neversick, have you done this often? Have you ever followed this procedure and been unsuccessful at attaining a purple hue to your plants?

Hey sorry for the late post.. misplaced this thread for awhile.. yes I have done this with great effect and little detriment if any, to all kinds of strains.. sour d, col cough, paranoia, 51, jack, widow, flow, hash afghani, silver haze, .. oh and a little project jack X blue berry X grapefruit.. .. yeah tons and tons.. yep smokers really loose it when you give them their fav strain, organ and immaculately done, turned purple and cured perfect .. used a house fridge with all the shelves removed in contractor bag.. a large belt such a movers use will keep the fridge shut.. works so well I hesitated posting this.. cant remember the exact temp so you will have to play around a little... just make sure the plant is healthy and ALIVE and the temp is close but not into freezing.. let me know if you have any problems, I DIDN'T so I would be surprised as hell.. actually the only problem you could encounter would be perspiration on the new purple bud that has been just removed from the fridge and resultant cure problems.. make sure if you have big dense colas you pull the bud apart to avoid cure rot, even in dry climates, I was in colorado, dry climate, and made sure i did this to all big dense buds that where purpled.. good luck.

No i have never been unsuccessful at doing this.. have done it to legitimate purple strains, IMO this is actually a genetic defect and not a plus, like purple haze, or purple kush.. or a dark stain like the black domino and attained a very dark almost black product.. smelt great and smoked perfect.. turned a few eyes when you pull out a tup of basically black weed, whose boquete still knocks one over from across the room=D good luck and let me know how it goes.. also if you want to give it a little try so the how full of shit am I leaves your mind I THINK if you take a branch that has just been lopped and bag and place in a fridge close to freezing for a day or so you should see some results, not as good as a full plant or like we did it still in the pot or with a good root ball, whatever will prolong its life the longest.. place cut branch end in water.. yep she is a flower, put the branch in a vase w water and throw her in a cold fridge, should work IDK why not.. hah i'm on bocks rite now so someone let me know if the branch thing works out.. since its a experiment, try it with some bottom muck and see what happens.. COLD FRIDGE close to 0 C or 32F..

Purple bud is nothing special. Any grower can make ANY strain purple. Just need to have full control of your climate in the grow room.
Yes, there are a number of strains with purple bud and calyxes in the genetics. They tend to be low on my list of "best" strains.

Here is some purple plants from my last indoor run. This particular grow room the nights got down to the 40's on cold nights right before harvest. This strain was going to be purple regardless but, the buds were a nice even combination of light green and purple/maroon. I'll see if I have any pictures of the harvested buds.

To me when I'm assessing whether I like a strain or not all the senses matter, whether it be smell, taste or sight/appearance. To me the way the plant looks when it grows matters, not just the effect, so when I have a lovely looking purple strain with amazing bag appeal that is just another box ticked for me. I like variety so having a nice purple mother in my cabinet is desirable.

You have to admit its pretty though. What strain is that?

Colour is in no way indicative of potency, but purple weed sure is pretty to look at.
I was always told the purple colour can be caused by a mineral deficiency while growing or by bruising your buds, kind of like the blue colouring on zoomers
