I'm still around, Paps, just haven't had too much to say recently.
A handful of recent posts caught my eye. You may not want sympathy, Brimz, but I'm sure I'm not the only one who can identify with your 'foetal scream' post. You weren't the first and won't be the last user in that position. Looks like Irish treatment is failing Ructs and the rest as it does UK users. You can't tell your doctor how it is - that, like 70% of methadone script recipients, you still need heroin on top and, as you can't get it any other way, have to score - even though it's hard to believe they aren't aware of the real situation. If you tell the truth, you face losing your meth or suffering the inconvenience and imposition of 'supervised consumption'. Then they say addicts are liars. Weird shit.
Oh man, supervised consumption is the worst bullshit that they make you go through!! When I first started my scripts, back in circa 1998, the chemist I had to use (the first 3 or 4 actually) didn't have a 'privacy booth' like what you get now and so the amount of times I had to drink my meth in front of a packed out chemist was outrageous. Talk about stigmatisation. It's disgusting really. 'Everyone look at the drug addict - the shame'!
Luckily I've now found a much, much better private (but still accessible via the NHS - weird that) 'care centre' (or whatever they're called now). You get to know which ones suck and which ones are cool after a while. For example, I remember getting tested week in, week out right there and then in the room at the one place. They used to make me piss in a tube and hand it to them (you all know the score! Does anywhere still do this rather than mouth swabs now?). The once I got the temperature of my 'sample' wrong (too hot) and when the doctor put her little temperature sensor on there she knew straight away that I'd been on the fiddle. So that meant I had to face the even greater indignity of pissing in front of the nurse, who happened to be the mother of a lad I played football with! Sometimes I just couldn't go with her peering at my cock!
Anyway, I digress, the practise I go to now is happy to see me once a month and I haven't had a drug test (mouth swabs now) for what has to be a year now, lol! Weekly pickup, sweet times. Let's hope it goes on, eh? They too have been instructed to concentrate on 'recovery' over 'maintenance' but if you're smart you can answer the questions to the 'mental wellbeing checklist' (or whatever your service calls that sort of crap) to indicate that when your script goes down things get worse and when it stays regular (or increases) then your life magically gets better! It's all about numbers and statistics now. Whatever, I'm staying with my practise for the time being even if I have moved out of their catchment area 4 times now!! Better the devil you know unless it sucks shit. My missus has one more local and they really suck, reducing her no matter what at every possible occasion. She stalls with an 'unbalanced social life' but they still really push hard to reduce every time.
So there's my essay on drug rehabilitation services in the midlands(ish).
The gear situ has actually gotten better this week. Getting gear in NW Brum that actually makes me gouch once I've had enough (maybe 4 bags). The only trouble with taking good gear is that it's over all too soon, lol! The grass is always greeener, eh?! Maybe not, good gear always wins over shit I suppose!!
One of my dealers tried to sell me soap instead of crack today though!! He soon rectified the problem (another one of his customers wasn't so lucky though, he didn't get the real thing or even his money back. He even took our soap - I think he was going to smoke it anyway, ha ha ha!) but he said he'd been done over on his dealer. He's normally really good too. I think he knew damned well he'd sold me soap though, he didn't even want it back off me, that's why his other disgruntled customer had it.
