Recommend another good movie per post

Two young girls meet at a bus stop and become friends. During the day their 'fun' extends to murdering an old woman...

imdb
The only clip available on't interwebz, and it doesn't really do it justice.

This was one of my many favourite obscurities when going trough my teens. I've always been a sucker for films that are based on true stories, and this one is loosely based on a series of events that occurred in the mid 80's. Present time is shot in black and white, flashbacks in colour.

The performances from Alicia Witt and Renee Humphrey are pretty much what makes this film so intense at times. And the girls random and unprovoked attack on an elderly woman seemed all the more shocking as they were portrayed in such a likable way. Hillary's razor sharp wit and intelligence during the interrogation scenes are brilliant, along with Bonnie's completely free-spirited, unhinged hilarity and her constant need to compulsively lie about everything.

Yeah, it's hard to track down. Me wants a copy of me own. Me love Alicia Witt long time. Two dollar. Sucky sucky.

This week one of the indie cinemas round here has a horror film festival on. I usually say that I don't really like horror films but I reckon that's just because all I ever seem to see from that genre is cheesey American slasher flicks. They've got some films on which look good so will check some out.

I'm not really a fan of modern horror films tbh. I'm much more into horror from the 70's and 80's.

They certainly don't make them like Suspiria anymore. :D <3

I'm not a fan of modern American horror films but the foreign ones I've seen recently have been good. There showing some decent sounding foreign and American indie horrors this weekend. Also doing late night specials, starts as midnight and they show a selection of films right through to 6am. Even got films on at 7am on Sunday morning...not sure who's going to be there at that time except from out and out weirdos though. :D

Haha. :D

I have some much needed time off work next month. We can pop a Xanax or two and shoot the shit after our horror marathon. ;)

You'ld love the cinemas round here, proper film lover places, with great decor and atmosphere. The Cameo was a cinema in the 1920s and is now back to it's original state of decor. It's a great place.

Went to a coupla horror film festivals in my younger days, Spadey - proper all-nighters showing all sorts of obscurities and classics. Saw Dawn of the Dead and Rabid on the big screen along with loads of foreign obscurities, special cuts and great little shorts. They tend to have a great atmosphere those kinda things - would love to go again - but don't think I'll make it up for the weekend. Got no Xanax either so you wouldn't want me around ;)

I doubt I'll go to the all nighter thing it's quite expensive.

Talking about shite modern American horror films, I've just attempted to watch 30 Days of Night, gave it about an hour but it's beyond redemption. Generic vampire film with that fanny Ashton Kutcher in it. Epic fail!

Most horror films are cheesy. And I consider myself a horror film fanatic:D
I do love watching dodgy 80's US or Italian horror though and roaring with laughter all the way through....

This load of films obviously have MANY detractors...not least because to a great extent they are all shit. The first manages to be the only horror film in history where the first in the series isn't the best.I think the best one is the 2nd in terms of straight horror, but I find the 3rd one the funniest. It is cheesy as a motherfucker though;)
One of my aims is to see this in 3d at some point as theres some great eyeball popping fun.
Haven't seen the remake, but probably will at some point. It looks shit and has all the comedy removed,so you are supposed to take it all seriously:|

^The third one is my favourite, along with the 4th which was apparently the final chapter. ;)

Nothing like a bit of cheese with your horror imo. I'm big on films like Nightmare On Elm Street (1 & 3), Evil Dead 2, Braindead, Hellraiser 2, Candyman, Child's Play, the original Dawn Of The Dead, and I seem to stand alone in my love of The Night Of The Living Dead remake. Personally I thought Patricia Tallman rocked it as Barbara. :D

edit: ooh, and Creepshow. :D

I love the self hating fat guy who brings the hockey mask.
Elm street 1 + 3 the best, but 2 is my favourite due to it being absolutely pant wettingly hilarious....just what is going on with the fucking parrot?4 is ok,5 is dull 6 is absolute arse and new nightmare annoyed me.
Evil dead is actually scary,2 is funny but I don't like it as much,3 is very annoying.
Braindead is great.Whats wrong with Hellraiser?Hellbound isn't as good:\
Candyman is pretty good, can't remember Childs play.I prefer the remake of Dawn which makes me a heretic in the horror world:|Haven't seen the original for ever but remember it boring me to death.Prefer Day of the dead to be honest, which yet again makes me a heretical outcast:|
NOTLD remake is BETTER than the original. Its the 3rd best horror remake after THE FLY.
And...

2nd best horror film ever after Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974) IMO:D

Haha. I forgot about the parrot thing. I haven't watched it in years because I grew up hating it. But since all this talk of hidden homo eroticism I've been meaning to watch it again. Maybe tonight. I have 1-5 on DVD. :D

Yeah, 4 was OK, it certainly has some good moments. The water bed scene, the beach scene, and Debbie's death. Classic. I always preferred that actress who played Kristen as well, I never could stand Patricia Arquette and her incessant screeching. :|

The rest are extremely forgettable.

Whats wrong with Hellraiser?Hellbound isn't as good:\

I thought the first one was too boring and slow moving. Hellbound is great. Dr. Channard is fantastic!. :D

You're the first horror fan who's actually agreed with me on that. Ever. :)

I still haven't seen The Thing. I was supposed wo watch it when it was on TV the other day but didn't. Never could get into Chainsaw that much. All that screaming irritates me.

Did you ever watch the TV show American Gothic?.
