripping balls. Maybe one hit of good acid (I'm a bit hard headed to acid and two or three hits of good acid is a solid trip for me, as opposed to one or less for some people). Thanks for the insight. I guess I'll just smoke some pot before I go, just to be on the safe side. I'll gamble with my sanity some other time :D

I went to the cimema to see 'Aliens' with my ex after having some home made hash truffles. By the end of the film she was pretending she didn't know me as I was twitching so much in my seat =D. Took the voluntary element out of 'willing suspension of disbelief'...

Oh and Sigourney Weaver - I've had many naughty thoughts concerning her!

I watched Hannibal on shrooms once, although this isn't real bad, I didn't like it much haha

I actually watched Saw III while tripping... Traumatizing to say the least. I started having mild panic attacks and basically spent the better part of the movie looking away. Though I'm not a particularly squeamish person, I quite often watched beheading videos without even flinching.... but while tripping, SAW seemed to scare me to my core.

Side Note: I cried and began talking to my self as I watched Blood Diamond while I sat there, high on K. Thankfully I was by my self, thus my dignity is still intact.

Movies can have an impact if you allow your self to get mentally involved.

I watched Jason vs. Freddy for the first time on a high dose of DOC. I guess that movie was really cheesy but it didn't seem very cheesy while I was watching it. I was pretty concerned for my life at the time.

I guess its similar to most risk-taking behaviour, to prove you can do something just because you can. I very much enjoy horror/thriller movies, the more wretched and horrifying the better- not because I like seeing these things, but I like feeling all emotions humans are capable of, and if a moving image that has no dimension in space and time can cause an intense emotional response, thats genius IMO. I would rather watch a horror movie on psychedelics then a truly sad film such as the Passion of the Christ (though some would argue that that is a horror movie). Darkness and violence are terrible and undesireable, but the fact is anyone and everyone evr born has the capacity for great evil and good. We are shocked at a horror movie, because the truth of humanity is that we are good, caring, loving individuals, and these such things are abominations, unique, abnormal- thus they grab our attention.

The same applies with the news; if you watch the news, you may think we have a truly evil and vile planet (which at times I think) but if you think about why a murder gets more attention then the millions of births a day; it could be said that because our nature is not of violence and hate, and we accept kindness and affection and compassion as natural- thus the opposite is anomalous and intriguing.

yeah sorry for being an asshole

I watched Jay and Silent Bob while I was tripping on mushrooms and it was ridiculous. I had seen it a bunch of times so I already knew the storyline. Everyone in the movie had three eyes and there were swirling rainbows in all the backgrounds. I just kept thinking to myself "My god this movie is way too fucking long and the plot is so stupid, why the fuck did I ever watch it sober?" I haven't watched it since.

Everytime I watch TV or a movie on psychs it's a complete waste of a trip. But that's just my experience.

WAIT: I take it back. Watch Baraka or Koyaanisqatsi while tripping. Those are the two best movies to watch on psychedelics. I actually came away with a deeper understanding of the world. Totally unlike my experience with Jay and Silent Bob.
