Very fucking good yea :)
I saw it before I'd caught Paddy in other films and thought "He's going to be (and is) a good actor".
And most everything that Shane Meadows puts out is great ^_^

Synecdoche, New York

Can't remember who mentioned this previously but I watched it last night and am also recommending it. If you like Charlie Kaufman you'll cream yourself. If you don't it's two hours of pure hell :D

I got a bit lost halfway through but that's to be expected with Kaufman films. I suspect it would gain from repeat viewings but it managed to keep my interest and stay (just) the right side of pretension throughout :)

Trailer

Saw the TV shows years ago. :)

The TV episodes were OK but the film was better.

I enjoyed the series more, you actually got to see the characters/actors grow up, it was such a more in depth and immersive atmosphere. The film's just like a feature length episode really though, both great.

I loved it :) I'd like to live inside Charlie Kaufman's brain, definitely one for repeat viewings though.

I'm not sure the ket helped with my comprehension either to be honest, Evad. Just watched the trailer and kept seeing bits that I don't remember at all. On the other hand, it may well have helped to understand the bits I do remember :D

I love Charlie Kaufman's stuff so was hoping for good things. It definitely delivered good things but maybe sagged a bit in places, in my opinion. Again, quite possibly substance-related. Or substance wearing off-related maybe 8)

The series has some good bits but it's not as exciting on the whole as the film which is action packed from start to finish.

Watched it yesterday morning for breakfast:D
Purposely didn't read too much of any reviews so that I didn't know the plot. I have to say that in some ways it is the most extreme film I have ever seen and no doubt if it had been made last century it would still be banned as its WAY more extreme than some of the ones that are still illegal.
Its several films in one including about 20 minutes of torture thats far more damaging and believable than anything in Hostel et al:\:)although many people watching it consider it to be 100 minutes of pain, which to an extent it is.
The cover gives no indication as to the content and those who have watched it expect it to be like Saw 1 - 5 and it isn't it is French and has more aspects of arthouse cinema.....

It fucking well is:D
Its also only the 2nd film this year to scare me along with The Orphanage.
Its proper real horror instead of commercial US wank.
I read that some cunt wants to remake for the US and I guarantee it will be absolute FAIL:X...I mean they'd have to cut out about half the film:|

The Orphanage was so dissapointing I thought. :\

In what way. And don't say that it was too American for a Spanish film because it wasn't. Also how did you watch it? I watched it alone in the dark and was feeling fucking scared that something absolutely godawful was going to happen.
It could be made or broke with how you like the ending.I'm not sure about it,but prior to the last 5 minutes I thought it was really good.
Much better than Rec which didn't scare me at all.I'd been led to believe that the last 5 minutes of that were REALLY scary and they REALLY weren't.

Always found Brazil to be VERY overated. Vastly prefer THE FISHER KING, 12 MONKEYS, FEAR AND LOATHING and my absolute favourite Gilliam film is TIDELAND.

I didn't think it was scary at all nor very exciting. Found it a bit boring and the ending wasn't great. I watched it alone but probably not in the dark.

I really like [REC] though. Again not massively scary but it was a good film.

I always watch films in the dark with headphones on to get as immersed as possible into them.I didn't find The Orphanage remotely boring, it was great:)
Rec was not:|In fact it was highly underwhelming. Now they're going to put out Rec 2 and fuck knows how thats gonna work.

First person I've known to see [REC] and not like it.

Everyone had told me the Orphanage was great and terriffying but I just didn't think that at all. Didn't seem overly special to me.

heres a selection of damn good films from the east:

Avalon
Oldboy
Ringu
Ong-Bak
Story of Ricky (riki-oh)

and the anime section of this post:

Ghost in the Shell
Akira
Sword of the Stranger
Ninja Scroll
Spirited away
Jin-Roh

these two lists could go on and on (my movies alone add up to a staggering 2tb of data) but ill stop there for now

nice lists, seen all but a couple, i've fancied watching ong bak for a while now, might acquire it :)
