Real raves (for clarification in the USA "rave" refers to giant commerical shitfests)

http://www.residentadvisor.net/event.aspx?181042 heading to this next weekend, should be quality!

That's a nice line-up, especially considering the Drumcode night in Glasgow on the 1st of October is only Beyer & Alan Fitzpatrick. I'm still looking forward to it though. I wish they'd booked Ida Einberg for the Glasgow night, she's one of the naughtiest looking DJs I've ever seen, I saw her play at Exit.

I'm also going to drumcode next weekend. Can't remember the last time I have looked forward to a night out so much. Hope there is some after party action on offer somewhere.

i was checking out that drumcode night too although i'm put off by the £20 price tag since i'm skint. I've got a mate just going through a big break up though so i imagine he'll wanna get fucked so it's there, fabric for sasha or some sort of east end warehouse shindig

Oh how nice to hear of fellow ravers attending the Drumcode party.

CANNY WAIT !!!!!!!!!!!

Look out for Steve Norwood, Nick Foster & Mark da Ground in the Tech House arch hosted by MAGMA

GONNA BE HEAVY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:) <3 %) :) <3 %) :) <3 %) :) <3 %) :)

If you are looking for underground college type parties in Europe as they are held in the USA you won't find them. Simply because this is Europe, and we do thing differently. I have studied in three European countries, and never once went to a party that could resemble a 'frat' party or whatever those colleges type parties are called. All the American exchange students I met during those periods had the same to add... That in regards to student type stuff....

As for the 'rave' topic, I saw the video you posted in LA and that is why I stated that we in Europe perceive the term rave very differently.

When it comes to EDM, sorry, but the US is light ages behind, mind commercial David Getalife and KilltheMouse type music. At least you guys have Detroit which still produces talent like no other, but other that, that's it. I don't want to sound like an elitist, but the music scene as the on in the posted video, can appeal only to 17-20 year old's in the the state... The chick are HOT though, but, that is it... It is a bunch of kids just having fun with some mdma and commercial music. Once they get of college, that is it... Drugs are bad and become new born Christians :) etc... That scene has no foundation, nothing is real about it... It is the Mc Donalds of EDM...

Go to Panorama Bar in Berlin at 10:00 in the morning on a Sunday. The crowd is 25-40, the music something else, you can feel that you belong, that the scene there has something real... I have had the most amazing discussions with people there, sober, and not.

Have you been to Fabric when the crowd is up for it and not tourists? Have you heard what is arguably the best sound system in the world. I have heard sounds on ket and mdma in Fabric (ok maybe tooo much ket) that are impossible to perceive anywhere else. That is because of the sound system, and the Djs who play unbiased, ground breaking electronic music, be it D&B on a Friday, or house/techno on a Saturday. I still remember a night when Craig Richard was playing the weirdest music ever, but it was something else. You CANNOT have that experience at an open air venue with 10000 thousand people... The sound travels, and it is not intimate. Same thing applies to many other European venues...

You where at Sonar, I remember posting in the thread, go to the OFF Sonar events. I even posted the flyer of the club... Mdma was everywhere.... Riklet I remeber posted the same thing. Some people are just bad at getting drugs sometime or unlucky.

One could argue that this a general cultural difference in how we perceive 'music culture' and 'culture' generally compared to Americans.

Am i rambling to much?

I love some UK music, sub focus is fucking hot. I do like American DJs as well though. Seams like West Coast house is just easy to move to.

I wanted to go to the party you posted but it said sold out and by invite only by the time I tried to get tickets. I went to a beach party right off the airport with mostly locals. I hung with some Danish guys and they picked up some very crappy white powdery molly. About a half a gram for 50€. They snorted it.... Said it made them feel chatty and friendly but not very strong.

What I miss about American raves is the community feeling. People coming around and giving lightshows while another massages your scalp. And the hot chicks! Don't really see that kind of scene in a teuf, I don't really blend in ether so it is always a bit uncomfortable for me.

I'd like to head to that warehouse party but I would have to book a last minute flight and a hotel.

The whole idea of people "giving lightshows" is a million miles away from what I want at a rave/club/party/whatever. I want taps aff techno (without the taps aff), face the front, bounce about like a dick, stomp your feet, pound your fist in the air, sweat your pan in, grind your jaw & talk to no cunt!!! Occasionally shout "FUCKING YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAS" & grab a hold of some cunt in a "Lets fucking HAVE IT!!! CAAAAAAAAMAAAAAAAN!!!!!" way rather than a "I love you would you like a massage" way at the drop.

I always remember the "crasher kid" era around 1999-2003 ish. That's probably the only example I can think off when the uk has got anywhere near the type of scenario found in the USA. I went to gatecrasher at the height of it's popularity and It was certainly an experience. Fookin nuts, the lot of them.

Anyone used to go on gurn.net ?

I've never been to any raves :(
The closest I've come is staying in a field with a load of tents getting wasted and playing weird anime on repeat on a white cloth attached to a stack of bales!
Sounds like you can have a splendid time at one!

Then you need to goto a psytrance event - all that stuff goes on at the psy freeparties (and psy clubparties)

And the hot chicks!
But start being a dirty lech like that and you'll find someone kicking off with you before long.

i've never seen anyone mooching round at a freeparty doing lightshows or head massages, rubbing vicks on each others nipples or licking eyeballs. 'roll tricks' just don't happen here and i'm all the more thankful for it.
