Random MSN Gibberings LXX: A little sexier than normal vomiting

I'm just tucking into series 2 of Breaking Bad. Definitely hooked but I'm finding it startlingly realistic in some respects and a bit wacky in others. The dialogue is great, the characters are broadly credible. The diagnosis and resultant family situation is handled extremely well and methinks by someone with experience of this process. There is a lot there which rings true from my own experience of the impact of that disease on a family. I feel slightly as though Walter's transformation into a bit of a psycho has come too quickly and that he makes irrational decisions which place him in fantastical situations... but then again it wouldn't be so watchable if he behaved like a normal person.

So I like it a lot and I will doubtless watch the rest unless they take it somewhere stupid later. It doesn't touch me like The Wire did but it's extremely good. No spoilers pls.

If someone had asked me during season 2 does this show compete with The Wire, I would have said almost. But now after finishing S4 i'd say it's better! If you think Walter's gone off the rails now, just wait!

Only up to the 4th episode of the first series. Found it a little slow at times but I'm gonna get back into it, sounds as if there's plenty of good stuff to come.

It's a novel, not a short story :D Bare with it and you won't regret it. It has a slow come up but the peak is just immense.

If you haven't watched The Wire yet let alone Breaking Bad , you are seriously missing out on some of the best T.V EVER.

For years to come The Wire will be talked about its that good , on so many levels .
I haven't got a T.V but i still catch Breaking Bad cos its superb !
Theirs so many good shows on HBO alone .

To miss out on The Wire is just criminal .
If you can't bare to watch it get a book by David Simon , The Corner is a good place to start.

So I'm constantly told.

I've nothing against TV drama per se, I just can't sustain my attention at all. It's purely neurological. My televisual experiences consist of shouting at the news and occasionally shouting at some of the pornographic-shit-'reality'-bollocks. Which (perversely) I can happily watch and have my misanthropy not only reaffirmed but amplified by several notches. In turn justifying my own disdain for most of what lies outside my own imagination. Neatly done, eh?

It's all fun and games round mine. ;)

The book suggestion's probably a better one, Brimz. Thank you.

Seriously give the book a go , its at the Library well tis mine.
I think u can get it on Amazon for £5/6 , you will be really impressed its 600 pages but so addictive i read it in 4 days.
Go for The Corner or Homicide they are both true and based on time spent on the Baltimore Streets . All the cxharacters are real and no names are changed .
I read loads of books & those two are real stand out stuff. Some of it is heartbreaking cos its real.

Told you, the more people hype it (even people whose opinions I respect), the less chance there is I'll watch it. I have attention span issues when it comes to film and television anyway. Plus, I have a perversity which attracts me towards things that people either neglect or outright hate. I own GG Allin records, you know? ;)
It's proper fooking shite, don't bother with it. Better?

Aye. Slightly. :)

It'd take legions of people slagging it off for me to change my mind though. Or on a more superficial level, a stupidly-attractive woman, preferably of middle-eastern appearance.

I swear it's not through any pose or sense of superiority over those who watch it. Not even hatred of anything popular, just sheer inexplicable perversity.

oh, rly? ;p

lawl .. & *hearts* <3

I think it's possibly some projection issues, maybe some inner conflict and disharmony poking through.
the predictable torment which any 'not-quite-nearly-half-a-viking' is bound to shoulder ;p

Good morning Marmz. How goes it? :)

If you're going to dissect my psyche with scary accuracy, then at least keep it private, eh? And don't be half as fucking funny with it either!

Were I not aware of the fact you're more mature and intelligent and not a jumped-up self-obsessed undergrad, I'd say you remind me of somebody I met on Saturday night.

She was evil too, y'know? ;)

Oh - and being a Viking is a state of mind, as dickheads used to say about being black.

Have you seen The Corner ? its also by Burns / Simon it was a mini series before the Wire , kinda laid the Foundation .
Same streets and what not.

I haven't mate but i'll watch it soon! Do you watch The Life and Times of Tim, it's brilliant!

Seriously download it this minute , you should be able to get all 6 episodes in one go. Its amazing you can see how The Wire came about .
No i 'm not familiar with The Life and Times of Tim. Whats it about , and don't say Tim !!

It's a HBO cartoon comedy about a socially awkward guy called Tim. He gets into a series of situations that get progressively worse! It's really offbeat.

Sounds like a giggle HBO as well so thats like a Quality stamp already.
They make all the best stuff , when i had Sky back in 2002-2008 i thought FX was the best channel , they had all the good stuff .
1st to get the Wire , Dexter , Breaking Bad all the top shows , it was part of the £16 package back then , know you have to get extras for it.
When i left Sky , they kept my Broadband on for 8 months without noticing:)

My mate has got the whole HD package with Sky + n although it costs about £60 odd quid i must say it is impressive.

Good luck in court rockstar, hope it all goes well for you!

Cheers mate, didn't exactly go to plan. Sentance deffered for 6months so they can do more background reports and make sure I'm being a good boy lol. I would hazzard a guess the judge didn't realise I have a more serious charge for dealing pending. Not sure how this will work now will the charge I'm waiting for add to the fine I'm likely to get from the personal charge today... Soliciter had been hoping it would be done with today and I'd get a few hundred quid fine.

Just about to download Breaking Bad now, preying I have it for later!

I used to have FX as well, it was good, but ultimately I only need freeview and the web to watch anything I want in the world :D Have you read 'Pimp' by Iceberg Slim? It's brutal, but an amazing unabashed story nonetheless.

I haven't seen The Wire or Breaking Bad. From all of the hype I need to get caught up with it all I think! May try and find a site with Season 1, Episode 1 when I get back from work later at 11.

That statement, on it's own made me laugh so much a little bit of wee came out!

where did you download it? I'm dying to see the new Breaking Bad, season 3 was amazing!

Off to court this morning on a personal charge....:\

I can't post links here but I downloaded from a torrent site. It's everywhere. Anywhere that you have previously downloaded a film or tv show from will have it.

The Corner is excellent. I saw it on Channel 4 years ago, well before The Wire. They had it on at like 3am or something. It's cool at the end when they interview the real people that the stories are about.
