Recommend another good movie per post

I didn't really like City of Men, found it pretty dull certainly in comparison to City of God anyway.

I'm sure I read somewhere recently that City of Men has been turned into a film but what I saw was the TV series. Anyone any idea?

I watched Eraserhead for the first time last night, it was wierd as fuck! a really dark film. I realise its a cult classic which many of you have probably seen but if you havnt i deffinetly recommend it :D

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0074486/

Eraserhead is the way forward, backward and sideways.=D
Need to get it on dvd as both my vhs players are fucked. The sound design is amazing, wish I had a big fucking 5.1 setup to bang it out on and scare the neighbours.
Thought about starting a David Lynch discussion thread the other day as it appears Bluelight has a severe shortage of one.Might start it here as American BL'ers seem to give zero shits about him.:p

No. It looks shite and apparently is from the reviews I've read. Same guy who wrote Forest Gump though which is an absolute classic so maybe...

I thought it looked shite, and said so. That was until I saw what it was actually about on Jonathan Ross' show and it tickled my interest. Doubt I'll break my long time of no cinema for it though. I haven't been to the cinema since the 2nd Matrix movie!

i was pretty high when i watched it and found it a little slow. not up to fincher's best standard and i don't understand the 13 oscar nominations. it was good but felt emotionally stunted for the type of film it was trying to be.

The premise for the film isn't great IMO. I'm sure it'd be watchable but I don't envisage it being great.

Has anyone recommended Donnie Darko, if not I am.

I just read in F&T that a sequel has been made and is due out in 2009. I watched the trailer and it looks abysmal. Different director, writer etc and straight to DVD so I doubt it's going to be good.

Not seen the Donnie Darko directors cut.Would like to at some point.Thought the undirectors cut was good but not as good as I was led to believe.Almost bought it yesterday 2nd hand as a matter of fact.:D

I *think* I'm recommending this film.

Runaway Tomo (Thomas Turgoose) arrives in London with nothing but a bag and a swagger. Within hours, the bag has been stolen and a chance meeting with bored Polish teenager Marek proves Tomo’s only hope. Together, the two pursue moneymaking scams – as well as the affections of local waitresses. Despite the bleakness of the innerLondon setting, this is Shane Meadows at his most charming, compassionate and hilarious.

Absolutely nowhere as gritty or shocking as his other films and as far as having a story line nothing really happens but it's pretty hilarious in parts and quite touching I guess.

haha i don't think eurostar would have funded dead mans shoes would they? hardly a nice advert for coming to the UK :D

Eurostar funded the film? That I did not know.

Have you seen it?

Wasn't 100% sure about it being black & white, but at the end you can see why he's done that. It's only on for an hour too.
