This time last year, actually maybe another two weeks from now, I was drinking anywhere between 1.5-3 litres of energy drinks a day and multiple cups of coffee (if it was instant 3-4 teaspoons).
I found being constantly caffeinated was the only way I could focus on my exams, and the revision for them.
Then after the exams I realised it was probably far more harm than good to keep up the habit, so I just completely stopped.
When I returned to caffeine after such a long break, it seemed that the effects were much stronger from smaller amounts. The idea that I notice it far more now is probably a reasonable explanation. Win/win situation if you ask me, it's exams time soon again, and I needa do some work for once in my life.
EDIT: Sam, you said there about your mother drinking coffee before bed. I can remember many a time where I'd have an energy drink, lying on the sofa, and just fell asleep. Used to happen a couple of days a week, sometimes, haha. :D it was always a pleasant sleep.
