Remember that addiction is when you go to irrational lengths to get your drug of choice and that your sole focus is getting your drug of choice to the point where your life revolves around it.
In most cases this is true, but it's not always an addiction to the high. In psudoaddiction, the same applies, though rather because a CPP is being under medicated by their doctor and have to through other means to obtain pain relief, not a high. That isn't addiction, that is someone in pain who cannot get relief through legal channels, and therefore resorts to illegal means to control their pain. I am currently in this situation. Does my life revolve around getting my DOC? You bet it does. Do I go to irrational lengths to obtain it? Yes I do. Is it because I'm a junkie who just wants to get blasted? Nope. It's because I need to work, I have a family to support, and I have run out of options. If the DEA would butt out of the medical industry and doctor's actually understood that living with chronic pain is being only half alive, then people like me wouldn't have to turn into felons just to live a normal life.
