Went to see Antique Bakery today. Was much better than I thought it would be because I thought the attractive koreans were the sole reason my friends wanted to see it...
 
Got a few films here I'm looking forward to watching, Amores Peros, Naked & The Long Good Friday.

Yeah boi.

Cracker film. Had to watch it during my brief time doing a media course, and I loved it. I was a bit put off at the start because I thought there were some paedophilic undertones, but then soon got into it and realised that wasn't what the movie was about.

I've still not watched Boondock Saints; this is chiefly because everytime somebody tells me that it's great and I need to watch it - someone else comes along and tells me how over rated it is.
 
Boondock Saints is kick ass blood and guts
Blow is a true story about cocaine coming to America
Bong water is a stoner flick with Jack Black
Dazed and Confused is about high school high times
The Hurt Locker is a war flick that accurately portray the middle east fighting to date
Pulp Fiction is a timeless classic for the probably 20 people who havent seen it yet, Travolta, Willis and motha fuckin Samuel L Jackson
 
Watched Leon numerous times, made me cry at the cinema. Still not seen the longer cut though.

I know that Mr Oldman was on 2 bottles of vodka a day for some of the 90's and I have never found if that was one of them, but he certainly goes full bore on the scenery chewing. Everyone always asks what was in that drug he takes which comes on instantly......and after a while give up and accept it was made up.
Plus Mathilda looks just like my sister did as a young kid.....and Porters still does a bit.

I disagree with TG on RZ's film making credentials. House is like watching 70's horror on psyches. And the Devils Rejects is fun. But I'm suspecting you never had Astrocreep 2000 on repeat play back in 95...cos if you liked white zombies best stuff you can see where his pilfering and fuckery come from as far as the films go.

I've been watching cheap and dodgy horror films and japanese ones lately and nothing so far is coming up smelling of roses!

Still haven't watched new Friday 13th.

But I also haven't watched avatarse and never intend to.
On film 4 I did watch Predator 1 and 2 stoned as fuck. Found out the guy with the godawful jokes is the screenwriter for kiss kiss bang bang and a bunch of others. "Jesus you got a big pussy.........jesus you got a big pussy".....

I remember watching this one night when I was flicking channels. And it just so happened that I was on acid at the time...quite a bit. I wasn't sure what to make of it, but I know one thing, it scared the shit out of me. It's so bad on so many levels, but there's a certain je ne sais quoi that keeps you watching. If you like trashy films, or watching weird shit on psychedelics, this is the one for you. :D

And on that note I'm gonna watch one of the DVDs I have here.
 
Watching State of Grace with Sean Penn & Garl Oldman, early 90s film about the Irish-Americam mobsters in New York. Sean Penn plays an undercover cop who has to infiltrate his childhood friends crime ring. Not bad like.

Love that film but not seen it for ages. Saw it at the cinema when it came out and on video shortly after but wouldn't mind seeing it again to check it's as good as the memory :)

The longer version is longer as it includes more of the "paedo" sub-plot from memory. It's actually the only version I've got now but not seen it for ages either. The cut scenes are mostly ones to do with the relationship between them as some found it uncomfortably close to paedo territory. I don't agree but I rarely agree with censors so no big surprise.

Fell asleep for a few hours earlier and now fairly awake so may watch a fillum. See Boondock Saints got another recommendation. Has been on my To Watch list for a while so may give that a whirl.

Remember that from years ago and always liked it. Was there a hand or head found in a freezer in it or something ? Are you from Cork like?
 
There's a point when Gary Oldman opens the freezer and there's a few severed hands in there and he picks them up and starts taunting Penn with them. What they did was use a shooter, wipe the prints free, defrost the frozen hand and put the prints on it them dump the shooter so when it's found the cops are looking for a dead man.

Aye I'm from Cork. ;)
