Dude, your suggestion is being taken as serious as a one legged man in an ass kicking contest. Now here's my suuggestion to you, that you quit bitching how the flyer looks, Shut the Fuck up, and bring your geeky ass to the party. Because when party's over and done with, you can leave saying "Damn I wish I had a flyer for that Bad Ass Party." Now there's my suggestion to you... I think that sounds like a great one, don't you agree, or do you need something more to bitch about. So fuck you and have a Nice day. =D

ya know what, this is exactly why I don't post on BL much anymore...you share an opinion that others disagree with and they turn around and attack you. Talk shit all you want, I could care less, it doesn't faze me...talking shit about someone you've never met and obviously know nothing about is just a waste of breath and time...

I think a "hey, this flyer could have been better" is a valid and justifiable point to make... Certainly not something that warrants a "smoke it and die" response....

my only issue is that it shouldn't really matter.

I know alot of people are concerned when they get "poorly made" flyers that the party may not be real. And if someone handed me a flyer with this line up and it was a black n white quarter page flyer, i might be suspect.

however, by now, you should be well versed enough to be able to make that decision based on past promoter performance and not the flyer.

The difference between alot of the more grainy flyer designs and the the glossy ones is something as simple as DPI (or PPI)... it's the difference between hitting the 72 PPI or hitting the 300 PPI... so you really shouldn't make your decision based on that. Either way, both costs the same to print. Brad's flyer is no cheaper to print just b-c the design may not be "up to par" by your standards.

But regardless, you should go by the promoter's history.

Does EE INDUSTRIES have a habit of headliners not showing up or parties being cancelled..?

i think Brad has only cancelled one party in his entire rave history -- that's damned good considering he's been promoting for over 3 years - maybe 4)

and, unless i've been on crack, i don't think Brad has EVER had a headliner not show up.

That should be the main basis for going to a party.

Things you should know by now:

these things are YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to know. After all, you spend close to probably $100 or more of your hard-earned money on these events per month. And you should make educated decisions on who gets your money and which party you think will (by odds) actually go down as advertised on the flyers

you should know sound companies
you should know lighting companies
you should know laser companies

and you should definitely know promoters

so your basis shouldn't be flyer design... it should be your
knowledge on the promoter and the other aspects of the party.

In the above example:

Sound companies in this party: Log2 (hello!??!! They've been longer than probably 85% of the people on this board. Their sound has rarely if ever dissappointed... (altho' there's always SOMEone who claims to be not happy).

Light company in this party: Log2 ... same ...

Laser company in this party: Introspective Laser and Lighting ... a frequent laser tech for Ohio parties. Always professional. Always there. Always rock solid visuals! Plus, Log has a laser that I'm sure they'll be bringing. So, it WILL be a great visual show.

Promoter: 1 unfortunate shut down. 1 cancellation (due to date double booking). 0 incidence of headlienr no shows. That's over a 4 year history. that's a great track record. most promoters aren't as solid when you play the numbers game.

So, if you know -- and like -- the Djs, the above should be the only factor in whether or not you attend (well, besides another party, friends goign elsewhere, etc. those are other factors, obviously).

But it definitely shouldn't be "well, the flyer looks bad..."

and ppl who make there decisions based on something like that are probably also the types of ppl that promoters in Indy generally don't want in their events.... probably.

^^ you better knock on wood or something Brandon!!!! Don't jinks me ;)

All I have to say is please quit the drama...point taken revergeek...I know it could have been done better. this is only the second flyer i have ever designed so for that I think I have done damn good. Although Brandon is right it wasn't a coment that should have gotten that type of response. I just consider it constructive critizism. It wasn't like he said "FUCK DOUBLE E BECAUSE THEY HAVE A DUMB FLYER. THIS PARTY ISN"T REAL!!!" Then I might get a little mad.

Plus not many of you remember but I know brandon remembers back in the OLD OLD school days when a "huge" party wasn't all computerated graphics and $300 design costs and people still came.

I have learned to accept the fact that no one is 100% happy with whatever you do. I have tryed to "cut" corners in my budget so that I could offer the best possilbe party for the price. Considering that Indy is still rebuilding and that this is arguably the best line-up to come to Indy in 2 1/2 years I'd say that I need to make sure that my breakeven is as low as possible so that I don't loose my ass and that I can continue to to bring safe quality shows.

Maybe when the scene gets enought support like in 95-96 or 99-01 then I will start shelling out the extra money for graphic designs and having others do some of the work that I know someone else can do 10 times better. But until then its just me and Photoshop together like an old married couple ;)

^^^ P.S. I think that anyone who has acually seen the flyer would agree that it looks 1000000% better in real form. The pic is really grainy on here becasue I had to make it as little as possible so that every time some one with a dial up can on this forum it didn't take 2 hours for the flyer to load up.

Correction noted, and taken. And I will try to have some interesting toys for this party. So Patry Kyds be prepared!

jeez..gotta luv BL drama.
I'm pretty excited about this party though..Seeing as how one of my best gurlies has a pretty big hand in throwin it :)
not to mention the line-up isn't too shabby...;)

~junglebunnie wut!!

AMEN!

AMEN CHOCOLATE!

Brad and I have put alot of time, money, stress, and preparation into this party to have a great line up, great sound, great lighting (and this will be some great lighting ;) ), and a legal and safe venue for you all to party at. We really have worked hard on this and are counting on all of you to bring the Indy scene back in full force. The more you support the Indy scene (not just us but all the Indy promoters) the better the line up will be. It may take a little while, as most of you know the scene is just now rising from the ashes, but we are in the works of bigger and better things. So, everyone come out, have a great time and don't bring the drama! :)

Ang?... im not sure i have met before but ive met lmnts... I am carrying your flyers every where. Anything to remind the midwest that indy is where its at. I love ohio and ky but id rather stay home and party. So Indy get out and rep for the people throwin parties in your state. The better we do the better talent we can bring and the better parties we can put together. I was gettin all excited for a while when pocket calculator was goin on, I mean 3 parties with in a month is a big deal to me, but im still thrilled to see two good parties in indy this month.

Holla

Angie is Spinbaby Productions. Me and her are throwing this together and I couldn't have done it without her so she deservers just as much credit as me.

Thank You ANGIE!!!!!!!!

MUAH

Thank YOU, Brad! You know I love you! ;-)
And I couldn't have done this event without you either.

Bigger and Better things to come..... ;)

Bunnie Thumper

Brad, I've said it b4 and I'll say it again : KUDOS 2 YOU! I've already made plans and hopefully I'll be bringing 2 virgins with me for this one. :) All I can say is that it's gonna be an interesting night, what with the BBB and the Bunnie Hut Family coming back together and all. And FREAK - the whole world knows about your toys....what I wanna see is some ROLLER COASTERS! In any case, I agree with Pharmy in that the dancin' shoes are coming back out (and in my case, a new pair of ears)....and if things go my way, it's gonna be REAL HARD!
PLURR>
Bunnie

Shibby, the Bunnie Hut Family is goin to be out and about partying it up. I know everyone knows about my lights, but I'm trying to make the best type that I can for this party. The party and party kyds has always made me wanna go one step further. They are my motivation, and in return I guese I motivate others to step up strive to better there ;ight skillz. Then again I could just be talkingout of my ass. But at any rate, I'm going to strive to excel for the scene.
